Chapter 38: Hero Saves the Beauty
Bai Ruoruo was purely malicious.
The others were purely worried.
The comment section was filled with screams, and the other guests who were lagging behind shouted warnings. The production crew’s faces turned pale.
If a safety accident happened during a sweet and loving reality show, the production team would be utterly responsible!
However, unlike everyone else’s worry, the two people on the white horse showed no trace of panic, both remaining remarkably calm.
In fact, there was even a hint of anticipation on Jiang Mi’s face.
In the next second, strong, warm arms wrapped around her waist. With a leap, they arched through the air, landing steadily with Jiang Mi cradled in a horizontal embrace.
[What did I just see?]
[You guys are posting too many comments! I must be hallucinating because I couldn’t see clearly.]
[I seriously doubt it too; how else would I see a scene of the male lead in a historical drama jumping off a horse with the female lead in his arms?]
[That’s not a proper description! It should be like in a historical drama where the male lead carries the female lead in a princess carry, descending amid a shower of flower petals.]
[But the thing is, there were no wires! How did Gu Chuan jump so high? Oh, it was really too cool.]
[No, I think the bigger issue is that Gu Chuan absolutely did this “hero saving the beauty” on purpose.]
[Although it’s a cliché, classics never go out of style.]
Jiang Mi couldn’t help but feel her heart racing wildly. Leaning against Gu Chuan’s chest, she listened to the steady, powerful heartbeat echoing from within, and her peach blossom eyes curved into a smile.
Just as she was about to speak, a chorus of concerned voices sounded from behind.
“Mimi, are you okay?”
“Jiang Mi, Gu Chuan, are you two alright?”
The other guests and the production crew rushed over to check on them, but the crowd only agitated the white horse further. It reared its head and neighed furiously.
Gu Chuan had no choice but to set Jiang Mi down on the ground. Then, he swiftly mounted the horse again, pulling on the reins to calm the frenzied animal.
The director, who was the closest, noticed the bloodshot eyes of the white horse, as if it were on the verge of madness, and asked in confusion, “What triggered the horse?”
At that moment, the staff from the stables also arrived. Gu Chuan handed the reins over to them, his brows slightly furrowed, and explained briefly that the horse went wild because someone had fed it a poisonous plant.
Jiang Mi’s gaze swept over to Bai Ruoruo as she added with a smile, “Director, this matter is serious. On the minor side, it’s a delay in filming; on the major side, it’s attempted murder. We must report this to the police.”
Bai Ruoruo’s face darkened. She hadn’t expected Gu Chuan to be so capable, able to turn the situation around even in such a critical moment.
The director instinctively glanced at the camera—it was still live-streaming. “Isn’t that a bit too much?”
Gu Chuan’s gaze swept over him.
The director felt an overwhelming, terrifying aura enveloping him, an extreme danger.
He really wanted to cry. What kind of guests had he chosen? Each one was more formidable than the last.
The director didn’t want to involve the police, not because of any secret dealings, but because it would delay the show’s progress and possibly upset the audience.
But to his surprise, the audience loved it.
They were used to seeing stars competing for resources and scheming against each other on TV, but now, they were witnessing a real-life version. They were eager to see the truth unfold.
As a result, the number of live viewers doubled, and the director had nothing left to say. He obediently continued the live broadcast, cooperating with the police investigation.
Bai Ruoruo had been very cautious in her actions, so at first, when Jiang Mi suggested calling the police, she didn’t take it seriously. But she never imagined…
