Chapter 75: I’ll Go Cheer Him Up
In the end, Jiang Mi’s protests were in vain, and she was forced to have the fancy lunch with Ji Tong.
The lunch was indeed lavish, featuring top-quality caviar, a seafood platter, salmon sashimi, lobster soup, Italian carpaccio, roasted foie gras, and French escargot…
The meal was sumptuous, but the company was dreadful.
Jiang Mi took a sip of white wine and spoke in a detached tone, “I’m full.”
Ji Tong: “?”
Director: “?”
Viewers in the live chat: “?”
Jiang Mi gracefully dabbed her lips with a napkin and smiled gently, “Director, as a female celebrity, I have a tiny appetite. I only eat a little bit. Could you please pack up my half? I’ll save it for afternoon tea.”
The director was dumbfounded for a moment. “What are you talking about?”
Jiang Mi pointed to half of the food on her plate. “This meal—half is mine, half is his. I’d like my half to be packed up, please. Thank you.”
The director’s mouth twitched, and he almost cursed. “Thank… You’ll eat right here! No takeout allowed!”
Jiang Mi glanced at Ji Tong. “I’m not in the mood to eat right now.”
The director sneered, “Then just sit there and watch Ji Tong eat.”
Jiang Mi: “…”
【High EQ: Not in the mood. Low EQ: It’s unappetizing.】
【The director is so mean! Mimi earned this meal all by herself. Why can’t she take it to go?】
【Right, even the country promotes not wasting food. Packing leftovers is a good habit… wait, what???】
As the comments flew by, Jiang Mi also started eating quickly.
【Ah, this is hilarious. What happened to her tiny appetite? Who is this with the elephant-sized hunger eating non-stop?】
【Mimi is really enjoying the food! No pretense at all.】
【Mimi’s table manners are so elegant, fitting for a rich heiress.】
Ji Tong was originally unhappy about having to eat lunch with Jiang Mi, but the show didn’t allow him to refuse, so he reluctantly came and even mentally prepared himself to get along with her.
But when he looked up, he saw that most of the food on the table was already gone.
???
Ji Tong slammed his chopsticks down, glaring at Jiang Mi across the table. “Did you reincarnate as a starving ghost? You’ve eaten everything. What am I supposed to eat?”
Jiang Mi scoffed, “Idiot.”
Ji Tong’s eyes widened. “Jiang Mi, who are you calling an idiot!”
“You. Freeloader,” Jiang Mi continued.
Ji Tong was so angry he wanted to slam the table. “You—”
Jiang Mi smiled calmly and asked, “How is calling you a freeloader wrong? I won 10 points in today’s game. How many did you win?”
Ji Tong: “…” Not a single one. He even accidentally gave the other side a point.
【What’s wrong with Ji Tong? He’s talking so rudely. He didn’t eat, got lost in his thoughts, and then had the nerve to criticize Jiang Mi for eating too much?】
【Exactly. He’s freeloading and still has so much to say. Where does he get his confidence from?】
【Freeloader, idiot, freeloader, idiot, freeloader, idiot!】
Jiang Mi didn’t bother arguing with Ji Tong. She put down her chopsticks. “I’m full.”
Ji Tong gritted his teeth. “I haven’t finished eating.”
Jiang Mi sneered, “Hurry up and eat, freeloader. I’m in a hurry.”
Ji Tong wanted to slam his chopsticks down, but he didn’t have the courage. He really was freeloading!
After chewing on a couple of pieces of beef in frustration, he angrily threw down his chopsticks. “I’m full too.”
Without hesitation, and without even a glance in his direction, Jiang Mi said, “Director, I’m leaving.”
As soon as Jiang Mi returned to the beach near the wooden cabin, she immediately started looking for Gu Chuan. She didn’t see him, but Lu Yu came bouncing over to her with news.
“Mimi, Brother Chuan seems to be in a bad mood.”
“Mm, I’ll go cheer him up.”
