Chapter 89: Falling from Grace?
After a while, the Night Lord finally turned his gaze towards Wu Shaochen, emitting a strange sound: “Human… human… blood…” He then licked his rotting lips, staring at Wu Shaochen as though he were food.
“Ugh! You bastard, do you take me for clay?!” The Night Lord’s actions almost made Wu Shaochen vomit his dinner from the night before. He was no saint—being treated like food would infuriate anyone. His temper flared as he grabbed a dagger and charged at the Night Lord.
“Ke ke!” The Night Lord saw Wu Shaochen rushing toward him and extended his hand, attempting to grab him.
Wu Shaochen used an instantaneous teleportation to dodge the grasp, reappearing behind the Night Lord. He swung his dagger, sending phantom slashes that crazily struck at the Night Lord’s body.

Non-penetrating damage kept appearing, just as Wu Shaochen had expected. His attacks had never been about causing damage, and soon, he had stacked the poison effect up to five layers. At this point, the Night Lord slowly turned around, continuing to reach for Wu Shaochen. The strikes felt like tickling the Night Lord’s skin; it seemed completely unconcerned.
Wu Shaochen quickly retreated, trying to distance himself from the Night Lord. However, the Night Lord opened his mouth wide, turning into a black hole. Wu Shaochen immediately felt his body being uncontrollably drawn towards the Night Lord’s mouth.
“Dammit, gross!” Wu Shaochen activated his Void Escape to break free of the control and quickly dashed to a distant spot during the two seconds of invincibility.
Seeing the food escape, the Night Lord flapped his wings, instantly appearing in front of Wu Shaochen.
“Damn!” Wu Shaochen quickly stopped and changed direction, but the Night Lord simply flapped his wings once and instantly caught up, lightly slapping Wu Shaochen’s back with one hand.
Feeling the incoming wind from the slap, Wu Shaochen quickly activated his bracelet’s physical immunity. He wasn’t going to let the Night Lord take him down too easily, even if he had to die.
The slap landed on Wu Shaochen, sending him flying. However, Wu Shaochen got up as if nothing had happened and continued running.
This time, the Night Lord seemed to lose patience. He stretched his hands out, creating a black circle that surrounded Wu Shaochen. No matter how hard Wu Shaochen ran, he couldn’t escape the circle’s range. After three seconds, the circle suddenly exploded.

A terrifying amount of damage appeared. There was no doubt that Wu Shaochen was dead, and his level dropped by one.
“Damn, finally free. Once I get stronger, I’ll get my revenge!” Wu Shaochen grumbled as a burst of white light enveloped him, and he respawned.
…
Wu Shaochen was dumbfounded. He found himself still in the hall, standing exactly where he had died.
“How did I die and respawn here? What the hell is this?!” Wu Shaochen panicked. A respawn in place wasn’t just a level drop—it had more serious implications.
Seeing the ants that had disappeared earlier, the Night Lord, after resurrecting, was just as confused. However, this didn’t stop him from carrying out his plan to kill the “ant” before him. He suddenly manifested a black spear in his hand, and in an instant, he charged at Wu Shaochen, stabbing him through the chest.

Wu Shaochen died again, his level dropping to 24. He could have used his flash or Shadow Seven Kills to dodge this attack, but he didn’t bother—it was only two extra seconds of life.
“Getting impaled by a spear really hurts,” Wu Shaochen muttered. Even though he only felt 15% of the pain, the sensation of being pierced through was excruciating.
Wu Shaochen respawned once more, staring at the Night Lord, who was still baffled. This time, Wu Shaochen wasn’t confused. He quickly collected the equipment that had dropped and checked his status. It seemed the level drop didn’t affect him much. Although his attributes from leveling up were lost, his talent for poison and his immortality didn’t decrease, so the impact was minimal.
What surprised Wu Shaochen was that even after two deaths, the poison on the Night Lord remained. It continued to deal 10,000 damage per second, and Wu Shaochen’s eyes gleamed with a strange light.
After being killed twice in quick succession, Wu Shaochen’s ranking on the external level leaderboard plummeted from first to ninth, sparking a flurry of discussions.
“Damn, what’s going on? How did the god of dust fall so fast?”
“Yeah, did someone kill him?”
“Who has the ability to kill the god of dust twice?”
“Who knows, I heard he offended some forces in Jinling City. Maybe he was surrounded.”
“Even if he was surrounded, he should have only lost one level. Why did he lose two?”
“Maybe he got killed, and in frustration, rushed out to fight again, only to get killed a second time.”
“Damn, look, he’s off the leaderboard!”
“Really? Did he get killed again?”
“Which force is so strong that they managed to kill the god of dust three times?”
“Wuwuwu, god of dust, you have to hang in there! Don’t go out and fight again! You’re my idol!”
The situation quickly spread across the entire Divine Command platform, and forums were abuzz with speculation.
[Has the god of dust fallen from grace?]
[Who or what force could kill the god of dust three times in such a short period? Let’s speculate.]
[No matter how strong an individual is, they can’t fight a guild. The god of dust may be killed off in the newbie village.]
[A once great god has now faded into history.]
Various posts flooded the forums, and rumors spread rapidly.
Major guilds and powerful players were all closely monitoring the situation.
North Desert City…
The Hell Messenger sneered, “Seems like treating him as a worthy opponent was a joke.”
Great Deer City…
The God King furrowed his brows and muttered to himself, “This shouldn’t have happened.” He hadn’t truly felt the strength of the god of dust, but from the fact that he had solo-cleared the Linlang Dungeon two days ago, someone like that shouldn’t be so easily killed. But if it were a BOSS doing the killing, how could they have killed him three times?
Many others had similar doubts. At this moment, in Autumn Water City, Dreamy Dance furrowed her brows tightly, “What’s going on here?”
But the happiest person was none other than Proud Sky, who couldn’t stop smiling.
“Boss, who do you think is so strong that they can kill the god of dust three times?” Proud Sky asked, grinning.
“How would I know? Anyway, just let them handle it. You guys go find out who it is or what force did this, and let me know. I’ll buy them a drink,” Proud Sky replied happily. Ever since encountering the god of dust, things had gone downhill for him. Today, he finally had a chance to feel good.
At this moment, Ling Shao and his two companions were killing monsters, and the two companions spoke among themselves.
“Haha, this kid got what he deserved.”
“Yeah, I bet he’s going to get killed off in the newbie village soon.”
Ling Shao, however, frowned. He had just been defeated by the god of dust, and to his surprise, someone was able to kill the god of dust three times so quickly. This was a big blow to him.
