The Supporting Character White Lotus Overturned
The Supporting Character White Lotus Overturned Ch 22 End

Chapter 22 : End

The light inside the room was dim and ambiguous, Jiang Qianchen’s forehead was against her neck, his eyelashes like crow feathers hanging dimly in the light and shadow, the fine gaps appearing somewhat pitiful.

“Jiang Qianchen, what are you doing, let go of me!”

Yu Zhi was pressed by him and was having trouble breathing, with only their breaths intertwining in the narrow space. She clearly felt that Jiang Qianchen’s state was somewhat off. However, Jiang Qianchen seemed not to have heard her words, as if he wanted to embed her whole person into his arms, holding her even tighter. It wasn’t until Yu Zhi bit his chin that Jiang Qianchen, as if waking from a dream, let go of her hand.

“Zhizhi, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” He anxiously wanted to check if she was injured, “Where does it hurt? Shall we go to the hospital to have a look?”

Yu Zhi leaned on the sofa, breathing slowly, and upon hearing this, she almost wanted to slap him in the face. She had been bitten a few times on her neck by a dog, and if this injury was taken to the hospital by this jerk, Yu Zhi’s reputation would be ruined.

Yu Zhi didn’t even have the strength to glare at him now, she kicked Jiang Qianchen’s leg with her toe, “I just want you to get out now.”

“And leave your coat behind.”

Her clothes were all wrinkled now, going out like this, who knows what others might think.

When it came to clothes, Jiang Qianchen’s gaze darkened. The current Yu Zhi was completely different from her usual appearance, the glimpse of her slender waist made one want to hold her in their arms and commit a crime. The thought of her exposed skin being seen by those unsavory people outside made Jiang Qianchen’s barely suppressed anger start to stir again.

Jiang Qianchen couldn’t help but think of his father. When his mother insisted on leaving his side, even pleading with their only child, his mother never looked at him directly, would his father also feel this way?

Especially when he saw the bruise on Yu Zhi’s waist, her skin was too delicate, a slight rub from the rough suit could leave a mark. The darkness deep inside him constantly wanted to surge out, dominating his will.

He wanted to lock her in a beautiful and exquisite cage, where all the beauty and charm could only be seen by him, sung only for him.

But reason told him that doing so would only push Yu Zhi further away.

Just like his perpetually melancholic mother, in this seemingly noble position of being a lady of the Jiang family, it was nothing but being in a cage for her, she was not living happily.

Jiang Qianchen gripped the cufflink on his shirt, a gift Yu Zhi had given him, he rubbed it repeatedly, and after a few breaths, he calmed his emotions.

“It’s not safe for you alone, let’s go home together first.”

Jiang Qianchen took off his suit jacket, wrapping Yu Zhi tightly in the oversized coat, enveloping her entirely in black.

Yu Zhi rolled up Jiang Qianchen’s overly long suit sleeves and immediately stopped what she was doing upon hearing his words:

“I’m not going back.”

She looked directly at Jiang Qianchen without evasion, saying word by word, “I want to go to the hotel.”

Yu Zhi held onto the sofa, trying to stand up, ready to run if anything went wrong. She didn’t want to engage in any dark play with legal professionals, which was not allowed by the script. She preferred to be her ordinary supporting character who had already exited the storyline.

“Okay.”

Yu Zhi thought Jiang Qianchen would argue with her, as the kind of male lead who liked to dominate and then start a melodramatic plot of heartbreak and suffering. She didn’t expect him to agree so quickly.

She didn’t know how much effort Jiang Qianchen had put in to suppress that kind of crazy emotion. As they walked out of the private room, the people on the second floor of the bar were already in a commotion, and Jiang Qianchen’s men firmly controlled the stairs leading up, not allowing anyone to pass.

Before Yu Zhi could talk to Zhou Jingyao and Shao Qin, Jiang Qianchen took her away through a secret passage. Sitting in the car, they arrived at the hotel building at a slow pace as planned.

During this journey, Jiang Qianchen behaved very normally, restrained himself, and returned to his usual cold and gentlemanly demeanor. He showed no intention of entering her room, just stood at the door watching her go in, then had all the daily necessities she might need delivered, including her preferred brand of sanitary pads in various styles packed in a large box.

Yu Zhi found it hard to imagine how Jiang Qianchen had arranged all this. She awkwardly accepted them, but Jiang Qianchen didn’t let go.

“There’s also a box of ointment inside,” Jiang Qianchen explained under Yu Zhi’s puzzled gaze, “Applying this will help the bruise heal faster.”

Jiang Qianchen paused, “If you can’t reach the back of your neck, I can help you…”

Slam!

Yu Zhi expressionlessly closed the door to see him off.

Like a stubborn adhesive plaster, Yu Zhi had never realized that Jiang Qianchen could be so clingy. She couldn’t help but regret accepting Jiang Qianchen’s things in the first place. Over the next few days, Jiang Qianchen kept coming to the hotel with various excuses to deliver things. If it was bags or jewelry, she could firmly decline, but many things made it difficult for Yu Zhi to refuse.

Yu Zhi set down the takeout box in her hand. The dinner Jiang Qianchen brought was indeed much tastier than the hotel’s, with every dish suiting her palate. At this rate, she would gain three pounds.

Yu Zhi kicked Jiang Qianchen, who was eating beside her. He stopped his chopsticks and immediately turned to look at her, “What’s wrong? Don’t you like the food today?”

“Not really.” Yu Zhi felt awkward about driving him away directly, “Don’t you need to work recently? Why do you come to bring me food every day?”

These days, Jiang Qianchen came to the hotel every evening, personally delivering food. He would leave shortly after dinner, timing it just right.

Sitting face to face at the small table in the room, eating together, they seemed like an ordinary couple. Although they didn’t follow strict dining etiquette as before, there was a subtle warmth and spark between them. They no longer discussed divorce or going home.

“I haven’t been very busy lately.”

Jiang Qianchen calmly pushed the sweet and sour pork, which Yu Zhi ate the most, in front of her, then casually asked, “Are you free this weekend?”

The weekend was the night of the formation of “Perfect Heartthrob Idol.” Although she had now become the top boss of her own idol, meeting them was not difficult. However, witnessing the debut of the trainees was a different experience, and Yu Zhi wouldn’t miss this historic night. The program team specially arranged for her to be a member of the audience voting group. Yu Zhi had already received the ticket early and was waiting for this day to come, so she naturally had no free time.

“Not much.”

Jiang Qianchen didn’t mention the reason for his inquiry and left after a while as usual.

After closing the door, Jiang Qianchen stood in the hotel corridor for a long time without leaving. Unfortunately, to avoid the previous situation, the doctor now advised him not to meet Yu Zhi alone for more than an hour, and he could only find time during dinner. Jiang Qianchen glanced deeply at the room number plate and returned to work at the company.

The next day, Yu Zhi received a message from Secretary Xu, saying that the dress she had ordered was completed and the driver and bodyguard to the mall were arranged.

The dress was originally intended to be worn at the formation night, but now that she and Jiang Qianchen were not truly a couple, she wouldn’t go to pick it up at this time.

Yu Zhi had already decided to wear something more casual, but she didn’t expect Jiang Qianchen to bring up this matter proactively.

However, she was preparing to try on the dress at the scene for alterations when a woman dressed as a room service attendant knocked on her door:

“Hello, your custom-made dress has arrived.”

Yu Zhi opened the door suspiciously, then suddenly felt dizzy and fell into darkness.

[Ding dong~ Congratulations, host, on completing the mission!]

The system applauded and showered flowers: [Now, here’s a big reward package – congratulations on being promoted to the female lead role~]

Yu Zhi found that she couldn’t open her eyes no matter what, and upon hearing the system’s congratulations, she was speechless: “What kind of reward is this? First, tell me what’s going on.”

It turned out that the service staff just now was Lu Zhenzhen, who, under the instructions of the antagonist Xu Wenhan, had knocked out Yu Zhi in preparation for kidnapping her.

The antagonist Xu Wenhan had a longstanding grudge with Jiang Qianchen’s family. Years ago, Xu Wenhan’s mother was infatuated with Jiang Qianchen’s father and forced him to marry her even at the cost of her life. However, Jiang Qianchen’s father only had eyes for Jiang’s mother, who came from a common background, and eventually resorted to forceful means. In the end, Jiang’s mother died of depression, and Jiang’s father discovered that it was Xu Wenhan’s mother who had been scheming behind the scenes, leading to a tragic end for all involved.

Yu Zhi realized she had fallen victim to an undeserved disaster, as having the halo of the female lead meant she was either being kidnapped or on the way to being kidnapped. In the original book, the female lead Lu Zhenzhen was kidnapped and nearly died, eventually losing her memory. The author then used this plot to extend the book “Ferocious Love of the Wealthy CEO” by over a thousand chapters.

[But don’t worry, you haven’t been kidnapped yet as the country is vigorously cracking down on crime. You were promptly discovered by Jiang Qianchen’s men before being taken away~]

The system explained: [You just suffered a blow to the head, and you’ll wake up soon!]

…Fortunately, we are now in a society governed by the rule of law, and such negative and unjust scenarios must be firmly dealt with. Yu Zhi opened her eyes and saw Jiang Qianchen sitting on a chair in the hospital room, resting by her bedside.

The tired dark circles under his eyes were hard to conceal, indicating he hadn’t taken care of himself for a few days, with a faint stubble visible on his chin.

Yu Zhi remained silent and calm, observing Jiang Qianchen closely for a long time before, following his steady breathing, she stealthily kissed him on the chin.

He then effortlessly pried open her lips and they shared a silent and lingering kiss.

After the kiss, the two fell into a quiet state.

“Who are you? I’ve lost my memory.”

After a moment of steady breathing, Yu Zhi coughed and solemnly declared.

Jiang Qianchen called the doctor to examine her injuries and calmly said, “Tomorrow is the night of the formation.”

Yu Zhi: “I think I remember again.”

Due to the injury to her head, Yu Zhi’s long hair was shaved short. The patient strongly insisted on sitting in a corner below the stage to watch, adamantly refusing to go on stage as a representative for voting.

President Jiang had no choice but to fulfill her request, changing the originally prepared close-up viewing seat to a position closer to the big screen. Amid the deafening screams of the people around, he deeply questioned the meaning of life.

However, although Yu Zhi’s injuries were not serious, she had not officially healed enough to be discharged from the hospital. Jiang Qianchen helped her with water and paper, raised support signs, and finally managed to get through the program’s conclusion.

Jiang Qianchen drove back to the hospital, encountering traffic on the way. Yu Zhi held her phone, chatting away in a Weibo group.

“Sob, sob, sob, little cub has been through so much,” Yu Zhi’s eyes welled up with tears, “He deserves to debut in the spotlight! Protect the best Xiao He in the world!”

Jiang Qianchen decided to remain silent on this matter.

“But…” Yu Zhi quietly glanced at Jiang Qianchen’s profile and secretly posted a Weibo update.

Short and good for awhile. Then I did feel the story coming to an end. Which was an abrupt and unsatisfying ending. So she completed her mission which she thought she wasn’t aiming for, yet suddenly like/love her husband to post such a Weibo update? 😂 Kinda confusing to me.
