Chapter 88: Dark Night Lord

With the Silver Wolf’s assistance in restraining the enemies, Wu Shaochen systematically eliminated each one. In about ten minutes, he had killed the remaining three guards, gaining 360,000 experience, 17 gold coins, 5 pieces of golden gear, 8 pieces of silver, 11 pieces of bronze equipment, 4 special scrolls, a skill book, two special potions, one attribute fruit, and 3 strange keys. His 60 inventory slots were nearly full.

Two of the golden items were useful, while the other three were for warriors and shield guards.

[Guardian Leather Armor] (Golden Grade): Health +1200, Mana +800, Physical Defense +120, Magic Defense +120, Damage Reduction +10%, Additional Attributes: Constitution +35, Spirit +35, Root +35, Additional Skill: Guardian – activates a shield that absorbs 30% of max health, lasts 30 seconds, or until broken, cooldown: 5 minutes. Required Classes: Assassins, Archers.

[Guardian Bracelet] (Golden Grade): Physical Attack +340, Physical Defense +110, Attack Speed +20%, Additional Attributes: Strength +35, Root +35, Agility +35, Additional Skill: Physical Immunity – reduces physical damage for 3 seconds, cooldown: 3 minutes. Required Classes: Physical Classes.

Both equipment skills were very practical, and the Guardian Bracelet even had defensive properties, which was rare. Wu Shaochen immediately equipped them. The other three pieces—one belt and one necklace—were not as useful. He decided to keep his existing gear, even though the new necklace had slightly better attributes. However, its skill wasn’t as good as his existing Flash skill. Wu Shaochen wasn’t lacking in output, but rather in survival skills. The more survival skills he had, the better.

The skill book he obtained was for the Cloud Piercing Spear, which required a spear to use. Since Wu Shaochen didn’t use spears, he decided to sell it. The high damage of the skill was overshadowed by its limited use, so it wouldn’t sell for much.

The 4 scrolls and the special potions were what Wu Shaochen was most excited about. Three of the scrolls were ones he had used before: Skill Scroll, Fixed-point Teleportation Scroll, and Random Teleportation Scroll. The last one, [Thunderstrike], dealt a fixed 50,000 damage, which was very strong, but not as effective against bosses compared to poison skills.

Using the skill scroll on his Shadow Seven Kills, he got the prompt that the skill had reached its maximum quality and couldn’t be upgraded. Wu Shaochen now understood that when a skill displayed a color, it could no longer be enhanced.

He then used the scroll on Void.

“Ding, Void skill quality upgraded.”

[Void]: Removes all negative effects and puts the user in an immaterial space, making them untargetable for 2 seconds. Mana cost: 200, cooldown: 3 minutes.

Satisfied, Wu Shaochen looked at the remaining potions.

[Defense Elixir]: Increases defense by 50% for 10 minutes.

[Refinement Elixir]: Refines equipment attributes, including skills, creating new attributes and skills.

The Refinement Elixir was especially useful. Wu Shaochen considered using it on the recently acquired golden necklace, but decided against it. No matter how much the attributes were refined, it probably wouldn’t improve the Flash skill, which was vital for survival.

The remaining Attribute Fruit gave him +10 Root, which he promptly consumed. The more attribute fruits he could get, the better.

The three strange keys were similar to the first one he had obtained from the Lord’s Guard, and he wasn’t sure what to do with them yet.

His stats had increased as follows:

Health: 23,140
Physical Defense: 1,479
Magic Defense: 1,358
Attack: 2,786
Damage Reduction: 40%
Cooldown Reduction: 10%
Experience: LV26: 862,662/900,000.

His strength had improved quite a bit, but the crucial question now was how to get out. Wu Shaochen looked around and saw that the only remaining feature in the hall was a huge coffin. However, he felt a deep sense of fear about it and didn’t want to approach. Deciding to give it a try, he pulled out a Random Teleportation Scroll, even though it had caused him problems in the past. Unfortunately, it didn’t work due to the special nature of the map.

Sighing, Wu Shaochen decided that the only way out was to explore the coffin. After dismissing his Silver Wolf into the pet space, he cautiously approached the massive coffin, his heart racing. After some time, he reached the coffin, which was tightly locked with eight chains. He could tell that whatever was inside was not ordinary.

“Could it be a zombie?” Wu Shaochen thought, pushing against the coffin lid. It didn’t budge. He circled around it and noticed four massive locks, each one secured with a key.

With some hesitation, he took out the 4 keys he had obtained earlier and confirmed that they were the ones that would open the locks. As he unlocked them one by one, nothing seemed to happen, but he remained on high alert. When the final lock clicked open, nothing initially changed.

Just as Wu Shaochen began to relax, a faint sound came from within the coffin. The noise gradually grew louder, and suddenly, the coffin began to shake violently.

Quickly stepping back, Wu Shaochen barely had time to react before the coffin exploded, sending him tumbling to the ground. When he looked up, a massive figure with horns on its head, dressed in a black robe, and wings on its back, was floating in front of him. The figure was humanoid, but at least three meters tall, with decayed flesh and a gaping hole in its chest. It looked terrifying.

The figure stretched out its arms, emitting eerie laughter, seemingly unaware of Wu Shaochen lying on the ground. Taking advantage of the moment, Wu Shaochen quickly used his Insight skill on the figure.

[Dark Night Lord]
Reanimated Being of the Netherworld

Level: ???
Health: ???
Attack: ???

All attributes were unknown. This was clearly a boss, and Wu Shaochen had no idea what he was dealing with. However, it was clear he was in for a tough fight.

Wu Shaochen chuckled bitterly, thinking, “Looks like I’m going to lose a level…”
