Chapter 1 The Timid Home Tutor of the Profligate Evil Young Master (1)
(Finally coming out of the small dark room again \(`Δ’)/\(`Δ’)/ It’s too difficult)\
“Father… You’re back.”
Luo Yan smelled the overwhelming smell of alcohol on the man and felt uneasy. She was afraid he would go crazy from drinking later and start hitting people.
This kind of thing has happened more than once. Lately, the man’s business has been bad, his temper has become more irritable, and coming home to vent his anger and resorting to violence has become quite common.
Unexpectedly, Luo Hongda’s reaction was beyond Luo Yan’s expectations. He waved at Luo Yan, “Yan Yan, come here.”
Luo Hongda’s tone was unusually gentle and kind.
Luo Yan became even more uneasy, but still went over to help the man up, squatting down to change his shoes to indoor slippers.
Supporting Luo Hongda all the way to the dining table, and after helping the man sit down, Luo Yan dared to go into the kitchen to bring out the hot meal and the sobering soup.
Luo Hongda and Luo Yan started eating dinner.
Of course, most of the time, it was only Luo Yan eating.
Luo Hongda had obviously eaten outside already, his bloodshot eyes staring closely at Luo Yan, scanning back and forth, as if evaluating a product.
Being scrutinized by her father like this made Luo Yan very uncomfortable, but she didn’t dare say anything. She could only silently eat, hoping to finish washing the dishes later and quickly return to her room to do her homework.
Just as she picked up a piece of green bean and put it in her mouth, she heard Luo Hongda clear his throat.
“Yan Yan, Dad has something to discuss with you. Dad had dinner with Manager Pei today, and he was complaining about his son’s poor grades, wanting to find a tutor for him— ” Luo Hongda paused, picked up the soup and took a few sips, glanced at Luo Yan with his eyes.
“I thought your grades are good, the same age as Young Master Pei, and conveniently in the same school. So, I mentioned this to Manager Pei, who was very happy and specifically asked you to give it a try!”
“Manager Pei said, it’s great to have someone of the same age, in the same school, there will be a lot to talk about. Yan Yan, if you can tutor Young Master Pei well, it will give your dad face in front of Manager Pei!”
With just a few words, Luo Hongda turned what was supposed to be a matter of asking for Luo Yan’s opinion into something as if it were already decided.
When Luo Yan heard that her father wanted to send her to the Pei family to tutor the young master of the Pei family, she had already stopped eating.
She lowered her head, staring at the green beans in the bowl, silent for a while, until Luo Hongda waited for a long time and didn’t see Luo Yan’s response, about to impatiently slam the table, she finally heard her usually obedient and gentle daughter speak up.
Her voice was somewhat weak, as if she was trying hard to suppress her trembling and grievance.
“Young Master Pei…, which… Young Master Pei is it?”
Luo Hongda frowned, seeming to find this question very foolish.
“How many Young Masters Pei can there be in Haicheng? The only son of the Pei family, Pei Yao!”
In response to Luo Hongda, there was an even weaker voice from Luo Yan—
“Oh… I see.”
That settled it, Luo Hongda, for the first time, didn’t let Luo Yan wash the dishes. He asked her to quickly go back to her room, pack her things, and get ready to be sent over early the next morning.
This is what Luo Hongda said: “Manager Pei said, his son’s temper is not very good, who knows when he wants to study and when he doesn’t, the tutoring schedule should ideally follow Young Master Pei’s mood. Since you’re on summer vacation anyway, idle at home, it’s better to go live at their place, it’s convenient, and you can also cultivate a better relationship with Young Master Pei.”
Luo Hongda patted Luo Yan’s shoulder with a meaningful look, “Manager Pei values his son a lot, you, don’t disappoint your dad.”
Luo Yan agreed.
She returned to her room, sat on the edge of her bed, with a half-packed suitcase at her feet.
Apart from clothes and books for changing, she didn’t have much to pack.
The 20-inch suitcase was only half full.
Luo Yan felt like a suitcase, carried around when needed, and thrown in a corner to gather dust when not needed.
Her eyes felt a bit sore, Luo Yan blinked, she bent down and rolled up the loose legs of her pants, revealing a patch of purple bruises on her slender legs. She lowered her head and applied the swelling ointment, the cotton swab brushed against her delicate skin, bringing a burning sensation.
Even though she was already 18 years old, a young adult, Luo Yan cried like a spoiled child as she applied the ointment.
Tears blurred her beautiful eyes, she lightly bit her well-shaped red lips, whispering softly:
“Mom, why don’t I feel pain when you apply ointment for me.”
“I miss you, Mom.”
……
In the bathroom.
Luo Yan, with red and swollen eyes, carelessly washed her body, while her mind uncontrollably started to fear what was going to happen tomorrow.
She lightly bit her teeth, repeatedly muttering the name of that person in her heart—Pei Yao, Pei Yao.
That depraved evil young master who doesn’t study, bullies classmates, beats up teachers, yet has a pair of wealthy and powerful parents who are extremely indulgent towards him.
As long as Pei Yao doesn’t kill anyone, no matter how much trouble he gets into, they turn a blind eye, allowing him to act recklessly.
And Luo Yan, was just a tool for Luo Hongda to cling to the Pei family and please them.
Even after she finished washing and lay in bed, Luo Yan was still thinking about Pei Yao, and even in her deep sleep, the boy’s violent eyes appeared in her dreams.
Pei Yao’s tall figure leaned against the wall, a half-smoked cigarette in his mouth, wispy smoke slowly escaping from his slightly raised lips. He must have just finished a fight, because his open collar was still stained with someone’s blood.
He just looked at her with a squint, his eyes seemed to have heavy hooks, firmly locking on to Luo Yan who passed by, making her shudder, only daring to hug her book and quickly walk through the safety passage that should be empty.
Please, let me go. Luo Yan’s heart was filled with such cowardly prayers.
She was afraid of being called by Pei Yao, maybe afraid of being insulted, or perhaps getting a good beating.
But nothing happened in the end.
She only heard Pei Yao’s throat roll as he chuckled.
Then, they passed each other, Luo Yan’s back was still drenched in cold sweat.
Outside the dream, on the narrow single bed, Luo Yan unconsciously curled up into a ball.
