Chapter 10 The Cowardly Tutor of the Arrogant Playboy
He was ordering dishes, watching as Luo Yan stood up. Her feet, wrapped in stockings, timidly stepped onto the wooden floor. She walked for a while before seeming to take an interest in the fish tank in the corner. With a soft *tap tap tap*, she ran over and bent down to admire the colorful tropical fish.
Pei Yao’s lips curled into a smile. His little tutor probably hadn’t even realized it yet, but in front of him, she had become increasingly relaxed and uninhibited.
As the dishes were gradually served, Pei Yao softly called to his little tutor, “Baby, come over and have some soup.”
He scooped a bowl of miso soup for Luo Yan, and she took up the wooden spoon, sipping a mouthful. Her eyes widened as she exclaimed to Pei Yao, “This tastes so good!”
The rich aroma filled her senses, and the flavor was smooth and savory.
Pei Yao picked up a peony prawn and stuffed it into Luo Yan’s mouth, teasing, “Eat more shrimp. It’ll boost your brainpower.”
Luo Yan pouted, thinking to herself that with Pei Yao’s lousy grades, he was the one who needed the brain boost the most!
Seeing how happily Luo Yan was eating, Pei Yao casually took a few bites himself and felt fairly full.
He opened a bottle of sake for himself and sipped a little before Luo Yan grabbed his wrist, shaking her head disapprovingly at him. “No drinking and driving, and no driving after drinking.”
“Tsk,” Pei Yao chuckled, flicking Luo Yan’s nose playfully. “My little tutor, you’re quite the strict one.”
Obediently, he set down the sake cup.
Luo Yan, however, grew curious about the wooden cup filled with clear liquid. She leaned closer to sniff it, greeted by a fresh and fragrant aroma of sake.
“Pei Yao, can I try a little of this?” Luo Yan clung to his wrist, shaking it gently. “Just a small sip, okay?”
Pei Yao thought the alcohol content wasn’t too high, so he figured there was no harm in letting her drink.
Who would’ve thought that after one sip, Luo Yan couldn’t stop, taking gulp after gulp. Pei Yao, surprised, leaned on his hand, watching her drink in astonishment.
“My little tutor, who knew you could drink like a fish,” Pei Yao said with a laugh, giving Luo Yan’s bottom a playful pat.
Before long, Luo Yan’s face turned bright red from the alcohol.
Her eyes glazed over as she waved the cup in front of Pei Yao, pouting, “This is so good! I want more.”
Great, Pei Yao thought to himself, she’s not just a drinker, she’s a little drunk kitten.
Turns out his baby was a lightweight!
Pei Yao took the cup from Luo Yan’s hand, pulling her into his arms, and kissed her deeply.
“I want… more…” she murmured.
“Alright, alright, I’ll buy you a whole case to take home—now focus on kissing, baby…”
“Mmm… yeah…”
Their lips and tongues tangled, and Luo Yan felt like she was floating on clouds beneath the warm sun. She scratched at Pei Yao’s chest as a thought suddenly popped into her head: “Pei Yao, I can cook really well too!”
As if showing off, she pointed at the soup on the table. “Believe it or not, I could make this for you too.”
“Yeah, yeah, baby, you’re amazing,” Pei Yao murmured between kisses, his voice laced with desire.
“Mmm… stop touching me… I want to cook…” Luo Yan suddenly struggled, throwing a punch.
Pei Yao winced in pain, his face twisting into a mask of agony.
“I love cooking,” Luo Yan said, nuzzling against Pei Yao’s neck, snuggling close to him.
With one arm around her, Pei Yao used his other hand to clutch his aching groin. “Tsk.”
“Only cooking?” He squeezed Luo Yan’s cheek playfully. “Say it—say you love me!”
“L-love me…” Luo Yan mumbled, lying limply in Pei Yao’s broad embrace.
“No, say ‘I love Pei Yao!'”
“I love Pei Yao…” Luo Yan repeated, each word tumbling out slowly, robotically.
“Good girl.” Pei Yao ruffled her hair. “Remember what you said, baby.”
Luo Yan’s face flushed, and she giggled foolishly.
…
That afternoon, Pei Yao ended up taking the drunken Luo Yan to the private auction.
After swiping his membership card, Pei Yao supported Luo Yan as they walked, practically stuck together like conjoined twins, attracting quite a bit of attention.
Pei Yao couldn’t be bothered with the onlookers. He wrapped an arm around Luo Yan’s slender waist and carefully placed her on a chaise lounge in a spacious private lounge.
He stuffed a “supposedly very delicious” little cake into Luo Yan’s mouth. Dazed, Luo Yan nibbled on the cake, her wide eyes looking up at Pei Yao.
“Baby,” Pei Yao gently patted her head, “Be good and wait for me here.”
“Don’t wander off, okay?”
The ever-obedient Luo Yan nodded so vigorously that she almost dropped the cake from her mouth.
Pei Yao closed the door to the lounge and went off to find the host of today’s auction—a renowned collector of high-end luxury goods.
Pei Yao had no interest in the auction items; he was there to find the perfect gift for Luo Yan.
When he met the laid-back man hosting the event, Pei Yao wasted no time stating his purpose. He wanted to purchase a globally limited-edition women’s wristwatch that had already been discontinued.
“Ah, you mean the Van Cleef & Arpels Flower Clock series—” the man adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses with a slight chuckle, “Is it for your little lover?”
The story of Pei Yao bringing a sweet young beauty to the auction had already made its rounds.
“She’s not my lover, she’s my wife!” Pei Yao scoffed, his lips twitching in frustration. “And I want a brand new one, no second-hand goods.”
“Good taste.”
It was unclear whether the man was referring to the watch or to Luo Yan.
Not particularly interested in the love lives of the younger crowd, the man signaled his assistant with a nod. “Follow them,” he said, indicating Pei Yao should go fetch the item.
Meanwhile, Luo Yan sat groggily on the chaise lounge, shaking her head in an attempt to clear it.
The window in the lounge was open just a crack, allowing the summer heat to sneak in. The warm breeze brushed against her nose, fighting with the air conditioning overhead.
Luo Yan shivered in the heat, sobering up a bit. She still remembered Pei Yao’s parting instructions and obediently stayed on the chaise lounge, waiting for him.
However, as time passed in the unfamiliar room, and Pei Yao still hadn’t returned, a sense of unease crept into her heart.
Eventually, her anxiety got the better of her. She stood up and paced around the room. When she tried to open the door to peek outside, she found it locked from the outside—Pei Yao probably didn’t want her wandering off.
After waiting a bit longer, most of the alcohol had worn off, and Luo Yan couldn’t resist the urge to call Pei Yao.
She pulled out her phone, only to realize that she didn’t even have Pei Yao’s number. Frustrated, she slapped her forehead and slumped back onto the chaise, feeling like a defeated dog.
Finally, the sound of soft footsteps came from outside. Luo Yan leaped up from the chaise, her face lighting up with uncontainable excitement as she rushed to the door.
When Pei Yao opened the door, he was greeted by the sight of his little tutor, her eyes filled with grievance, timidly asking where he had gone.
Pei Yao’s heart melted instantly. With his right hand hidden behind his back, he flashed a charming smile. “I’m sorry, baby, did I keep you waiting too long?”
“Did you miss me?”
Luo Yan’s ears flushed red. She realized she had indeed been a little obsessed—it had to be because of the alcohol!
She lowered her head, staring at her toes, her eyes darting around, avoiding Pei Yao’s question.
Pei Yao chuckled, clearing his throat before speaking to Luo Yan. “Baby, I have a gift for you.”
“A gift?” Luo Yan lifted her head, and the word “gift” seemed to stir her alcohol-soaked brain, making it bubble with excitement.
