Their excited voices caught the attention of the rest of Xuyu’s team, who perked up their ears, eager to see what solution their boss had come up with.
Meng Suihuan pointed at Wu Ge. “You want to sell the shop space.”
Then, she pointed at the man in the blue shirt. “You want to continue renting here.”
The two nodded eagerly, like pecking chickens, their eyes full of expectation as they looked at her.
“This is easy to solve,” Meng Suihuan said, casually rubbing her fingers. “As long as I buy your shop space and invest in your project, wouldn’t that solve the problem?”
Everyone: “…”
They thought she’d come up with some brilliant solution, but this was it?
Wu Ge couldn’t help but laugh, as if he’d just heard a joke. “Young lady, I don’t doubt that you can buy my shop space, but you said you’d invest in his project. Do you even know how much that would cost?”
Meng Suihuan shook her head honestly. She really didn’t know.
In the next moment, Wu Ge held up a hand. “At least this much.”
“Fifty million?” Meng Suihuan paused. This might be tricky since she currently only had a little over twenty million on hand.
Sigh. It looked like she’d have to regretfully give up.
As she was thinking this, Wu Ge hurriedly interrupted, horrified. “Not that much! Five million should be enough!”
Meng Suihuan: “…Oh.”
Well, in that case, it wouldn’t be a problem at all.
Unfortunately, the man in the blue shirt didn’t know what she was thinking. Hearing her seemingly helpless response, he gave up immediately. After all, he’d approached countless people before, and most had dismissed the idea as unprofitable upon hearing how much investment was needed.
It seemed like this deal was off.
Just as his inner hopes were extinguishing, he suddenly heard the girl’s voice again, tinged with confusion. “Is that a lot?”
The words Is that a lot? dropped into the conversation like a stone into a calm lake, sending ripples outward.
Wu Ge was stunned by her bluntness, stammering as he replied, “Isn’t it… a lot?”
The blue-shirted man, who had been dejected moments before, felt a spark reignite in his heart. This time, though, he didn’t let it blaze too brightly, fearing the eventual letdown.
Meng Suihuan ignored their skeptical looks and repeated seriously, “Money isn’t an issue.”
—
Neither of the two had any objections after that. Meng Suihuan swiftly and decisively signed the contract with the shop owner.
As for the man in the blue shirt, Meng Suihuan first conducted an on-site inspection. After reviewing the project and its plans, she calmly added, “I can invest in this project, but for smoother collaboration in the future, I’ll need absolute decision-making authority.”
She glanced at the current plans—it still needed improvement.
“Of course, you’re welcome to provide suggestions,” she added. “If they’re good, I’m open to considering them.”
This was a principle Meng Suihuan firmly upheld. No matter the project or location, there could only be one person with ultimate control. Otherwise, conflicts and disagreements would inevitably arise, something she wanted to avoid.
The man in the blue shirt initially thought she was about to back out, but hearing her condition, he sighed in relief. “I have no objections on my end.”
With the revised contract signed, Meng Suihuan wasted no time in finalizing it. The Xuyu branch office was officially established in Ning City. The interior was personally decorated by Lu Xiuhua, following a minimalist style. This design struck the perfect balance—it wasn’t overly plain nor overly flashy, just right. The space was divided based on practical needs, and the original company regulations were posted on the walls.
Feng Jiu, who had just joined the company and was unfamiliar with everything, could only look around curiously. Upon seeing the newly posted company rules, he hurriedly ran over to take a look and was immediately drawn to the “meals and accommodation provided” note. He couldn’t help but mentally comment, Wow, the benefits here are great! Not only do they get paid, but they also have meals and lodging covered! I have to work hard!
As he was thinking this, a woman’s voice suddenly came from behind him. “Xiao Feng, later, go with Lao Zhou and rent a few floors.” Meng Suihuan, recalling that her house had been burgled, couldn’t help but remind him, “Make sure it’s in a safe area.”
“Also, take extra care with the food arrangements,” she added.
Xiao Feng immediately agreed, and Lao Zhou, who was naturally friendly, quickly threw an arm around Xiao Feng’s shoulder. “We’ll get this done properly!”
With their new name up, they quickly set up the phone lines. A week passed by quickly, and the branch office was gradually getting on track. Meng Suihuan called everyone together for a meeting.
“Today is a special day; our Xuyu branch office is officially established,” she began with formalities before getting to the main point. “Now, let’s discuss the future direction of the company.”
“Currently, we only have the abandoned building project we just acquired, and that’s definitely not enough. We need to find new directions,” she continued. “If anyone has ideas, please feel free to speak up.”
A while ago, Meng Suihuan assigned everyone the task of traveling around Ning City on the company’s expense, exploring every corner of the city to find potential directions for the company’s future. Now, it was time to assess the results. Lao Zhou, being an impatient person, spoke up eagerly, though unfortunately, his ideas were not useful. A few others suggested two or three decent directions, and after taking a careful look, Meng Suihuan found them to be within an acceptable range, but the challenge was that establishing a foothold in Ning City quickly would still be difficult.
After a round of discussion, no suitable direction was identified, and the matter was left on hold.
Two days later, Meng Suihuan received a call from Jiang Chengxuan, who was reporting on the headquarters’ situation.
“Boss, we still have some vacant shops in the commercial plaza. I was thinking of relocating the company there.”
“Hmm?”
“The area we are in has recently been designated for redevelopment. Although the formal documents haven’t been issued yet, it should be coming soon,” Jiang Chengxuan continued. “More importantly, our office is a bit cramped now, and during meetings, half the people have to stand.”
Meng Suihuan: “…”
This was indeed true.
She had initially planned to hold the meetings in batches, but repeating the same things multiple times made her head start to ache just thinking about it. Hmm? Meng Suihuan felt something flash through her mind. She carefully replayed what Jiang Chengxuan had just said, and suddenly, an idea popped into her head. She immediately rushed out the door, holding an urgent meeting without delay!
Feng Jiu, the new employee, was still not fully accustomed to things and nervously walked into the meeting room. As for Lao Zhou, an old employee who had grown up with Xuyu, he had seen this kind of thing before. Instead of being nervous, he was a little excited.
“Boss, do you have a new idea?”
“Mm.”
“I just thought of something. Maybe we can focus on this direction.”
Everyone held their breath, waiting.
“Previously, we’ve been developing residential areas, but this time, why don’t we think outside the box? Instead of developing a residential area, let’s build a commercial office building.”
In the 21st century, there are many commercial office buildings, but in Ning City, very few people have ventured into this area. The district where their company is located, for example, has a mix of office spaces and businesses, with people of all types mingling together.
Besides that, there’s one extremely important point. Office buildings are different from commercial residential spaces. They have larger areas, more streamlined layouts, and are better suited for multiple people to work together. For a company like theirs, it’s ideal for a few or even a dozen people to work together. However, if there are too many people, not only will it be inconvenient, but it will also negatively impact work efficiency.
“…”
With this, Meng Suihuan carefully explained the concept to everyone. After she finished explaining, Lao Zhou was the first to clap. “The boss always has great ideas!”
“I can already foresee that this project will definitely cause quite a stir in Ning City,” he added.
Meng Suihuan raised an eyebrow. That was exactly the effect she wanted. After all, only by being the first to take the risk can one make the most money in the shortest time. This has always been her philosophy.
“Now, for the coming days, everyone, just like before, please write up a proposal for me. We’ll discuss it together later.”
Once the general direction was set, the rest was much easier. The proposal was finalized in just three days. Next came the issue of location. To build an office building, the area needed to have high foot traffic. But in addition to that, it should be quiet, ideally achieving a “peace amidst the hustle and bustle” effect.
After listing the requirements, Meng Suihuan handed the paper to Feng Jiu. “You can go ahead and search for places that meet these criteria. And remember, this can’t be a compromise; it has to be the best choice.”
Feng Jiu: “…”
This was no easy task!
During this period, Feng Jiu had been running all over the place, almost covering the entire Ning City. He finally shortlisted a series of potential locations that met the requirements. After carefully organizing the information, he handed over the handwritten notes to Meng Suihuan.
Meng Suihuan took a quick look, eliminating a few backup locations, and selected several that were equally suitable. She then went to inspect them in person. After several days of effort, she finally found a site that met all her requirements!
Excited, Meng Suihuan went to the relevant department, but unexpectedly ran into an old acquaintance—Director Li, whom she had met previously in Shuangyang County. To her surprise, he immediately recognized her and began telling his friend about her past heroic deeds.
Meng Suihuan: Though it’s all true, it’s still a bit awkward to listen to.
“You’ve come to check out which area this time, young lady?”
Meng Suihuan didn’t hide it and directly told him the location she was interested in. To her surprise, Director Li smiled after hearing this.
“This is quite a coincidence,” he said. “The area you’re talking about happens to be managed by my colleague, Director Zhou here.”
Now it was Meng Suihuan’s turn to be shocked. The situation seemed so unbelievable, but it was the truth. Her luck! She truly was the Empress of Luck after all!
