Chapter 48: The Demonized Jungle Tiger King

In a high-end villa district in HZ city, a stunningly beautiful woman in a dark green dress was sitting at the dining table having dinner. At that moment, a middle-aged man walked into the dining room and, upon seeing the woman, asked, “Miss, aren’t you going to sleep a bit more?”

The woman shook her head and replied, “A few hours of sleep to refresh myself is enough. I’ve been in sleep mode in the game pod, so I don’t need much rest. I need to get online early and focus on leveling up.”

“By the way, Liu Shu, why are you offline at this time?” the woman asked.

Liu Shu remained silent for a moment before explaining the in-game situation to the woman.

After hearing this, the woman furrowed her brows, thought for a while, and said, “Our purpose in the game is to develop our industry, not to fight for supremacy. There’s no need to clash with the ‘Pride of the World’ guild. Let everyone hide their IDs and wear masks when leaving the city, that should work.”

“No, the ‘Pride of the World’ guild is currently guarding every city gate. Everyone is required to display their ID when leaving the city. IDs in the game can’t be changed. Even if we manage to sneak out, it will affect our players’ morale. After all, most of them are young and hot-blooded. If we do that, it’ll seem like we’re surrendering to the ‘Pride of the World,’ which many of them won’t accept,” Liu Shu said seriously.

“So, Liu Shu, what do you suggest?” the woman asked. She knew that Liu Shu must have a plan, which was why he had logged off to discuss it with her.

“Miss, what is your relationship with Chen Feng?” Liu Shu asked.

At the mention of Chen Feng, the woman’s calm expression disappeared, replaced by a look of frustration. “It’s just a normal business relationship.”

“Ha,” Liu Shu raised an eyebrow. “Miss, do you think you could ask him to cause some trouble for the ‘Pride of the World’? That way, they won’t have time to deal with us, giving us more time to develop. Our current development time is too short, but if we had more time, we wouldn’t be afraid of them.”

“Well…” The thought of Chen Feng’s attitude toward her made her head ache. Asking him for help felt difficult, and for the first time in years, she felt insecure in front of a man.

“I’ll try,” she said finally, agreeing for the sake of their business development.

Meanwhile, Wu Shaochen had been grinding in the Tiger Howl Forest since the afternoon, continuing until evening. After over six hours of grinding, he had only killed 126 Jungle Tigers, earning 52,920 experience points. His Toxic Talent reached the maximum of 480 points, his Immortal Body increased by 126 points, and his health grew by 727 points. His total health, with the title bonus, had reached 6,200 points.

After six hours, apart from his silver wolf leveling up by 15 levels, he had not gained a single level himself. His current experience was LV16: 70,406/80,000.

The grinding speed was too slow for him. It only took a few seconds to kill each Jungle Tiger, but finding them was a problem. So far, he hadn’t found a single Jungle Tiger in the entire Tiger Howl Forest, and he wasn’t sure if it was because of a quest or if the respawn time was long.

“Ugh, I wonder if the forces from that city have passed through yet. I’ve probably cleared this area pretty well, but if they haven’t gone through and the boss respawns, don’t blame me for not clearing it up,” Wu Shaochen complained. He didn’t want to grind here anymore; the efficiency was too low. If he kept grinding, the others would catch up in levels. Though he didn’t want to level too fast, he couldn’t let them surpass him either. Losing face was unacceptable.

After listing the only piece of black iron equipment he’d looted from his bag on the auction house for a price of 20,000, he saw that after six hours, the price had already dropped by 10,000 to 20,000 for each piece. Bronze equipment had already had several transactions. It seemed players’ growth speed was faster than he had expected.

“Is there even a Jungle Tiger King here, or was I lied to? Let’s see,” Wu Shaochen muttered to himself.

He continued deeper into the forest. By now, he was in the innermost part of the Tiger Howl Forest. As he ventured further, the surroundings grew quieter and darker, a little eerie, giving him a creepy feeling.

“Why is it so quiet?” Wu Shaochen swallowed nervously, feeling like something was lurking in the shadows, watching him.

“Maybe I should just turn back?” Wu Shaochen began to reconsider. The atmosphere was unnerving.

At that moment, he suddenly heard a faint swallowing sound. Though quiet, in the stillness of the forest, the noise felt out of place.

“Come out!” Wu Shaochen called out, looking toward the source of the sound, but saw nothing.

His nerves were on edge now. Without hesitation, he turned around and began running. This situation was far scarier than any horror movie he’d seen.

But just as he was running, a massive figure leapt at him.

In reflex, Wu Shaochen rolled to the side, narrowly dodging the attack. When he looked back, he saw a gigantic tiger, covered in dark mist, coming at him.

He quickly used Insight on it.

[Demonized Jungle Tiger King] (Golden-grade BOSS)

Level: ???

Attributes: ???

Skills: ???

“What the hell? Everything is a question mark? It’s 10 levels higher than me?” Wu Shaochen was dumbfounded. The ancient saying was true—don’t mess with a tiger, or you’ll regret it.

Without a second thought, he ran towards the outskirts. He couldn’t see its attributes, so he knew he had no chance of winning. The Tiger King, however, wasn’t about to let him go, and leapt at him again. Wu Shaochen quickly turned and dodged, changing direction and running in the opposite direction, which allowed him to gain some distance.

The Tiger King immediately changed direction, chasing after him. To Wu Shaochen’s shock, the tiger’s speed exceeded his own, and the distance between them was closing fast.

“This thing’s speed must be over 500, this is insane!” Wu Shaochen complained. He immediately activated his speed boost, significantly increasing his own pace, and the distance widened again.

Seeing the gap increase, the Tiger King roared loudly, releasing an invisible shockwave that hit Wu Shaochen.

-5703

Stunned for 3 seconds.

“What the hell kind of damage is that?” Wu Shaochen was taken aback and immediately used his Nullify Stun skill, continuing his frenzied escape.

After the speed boost ended, he finally escaped the Tiger King’s line of sight. But he wasn’t taking any chances and continued running for another ten minutes until he had completely left the Tiger Howl Forest. Only then did he breathe a sigh of relief, feeling his back drenched in sweat.

“Was that for real? A level 21 Jungle Tiger, and the BOSS is an unscalable Golden BOSS? I must have been misled.”

Looking back at the Tiger Howl Forest, Wu Shaochen felt like he had been walking a fine line all afternoon. He had been looking for the BOSS, but almost lost his life. It seemed that unless his strength improved, he shouldn’t come back here.

Just then, Wu Shaochen noticed a private message in his inbox. He didn’t know when it was sent, but he opened it to see.

Xue’er: “Can I ask you to help me out?”

Wu Shaochen’s eyes lit up. This was an opportunity to make money! He quickly replied, “Who are we dealing with?”

Xue’er: “The ‘Pride of the World’ guild!”

Wu Shaochen was stunned. Why was she having trouble with them?

Soon, Xue’er explained the situation, and Wu Shaochen realized that this was all because of him.

After some thought, Wu Shaochen replied, “I can help, but my fee is 200,000!”

Even though this issue was his fault, he still needed to make money. After all, this woman was rich!

Xue’er: “Deal!”
