Chapter 169: But Very Strong
The next day, when Jiang Mi woke up, she still felt groggy. There was a large, hot object pressed against her chest—hard and warm.
Her lips pouted slightly as she murmured, “It’s hot,” and she tried to move away. But just as she shifted, the man beside her pulled her back into his arms. “Wife, you’re awake.”
Jiang Mi’s eyelids fluttered. What did Gu Chuan just call her?
She opened her eyes and saw his handsome, cold face—well, not so cold today. His eyebrows carried a hint of a smile, and the corners of his lips were lifted in an incredibly good mood.
Jiang Mi blinked, thinking she must have misheard. “What did you just call me?”
The smile in Gu Chuan’s eyes deepened. “Wife.”
Being stared at by his deep, dark eyes made Jiang Mi a little uncomfortable, and she instinctively mumbled, “You can’t just call me ‘wife’ without permission…”
Midway through her muttering, fragmented memories came flooding back.
Her arms tightly wrapped around his shoulders.
Crying as she called him “husband.”
Suddenly, a blush spread across her skin. Jiang Mi turned her head, feeling like she couldn’t handle it anymore. How did she end up calling him “husband”?
Gu Chuan gently patted her back, soothing her. “Wife, call me that again.”
Jiang Mi burrowed under the blanket, hiding for a while until her embarrassment subsided. Then, she kicked Gu Chuan playfully. “And you said I’d be on top last night!”
If they were back in bed, with her in control, there was no way she would’ve ended up being teased to the point where she cried out “husband.”
Gu Chuan wasn’t upset and indulged her, saying, “Baby, weren’t you on top?”
Jiang Mi wanted to argue, but then she recalled their positions. She had indeed been in his arms, and in terms of height, she technically was on top.
Lifting her little face, Jiang Mi leaned in and playfully bit Gu Chuan’s chin. “I don’t want to talk to you.”
Gu Chuan chuckled indulgently. “I’ll stick by your side and beg for your attention. Alright, you can sleep a bit longer, and I’ll go make breakfast.”
After he left, Jiang Mi got up, checked the time, and saw that it was 8 a.m. She still had an hour before the show’s filming started.
Relieved, she climbed out of bed and went to freshen up. But when she looked in the mirror, she was stunned.
When Jiang Mi arrived at the set for filming, she was wearing a stylish pair of sunglasses that covered almost half of her face.
It was the end of summer, and the temperature had already started to drop. The sun wasn’t as strong, so most of the guests simply applied sunscreen without wearing sunglasses.
Jiang Mi’s sunglasses made her stand out, especially since she was also dressed in long sleeves and long pants, wrapping herself up tightly in the summer heat.
Lu Yu glanced at the sun in the sky, then looked at Jiang Mi, who stood beside her wearing sunglasses and exuding a cool aura. She fanned herself with a small hand and asked softly, “Mimi, aren’t you hot?”
Jiang Mi calmly replied, “I caught a cold, so I feel chilly.”
Lu Yu immediately expressed her concern and then added, “It’s a good thing you’re wearing sunglasses. The sun’s so bright today, it could hurt your eyes.”
Jiang Mi adjusted her sunglasses uncomfortably. “Well, I’ll take them off when things calm down.”
In reality, Jiang Mi wasn’t wearing the sunglasses to protect herself from the sun. It was because her eyes were red and swollen—clear evidence that she’d been thoroughly “bullied” by a certain man.
Thinking of this, she shot Gu Chuan a dangerous look.
Gu Chuan felt truly innocent. He knew they had only done it once last night, but maybe it was because it had been so… intense that she couldn’t help but cry.
Whether the other guests were whispering or not, the director soon raised a megaphone and began, “Alright, everyone, now that all the guests are here, today’s live broadcast will officially begin. The first task is to head up the mountain to pick oranges. The crew has prepared aprons, so help each other put them on.”
Picking oranges sounded like an innocent task, but to add some intimacy between the couples, the showrunners came up with a little twist: guests had to help each other put on their aprons.
Jiang Mi pushed her sunglasses up her nose, deliberately choosing a pink, floral apron for Gu Chuan. “Brother, this apron suits you perfectly. Let’s go with this one!”
Gu Chuan raised his eyebrows slightly, his voice filled with helplessness. “Mimi…”
Jiang Mi curled her lips, clearly in a great mood. Hmph, since Gu Chuan had “bullied” her last night, today it was her turn for some payback.
When she helped him tie the bow at the back, Jiang Mi deliberately tightened it around his waist, tying a large, exaggerated bow.
Gu Chuan turned to see the girl beside him, puffing her cheeks in mock anger, lively and playful like a mischievous child.
With a doting tone, Gu Chuan asked, “What did I do to make you so upset?”
During the live broadcast, discussing their activities in bed wasn’t appropriate. Jiang Mi tossed the apron to Gu Chuan and, still not appeased, said, “You put this on for me.”
As she turned away, she couldn’t help but think that once the broadcast was over, she needed to focus on physical training. She couldn’t let Gu Chuan outmaneuver her in bed again without any chance of retaliation.
While lost in these thoughts, suddenly, she found herself enveloped in a warm, solid embrace. The smell of his dry, cool scent filled her nose.
Jiang Mi’s voice softened involuntarily. “What are you doing?”
“Just trying to calm you down,” Gu Chuan said in his deep, magnetic voice, while tying the apron’s bow.
Jiang Mi’s mind went blank. She had imagined countless responses, but never had she expected him to simply say he was calming her down. Her heart fluttered with a tingly sensation.
Her boyfriend was getting better at this—managing to flirt even while tying an apron.
Jiang Mi felt sweet inside but wondered if the embrace was lasting a bit too long.
“Am I so hard to comfort?” Jiang Mi asked, puzzled.
Gu Chuan’s fingers faltered for a moment, then he responded ambiguously with an “Mm.”
Hmm???!!!
What did Gu Chuan mean by that?
Jiang Mi turned her head to look at the mess of apron strings behind her and began to understand.
He was holding her because he couldn’t tie the bow properly, wasn’t he?
Jiang Mi couldn’t help but laugh. Even her multi-talented boyfriend had moments of failure.
Gu Chuan, rarely embarrassed, tried to untangle the mess of strings. “I’ll redo it.”
Jiang Mi laughed uncontrollably. “Are you sure you can untie it?”
Gu Chuan: “………”
[Hahaha, I’m going to die laughing.]
[One second I was being all romantic with Gu Chuan’s apron around my waist, and the next second I’m nearly laughing my head off.]
[Does anyone else think Gu Chuan’s dahlia-shaped bow is pretty? It’s nothing like those tacky butterfly bows.]
[Hahaha, ‘dahlia’? It does look a bit like one though.]
[Here we have the daily loving interactions of a long-term couple, and over there is the young master and his little maid. The CP feeling isn’t apparent, but the master-servant vibe is.]
Mr. Fu fumbled a bit, tying a knot that left Bai Ruoruo struggling.
Then it was Bai Ruoruo’s turn to put an apron on Mr. Fu.
Sitting in his wheelchair, Mr. Fu had to either bend down or squat, and Bai Ruoruo, wearing a low-cut dress that showed off her smooth, white chest as she bent over, intended to tease Mr. Fu.
However, Mr. Fu faced away from her, so despite her attempts, he couldn’t see her.
Therefore, Bai Ruoruo had to squat to tie the apron for Mr. Fu.
At this moment, Mr. Fu sat in his wheelchair, clad in a black suit, looking stern and commanding. Bai Ruoruo, busy with the apron, seemed more like a servant attending to him, creating a strong master-servant impression.
Nearby were Lu Yu and Fu Li.
It was unclear what had happened between them last night, but today they interacted in a very awkward yet subtly flirtatious manner.
Lu Yu picked a gray apron for Fu Li and, while tying it, was astonished to find that Fu Li’s waist was exceptionally slender.
Lu Yu blurted out, “Your waist is so slim!”
Fu Li glanced at his own waist and, pressing his lips together, responded seriously, “Not slim, it’s just toned.”
A man couldn’t admit to having a slim waist, right? That’s impossible!
Lu Yu didn’t believe it and tightened the apron more, making his waist look even slimmer. She marveled, “No, it really is slim.”
Fu Li took a deep breath and, exhaling softly, turned to look at Lu Yu with a serious tone. “But it’s very strong.”
