Chapter 56: Silver Rank
After returning to Jinling City, Wu Shaochen headed straight for the War God Hall. It was just past noon, and the War God Hall was bustling with activity. To avoid trouble, Wu Shaochen went to a corner to change his clothes and swap his mask for a new look, then leisurely walked in. After confirming his location in front of the War God Mystic Realm, he entered the Silver Rank War God Mystic Realm.
In front of him appeared a war god phantom dressed in a wizard’s robe. Wu Shaochen frowned; mage-type bosses were his least favorite. He quickly cast Insight.

At his current strength, facing a Silver Rank boss wasn’t too difficult. With his high life and defense stats—thanks to his equipment—he wasn’t worried about typical Silver Rank bosses. However, fighting a mage boss in such a confined space was troublesome. There was no room to dodge the attacks, so Wu Shaochen would have to take it head-on.
While the War God Phantom’s skills seemed powerful, with his 631 magic defense, the damage was minimal. His health was over 180,000, so the danger wasn’t too high. Additionally, with his life steal properties and potions, Wu Shaochen was confident he could handle it.
He activated his Extreme Speed and charged forward, landing a Silence Strike on the phantom, which silenced it for 3 seconds. Silence was a mage’s worst nightmare; the War God Phantom could only try to flee, but it couldn’t outrun Wu Shaochen. He caught up and pummeled it, quickly stacking four poison debuffs. With each poison stack dealing 540 damage per second, the War God Phantom would suffer almost 130,000 damage in one minute.
As soon as the Silence effect ended, the War God Phantom teleported away, but with the limited space, it couldn’t go far. Wu Shaochen quickly chased it down. The phantom cast Fire Sea, covering the whole space, then followed up with Fire Rain and a Fireball barrage, severely damaging Wu Shaochen’s health.
Wu Shaochen quickly avoided the Fire Rain and tried to attack from a different angle, but the War God Phantom had hidden inside the Fire Rain area.
“Damn, it’s so smart?” Wu Shaochen was taken aback. Fortunately, Fire Rain only lasted 5 seconds. Though he could tank it, it wasn’t worth it, as it would drain too many potions.
Once the Fire Rain ended, Wu Shaochen rushed in and started attacking with his dual-wield speed. Each second, he delivered two strikes, dealing over 1300 damage per hit. His life steal also restored more than 130 health per second. With the potions keeping him healthy, there was no worry for his survival.
Under relentless attack, the War God Phantom fell at Wu Shaochen’s feet in under three minutes. He was soon teleported out, and a system prompt followed.
“Ding! Congratulations! You have successfully completed the challenge. Your rank has been upgraded to Silver Rank. All attributes +30. You’ve also received 30 free attribute points. The War God Medal has upgraded from Bronze to Silver Rank. As the first player to reach Silver Rank, you have earned a system reward: 30 additional free attribute points.”
“Feels great!” Wu Shaochen said excitedly. He wondered if the second and third players to upgrade their rank would receive attribute point rewards. He doubted it, as the system usually only rewarded the first player. Based on past experience, such rewards weren’t announced to the whole server, so no one would know he was the first to reach Silver Rank. Keeping it low-key was the way to go—quietly amass wealth.
With the 60 attribute points from his rank-up, plus another 60 from the boss kill rewards, Wu Shaochen had gained a total of 120 more attribute points than other players. This made him invincible at his current stage.
Looking at the Silver Rank War God Medal, which boosted all attributes by 30%, Wu Shaochen equipped it and then considered the remaining 80 free attribute points. With 30 from the rank-up, 30 from the system reward, and 20 left over from leveling up, he had a total of 80 points. After some hesitation, he allocated 40 points each to his Root and Agility attributes, both of which were already high but were essential for his build.

No one could catch up to him right now, and he would wake up for breakfast before getting back online. With his alarm set, Wu Shaochen fell into a deep sleep, completely exhausted.
