Chapter 100: Killing the Dark Gold BOSS
The enraged Slayer seemed to have some kind of radar, easily locating any player still in the battlefield and quickly massacring them. Before long, most players had fled the battlefield, but at that moment, Wu Shaochen suddenly walked in, leading the Slayer deeper into the area.
“Did someone just enter the battlefield?” someone asked after noticing.
“Who? Isn’t it suicide to go in at this time?”
“I don’t know, I didn’t see clearly. Whatever, let’s just hide. Those big guilds are clearing people everywhere for points.”
Wu Shaochen brought the Slayer deep into the battlefield and immediately charged at the massive BOSS. He wanted to ask Wu Ziyin for help, as her shield had been very effective in preventing damage, but unfortunately, the BOSS’s attack range was too far, and one mistake could instantly kill her. In the end, she had no choice but to let him handle it alone.
With a 10-level difference, Stealth was no longer useful, so Wu Shaochen didn’t bother sneaking around. As he rushed forward, the giant BOSS charged straight toward him, forcing Wu Shaochen to quickly dodge. He narrowly avoided the BOSS’s attack. The BOSS’s large size made the skill’s range quite broad, and it was hard to dodge unless one was quick enough.
After dodging, Wu Shaochen immediately rushed in. He saw the BOSS raise its foot, preparing to stomp. Wu Shaochen quickly used a strike to stun the BOSS and then applied five layers of poison before retreating. But not far from his escape, the BOSS’s stun wore off, and it immediately swung its massive axe toward him.
Wu Shaochen quickly dodged, but the attack range was too large, and he couldn’t avoid it, losing over 9,000 health. He didn’t care, however, and quickly ran away.
With over 20,000 health, nearly 1,500 defense, 40% damage reduction, and the constant healing from the Yinming Pearl, Wu Shaochen didn’t feel much pressure fighting the Dark Gold BOSS. His main concern was other players trying to steal the BOSS kill. However, at this point, most players couldn’t break the BOSS’s defenses, and with the BOSS taking over 12,000 toxin damage per second, it wasn’t easy to steal the kill.
Soon, under Wu Shaochen’s terrifying toxin damage, the Slayer’s health began to plummet. Wu Shaochen sent a message to Wu Ziyin, asking her to join him. He planned to finish off the BOSS for the points to secure the top two rewards.
Before long, Wu Ziyin arrived on her Silver Wolf mount. As the Slayer was on the verge of being killed, Wu Shaochen smirked and asked Wu Ziyin to give him a damage reduction shield. He then moved forward to attract the BOSS’s attention. A few moments later, the Slayer used a powerful area attack, shaking the ground and revealing several hidden stealthy assassins. They all vanished immediately. With Wu Ziyin’s shield, Wu Shaochen endured the attack without issue.
After three seconds, the massive Slayer finally collapsed, and Wu Shaochen received the system notification.
“System Announcement: Congratulations, you have killed the ultimate BOSS, Slayer, and gained 50,000 points. The Slayer had a total of 100,000 points, split equally between Wu Shaochen and Wu Ziyin.”
“System Announcement: Congratulations, you have killed the Dark Gold BOSS Slayer. Your toxin talent can now stack 1 additional layer, bringing the current maximum stack to 6 layers.”
“Server-wide Announcement: Congratulations to player Chenfeng for being the first to kill the Dark Gold BOSS [Slayer]. As the first player to achieve this, you have received 5,000 reputation, 100 gold, and 50 free attribute points. Special announcement!”
Although the Slayer didn’t drop equipment or experience, being a Dark Gold BOSS, the rewards were still considerable.
“What? The Slayer was killed? How is that possible?!”
Upon hearing the server-wide announcement, everyone was shocked. They all knew how powerful the Slayer was. Even with thousands of players, it couldn’t be killed. But now, it was taken down in less than 10 minutes. It was unbelievable.
“This can’t be right. We all worked hard for hours to get the BOSS to near death. How can it end up being killed by him alone?” someone complained angrily.
“Exactly, we all had a hand in this, how can he take all the credit?”
“Let’s go find him!”
In an instant, many players were furious, heading toward Wu Shaochen to confront him. They didn’t know that when Wu Shaochen took over, the BOSS’s health was already fully restored. Even if it hadn’t been, it still had over 50% health, so there was no question about it being “near death.”
As the crowd angrily marched toward the battlefield, Dream Fantasy lightly shook her head and led her guild members away from the mess. Most of the other guild leaders remained calm. Though they were shocked and envious of Wu Shaochen’s ability to kill the Slayer and collect the points, they didn’t get swept up in the drama. They knew that instead of wasting time on this, they could focus on getting more points.
However, not all guild leaders were clear-headed. Some, like the leaders of the Guild of Heroes, saw an opportunity and decided to join the crowd, heading toward Wu Shaochen.
At this time, Wu Shaochen was checking the leaderboard. With over 78,000 points, he was firmly in first place. Wu Ziyin, with 55,000 points, was in second, while the third-place player, Shen Wang, had earned around 20,000 points from his guild, putting him at over 40,000 points.
Seeing the crowd approaching, Wu Shaochen signaled for Wu Ziyin to leave on her Silver Wolf. He stood there waiting for the crowd to arrive.
Soon, a large group of players, several thousand strong, arrived in front of him. One of them stepped forward and said, “Chenfeng, you took the BOSS from us after we weakened it, you owe us an explanation.”
Wu Shaochen was momentarily stunned. Pointing at himself, then at the crowd, he said, “Me? Steal your BOSS? How shameless do you think I am?”
“Yes, when we were fighting the BOSS, you didn’t help. As soon as it was near death, you came in to steal the kill. How can you be so shameless?” another player yelled.
Wu Shaochen’s mouth twitched. This was the definition of shamelessness. He didn’t want to argue with them anymore, so he simply said, “Get lost, or I won’t hesitate to send you back.”
“Hmph, Chenfeng, don’t get too cocky. If you don’t give us an explanation today, we’re not going to let you off easy,” someone else from the crowd threatened.
“An explanation? Sure, I’ll give you one.” Wu Shaochen was tired of wasting time with these people. He flashed into the crowd and began attacking with his dagger without mercy.
“MD, this Chenfeng is too arrogant. Brothers, let’s kill him! If we kill him, we’ll take his points!” the Guild of Heroes leader shouted from the crowd.
With his words, many players’ greed was sparked. Wu Shaochen’s 70,000+ points were too tempting. If they killed him, they’d get the points for themselves.
