Chapter 98: Dark Gold Boss
As more and more people entered the battlefield, the number of Bloodthirsty Beasts was being cleared at an incredibly fast pace. By this point, most of the participants had met up. However, the people who had made it this far were no ordinary individuals. Everyone had the same goal in mind. Though they were all eyeing each other’s points greedily, no one had yet broken the rules and attacked.
Wu Shaochen led Wu Ziyin, walking at the forefront, with the silver wolf following behind. The three of them had no choice but to stick together. Wu Shaochen was leading the way, the silver wolf was providing rear support, and Wu Ziyin was in the middle, healing the wounds. Even Wu Shaochen felt the immense pressure as they pressed forward. The further they went, the more concentrated the Bloodthirsty Beasts became. By now, every step they took involved clearing dozens, if not hundreds, of Bloodthirsty Beasts.
The trio had been moving for more than ten minutes when they finally neared the red dot on their maps. Wu Shaochen spotted the Boss at the center of the red dot, and to his surprise, it wasn’t a Bloodthirsty Beast, but a gigantic beast. Standing upright, it was at least five meters tall, resembling the Hulk in appearance, with a massive axe in hand. Its presence alone was enough to make anyone’s heart race in fear.
“This thing looks like trouble,” Wu Shaochen thought, quickly casting his Insight skill to examine it.

After reviewing the Boss’s attributes, Wu Shaochen hesitated for a moment before deciding to retreat. If there had been no other players around, he would have certainly engaged the Dark Gold Boss—after all, his current power was more than sufficient to take it on. However, the situation was different now. The battlefield was full of Bloodthirsty Beasts, and there were too many players surrounding the area. If he were to attack now, other players would undoubtedly notice and rush in. Facing so many strong players, even he wouldn’t be able to make a clean escape. The battlefield had at least 20,000 to 30,000 strong participants, and Wu Shaochen wasn’t confident he could take them all on.
“Let this big guy harvest some crops first,” Wu Shaochen thought to himself, then pretended not to notice, leading Wu Ziyin to continue clearing nearby Bloodthirsty Beasts.
Half an hour later, 90% of the regular Bloodthirsty Beasts had been cleared from the battlefield. The few scattered ones in the distance weren’t worth bothering with. By this point, nearly everyone had noticed that the red dot at the center was a Dark Gold Boss, which made them both frightened and cautious. None dared approach it, opting instead to target the remaining three Golden Grade Bloodthirsty Beasts.
There were only four Golden Grade Bloodthirsty Beasts in the whole battlefield. Wu Shaochen had already killed one, and the remaining three had appeared. However, none had been slain yet. As a result, the area around the three Golden Grade Beasts was now packed with people, and intense battles broke out. Due to the fact that players came from various factions, many were not only fighting the boss but also attacking each other. It quickly turned into a full-blown skirmish, and a massive battle raged across the entire battlefield.
Wu Shaochen chuckled. “So it’s starting already? The main show hasn’t even begun!”
Seeing the escalating chaos, Wu Shaochen led Wu Ziyin away from the battlefield, leaving her hidden outside. He then rushed straight toward the giant Boss. If they were going to fight, then he would make sure the battle would be more intense.
Soon, Wu Shaochen was back near the giant Boss, but to his surprise, there was a group of reckless players already attempting to engage it.
Activating his Stealth skill, Wu Shaochen decided to watch how these players dared challenge the Dark Gold Boss. With only 500 players, they had no chance against such a formidable opponent. Didn’t they see its stats? It was clearly not something they could handle.
“Oh, right, it’s level 40. Only I can see its stats,” Wu Shaochen realized. Even so, couldn’t they see the giant letters saying “Dark Gold Boss”? How could anyone miss that?
While Wu Shaochen was deep in thought, the reckless players launched their attack. Over 80 archers fired Armor-Piercing Arrows simultaneously, setting off the beginning of their suicidal attempt.
The Boss was instantly agitated. It charged forward at high speed, knocking everyone in its path away. The unfortunate players didn’t even have time to react before disappearing in a flash of white light.
The giant Boss tore through the crowd, causing mayhem and leaving behind a trail of devastation.
“Holy sh*t, what the hell is this! We can’t fight it, retreat!”
Players immediately scattered in all directions, but the giant Boss’s speed of 750 was far beyond their ability to outrun. With each massive step, it covered several meters, and within moments, the 500-player group had been wiped out. However, they had inadvertently led the Boss right into the heart of the crowd.
“Good job,” Wu Shaochen silently praised. This was exactly what he had hoped for.
As players cursed and panicked, Wu Shaochen quietly moved toward one of the Golden Grade Bloodthirsty Beasts that had been neglected. Due to the sudden appearance of the Dark Gold Boss, many players who were surrounding this Golden Grade Boss had been wiped out by the Boss’s powerful skills. Now, this Golden Grade Beast was left unguarded, while the other two, which were farther away, still had a large number of players attacking them.
Wu Shaochen quickly dealt a set of skills to the Golden Boss and began leading it away from the chaos.
Although most players were focused on the Dark Gold Boss, a few noticed Wu Shaochen’s actions and began to follow him. However, they couldn’t catch up, as he killed the Golden Boss in less than two minutes. Just as the Boss’s health was almost depleted, a figure suddenly appeared behind Wu Shaochen, striking the Boss with a dagger.
“Hmph, you think you can pull that off again?” Wu Shaochen sneered, refusing to repeat the same mistake. As soon as the figure appeared, Wu Shaochen blinked and positioned himself in front of the intruder, blocking the attack. Just one second later, the Golden Boss fell, and the would-be thief was left empty-handed.
