Chapter 14: Server-wide Announcement, Shocking the Crowd
Finally, after a grueling 36 hours of battle, the massive body of the Wild Boar King crashed to the ground.
Ding! “Congratulations, you have defeated the Black Iron-level BOSS [Wild Boar King]. You have earned 100 reputation points and 5000 experience points.”
Ding! “Talent trait triggered: Poison stacking level increased by 1.”
Ding! “Congratulations, you have leveled up. Health +20, Mana +10, you have earned 5 free attribute points. Please distribute them wisely.”
At the same time, a server-wide announcement echoed throughout the entire Huaxia server.
Server-wide Announcement: “Congratulations to player Chen Feng for defeating the Black Iron-level BOSS Wild Boar King. As the first player in the server to kill the Black Iron-level BOSS, the system grants 200 reputation points, 10 gold coins, and 10 free attribute points. This is a public notice!”
The announcement echoed three times across the Huaxia server, and the entire game seemed to freeze for a moment. It instantly became silent, and then exploded in excitement.
“What the hell, am I hallucinating? Someone actually killed a BOSS? I’ve been struggling to even beat a crab!”
“That’s impossible, the Wild Boar King’s attributes are way beyond what current players can handle!”
“Damn, are we even playing the same game? I suspect I’m playing a fake version.”
At various rookie villages, some top-tier guild leaders and renowned players were all stunned. They thought they were ahead of the curve, only to discover someone was already miles ahead of them.
8365 Rookie Village…
“Jun Lin, do you think this person could be the one from our rookie village?” Nan Feng asked gravely.
“Possibly. From what I know, no other rookie village has seen someone sell equipment with 6 attribute points. The highest is just five, so the necklace I have could be hinting at something.” Jun Lin also looked serious.
“But the Wild Boar King’s attributes—have you seen them? I can’t figure out what kind of strength would be needed to defeat it, and it’s likely they’re doing it alone.” Nan Feng said.
“I want to know too…” Jun Lin replied helplessly.
Meanwhile, a woman with a white veil muttered to herself, “Has it really gotten this strong?”
At the same time, Wu Shaochen himself was left dazed by the stream of system notifications. He didn’t know killing the Wild Boar King would trigger a server-wide announcement. But seeing the 10 gold coins reward, he quickly stopped caring about the announcement. The reward was just too good. That’s 1000 silver coins and 100,000 copper coins! He hadn’t even broken 10 silver coins yet.
And those 10 free attribute points were equivalent to two levels’ worth of stats, which was great. As for the reputation points, he wasn’t sure what they were for, but they should be useful. He’d figure it out when he got to the main city.
As his friend requests and private messages flooded in, Wu Shaochen’s notification list went crazy. He quickly set his privacy settings to block strangers from adding him as a friend or sending private messages, bringing peace once again.
Next came the exhilarating part—looting the equipment. Wu Shaochen was thrilled to see the Wild Boar King drop so many items at once. His looting speed hit its peak as he quickly gathered everything, not even letting a single copper coin slip by. After checking, he found that the Wild Boar King had dropped a total of 1 gold, 34 silver, three pieces of Black Iron equipment, four pieces of Wild Boar gear, a skill book, and a scroll.
“I didn’t expect the drop rate in this game to be so generous. This is quite rare! Looks like farming BOSSes is the way to go for wealth.” Wu Shaochen thought, looking at the Black Iron equipment. This was the first time he had seen Black Iron-level gear.
[Fang Tooth Giant Blade]
Quality: Black Iron
Physical Attack +30
Additional Attributes:
Strength +10
Required Level: 6
[Wild Boar King Armor]
Quality: Black Iron
Health +100
Defense +10
Additional Attributes:
Constitution +8
Required Level: 6
[Wild Boar King Leggings]
Health +100
Defense +10
Additional Attributes:
Bone Strength +6
Required Level: 6
Naturally, Black Iron gear was much stronger than common gear. In addition to base stats, each piece also had a random attribute, making them significantly more powerful.
As for the four pieces of Wild Boar gear—Wild Boar Leather Helm, Wild Boar Leather Armor, Wild Boar Leather Pants, and Wild Boar Belt—although Wu Shaochen didn’t need them, they could be sold for money.
He took out the skill book and scroll to inspect them.
[Savage Charge]:
Consumes 40 Mana to charge forward in a 4-meter line, stopping upon hitting a target. Deals 150% physical damage to the target and stuns for 1 second.
Learning Requirement: Warrior
This skill was a godsend for PvP, with damage, crowd control, and mobility all in one.
In Divine Judgment, after reaching level 10, players could teleport to the main city to change classes. Each class could learn two basic skills, like Healing for Priests and Fireball for Mages. After that, additional skills were learned through fighting, and there were no hidden classes. The more skills you had, the stronger you became, so skills were definitely more valuable than equipment.
“This skill book is not useful right now, but once people start changing classes, I’ll sell it for a pretty penny.” Wu Shaochen thought.
He looked at the scroll next…
[Wild Boar King Summoning Scroll]:
Summons the Wild Boar King to fight for you. Lasts 30 minutes. The scroll is consumed upon use.
“Nice, the Wild Boar King is pretty powerful. If I encounter a tough monster, I can summon it to help.”
Wu Shaochen then distributed his attribute points. After leveling up and adding 10 free points, he now had a total of 15 points to distribute. He was having some difficulty with the silver wolves in the newbie village. Since the mobility increase from skills could boost his speed by 50%, bringing it to 45, it was clear what to do: He invested all 15 points into Agility. With the 5-point speed boost from his shoes, he easily outpaced the wolves. He had it covered.
Next, he equipped the Wild Boar King Armor and Wild Boar King Leggings, instantly raising his stats to a new level.
As for the weapons, he didn’t plan on using them. The increase in attack wasn’t helpful since he still relied on poison. It would be better to sell them in an auction later. But he couldn’t do it just yet—the equipment required a certain level, so it was better to wait until everyone else leveled up.
He quickly listed the Wild Boar gear, including the Wild Boar Leather Armor, Wild Boar Leather Pants, and the other four pieces, on the auction house for a 10-minute bidding session.
After listing all the gear, there was a huge commotion in the 8365 Rookie Village. Almost everyone was certain that the player who killed the Wild Boar King was from their village.
Ten minutes later, all the gear was sold. The highest bid went for 20,000 to 30,000 coins, netting a total of 156,000 coins. After a 15% auction fee, Wu Shaochen made a clean 132,600 coins. It felt great—when your strength outpaces everyone else’s, making money was simple.
Since his stats had changed so much, he posted them again for everyone to see:
