Chapter 96: The Commander of the Team

The atmosphere in the area grew tense as everyone looked at Wu Shaochen and his companion in surprise. At that moment, the leader of the “Pride of the World” guild had a bitter expression on his face. How could he be so unlucky, encountering him wherever he went?

“Who has the most points among you?” Wu Shaochen asked, his tone casual.

The members of “Pride of the World” all turned their gazes to their guild leader, whose face looked even worse at the moment.

“Chen Feng, what… what do you want?” The guild leader asked with a dark face.

“Nothing much. I just need your points,” Wu Shaochen said nonchalantly as he charged toward the leader.

“Damn it, what are you standing around for? Attack him!” The guild leader shouted, but after a brief hesitation, none of the members made a move. Most of them were scared stiff by Wu Shaochen, and even though there were a few hundred of them, they wouldn’t dare to act against him, especially when there were only about forty people now. “Pride of the World” guild was definitely the one with the clearest understanding of Wu Shaochen’s strength—after all, thousands of them couldn’t even kill him, let alone a few dozen.

It didn’t take long for the guild leader to be taken down by Wu Shaochen, earning him 244 points, which was a decent haul. Noticing that the rest of the “Pride of the World” members hadn’t made a move, Wu Shaochen couldn’t be bothered to go on a killing spree and instead asked, “How did you all end up together like this? Is forming illegal teams allowed?”

“After we entered, we shared our locations. The closer ones naturally gathered together. This way, we can minimize casualties and advance more quickly!” One of the members of “Pride of the World” explained.

“Oh? So ‘Pride of the World’ is quite clever,” Wu Shaochen remarked.

“Uh, actually, most big guilds do it this way,” the man replied.

“If you don’t keep your mouth shut, no one will think you’re mute. Get lost, or you won’t be leaving!” Wu Shaochen snapped, feeling like a fool after hearing the response.

As soon as Wu Shaochen finished speaking, all the “Pride of the World” members quickly fled. The remaining team members, “Junlin,” looked at each other in surprise. “What exactly did Chen Feng do to make them so scared?”

Once the “Pride of the World” members had disappeared, Junlin and his companions walked over to Wu Shaochen and cupped their hands in greeting, saying, “Chen Feng, I’ve heard a lot about you. I didn’t expect to run into you here instead of at the village!”

“Village? You’re from the 8365 village too?” Wu Shaochen asked.

“Yes, my name is Junlin, and these are my friends: Haoran, Nanfeng, Xiaobei, and Linzi,” Junlin introduced them, and the others greeted Wu Shaochen as well.

“Junlin? Oh, I know you now. You owe me money, don’t you?” Wu Shaochen suddenly said.

“Huh? When did I owe you money?” Junlin was completely caught off guard by Wu Shaochen’s statement.

“You’re the first player to switch to Archer, right? If I hadn’t killed the Silver Wolf King and fixed the teleportation array, would you have been the first to become an Archer?” Wu Shaochen said.

“Haha, now that you mention it, you’re right. So how much do you want?” Junlin laughed.

“Haha, just kidding, I don’t want any money. But I’ve set my eyes on this BOSS. How about you let me have it?” Wu Shaochen said.

“Who’s to say who gets to keep the BOSS? The one with the ability gets it. Go ahead and kill it, I’ll keep watch. If you need help, feel free to ask us,” Junlin replied, then with his companions, they moved a little farther away to watch Wu Shaochen fight the BOSS. No one wanted to have other people near when fighting a BOSS, and Junlin knew that someone like Wu Shaochen, who could kill a Golden BOSS, didn’t need their help to handle a Silver BOSS.

Seeing them stand at a distance, Wu Shaochen nodded in approval, thinking to himself, “This guy’s not bad.”

He then turned his attention to the Silver-level Bloodthirsty Beast, which had 3400 attack and 900,000 health. For a Silver BOSS, its damage was relatively high.

“Ziyin, give me a shield,” Wu Shaochen said to Wu Ziyin. Then, he charged toward the BOSS. With a high damage reduction of 86%, this BOSS couldn’t even touch him. Even if the shield wore off, with the help of the Ghost Pearl and Wu Ziyin’s healing, along with the suppression from the Force Field and the Silver Wolf King’s buffs, he could still take the BOSS head-on.

Before long, the Bloodthirsty Beast was brought down in just over a minute, earning Wu Shaochen 1,000 points. With the points from the guild leader’s kill, Wu Shaochen now had a total of 2,108 points, leading by a large margin.

Junlin and his companions, who had been watching from a distance, were stunned. Even though they knew Wu Shaochen was powerful, they hadn’t realized just how outrageous his strength was. In just over a minute, he had dealt over 800,000 damage alone. Junlin couldn’t even begin to imagine the scale of such power. He knew that Wu Shaochen was much stronger than they had thought.

Soon, Wu Shaochen walked over with Wu Ziyin and said, “Thanks for keeping watch.”

Junlin gave a bitter smile and said, “With your speed, who could steal the BOSS from you?”

But those words made Wu Shaochen feel embarrassed because he had just had a BOSS stolen from him recently. Even though he eventually killed the thief, the humiliation still lingered.

Junlin then said, “Well, since the BOSS is dead, we’ll part ways here. If it’s convenient, let’s add each other as friends. If not, just ignore me.”

“Sure!” Wu Shaochen quickly sent a friend request. Junlin was someone he genuinely respected.

After adding each other as friends, they parted ways. Even though Junlin knew how strong Wu Shaochen was, he didn’t want to join him. He had his own pride, and although his team wasn’t as powerful as Wu Shaochen’s, they weren’t inferior to other teams.

“Better pick up the pace,” Wu Shaochen thought. Those big guilds traveled in large groups, so their speed would be fast. It was also likely they’d concentrate their points on a few people, meaning their scores would increase rapidly.

After walking for over half an hour, they had killed hundreds of regular Bloodthirsty Beasts, five Black Iron-level ones, three Bronze-level ones, and two Silver-level ones. They finally emerged from the dense forest, finding themselves in a vast battlefield. This used to be a forest, but after a great war, all the trees had been destroyed, leaving only barren land.

Wu Shaochen looked at the battlefield before him, filled with countless Bloodthirsty Beasts, feeling his scalp tingle. “Isn’t this a bit excessive?” he muttered.

Looking at the map, the red dot indicating the center was still quite far. To reach it, they would have to clear the area along the way.

Wu Shaochen had no choice but to continue clearing the beasts. He couldn’t rush too fast, though, because if they got surrounded, he could handle it, but Wu Ziyin definitely couldn’t.

The Bloodthirsty Beasts were densely packed, slowing their progress significantly. Soon, players began emerging from the forest. When they saw the endless swarms of Bloodthirsty Beasts, their scalps tingled as well. As more players arrived, they finally stopped fighting each other and coordinated to clear their designated areas as they advanced toward the center.
