“The Top Student Prodigy Travels to the 1970s with a Magical Space” Chapter 34

Chapter 34: Ascending the Mountain with Mo Haoyue

Mo Haoyue returned with a disgruntled expression. Mi Xia pondered, realizing that ever since she had fallen out with the villagers, he hadn’t been in a good mood upon returning home.

Mi Xia tiptoed, patting Mo Haoyue’s shoulder. “Whatever’s bothering you, let it go with the wind. As long as our family is happy, that’s all that matters.”

Mo Haoyue sighed softly. “Wife, I’m fine. Having you and our daughter in my life, I’m already incredibly happy.”

“Let’s go, back to the room.” Mi Xia promptly closed the door, pulling Mo Haoyue into the space.

Mi Xia said, “Go take a bath, then lie down and rest for a while.”

“Okay, you rest too.” He then headed towards the bathroom.

Mi Xia prepared some fruit and milk for Mo Haoyue to eat upon his return. She herself enjoyed Oreos and milk tea, reclining in a rocking chair, so comfortable she almost fell asleep.

When Mo Haoyue emerged, Mi Xia was already asleep.

Mo Haoyue didn’t wake her. He sat on the sofa, eating fruit and looking at the Oreos beside Mi Xia. He picked one up and ate it.

Surprisingly, they were quite delicious. Before he knew it, Mo Haoyue had finished the entire pack of Oreos. He chuckled awkwardly, feeling like a child.

Seeing Mi Xia still asleep, he remembered that the trash can automatically decomposed waste, quickly disposing of the evidence—the packaging—into the bin.

After washing his hands, he pretended to nonchalantly read a book. He could easily immerse himself in any book he picked up, as the books in the space were all from over 40 years in the future.

“Wife, wake up, your sister-in-law is calling us for dinner,” Mo Haoyue gently nudged Mi Xia.

Mi Xia opened her eyes groggily. “Ah, oh, okay, I understand.”

After washing her face, she became more alert. “Mo Haoyue, how did I fall asleep?”

Mo Haoyue replied, “I don’t know either. You were already asleep when I finished showering.”

Mo Haoyue felt guilty, fearing Mi Xia would discover he’d eaten all the Oreos. He said, “Wife, let’s go out quickly. Sister-in-law will be worried.”

Mi Xia took Mo Haoyue’s hand, and they reappeared in their room, with Zhang Hongxia still outside the door.

“Sister-in-law, we’re coming,” Mi Xia quickened her pace towards the door.

“Hurry and eat, it’ll get cold,” Zhang Hongxia didn’t ask what they were doing in the room.

When they arrived, the children were sitting obediently at the table, none of them having sneaked any food. Zhang Hongxia seemed to have taught them well.

Thanks to Mi Xia’s spiritual spring water, everyone in the family had rosy cheeks and stronger bodies. Illnesses were rare now.

Recently, Mi Qiu had discussed with Zhang Hongxia that not only was their family doing better, but no one was getting sick anymore. Previously, Mi Weiguo had been very weak, gasping for breath even when collecting firewood from the mountain.

Now, he could even help with chores after school without getting winded.

After dinner.

“Sister-in-law, Mo Haoyue and I are going out for a while. We might not be back tonight. If we don’t return, have Xiaxia and Xiaohuan sleep,” Mi Xia instructed.

“Okay, don’t do anything dangerous, and come back early after you’re done,” Zhang Hongxia said worriedly.

Mi Xia responded and left with Mo Haoyue.

Mo Haoyue asked, “Wife, we’re not coming back tonight?”

Mi Xia replied, “Mm, I want to stay a while longer. I haven’t been to the mountains in a long time; there must be lots of little animals.”

They took an ox cart. Upon arrival, Mi Xia took out two daggers from the space, handing one to Mo Haoyue.

Mi Xia said, “Take this, it’ll be useful for self-defense if you encounter any danger.”

Mo Haoyue didn’t refuse, taking it immediately. They walked hand-in-hand into the deep mountains.

Along the way, Mi Xia mostly just picked vegetables, while Mo Haoyue did most of the hunting. He’d hit a pheasant with a stone, and it would fall to the ground.

With wild ducks, a stone from Mo Haoyue would bring them down, and he’d retrieve them from the water. If he spotted wild duck eggs, he’d pick them up and give them to Mi Xia.

Since there were many duck eggs in some areas, Mi Xia gave him a bag to collect everything.

Soon, they ventured deeper. Mo Haoyue spotted a deer. Before Mi Xia could react, he had already dragged the deer over.

Mi Xia blankly put the deer into the space, then mechanically collected the other food Mo Haoyue brought.

“Wife, there’s ginseng! Come and see how old it is,” Mo Haoyue urgently called Mi Xia over.

“At least two hundred years old. Be careful when you dig it up,” Wild ginseng of this age was rare. Mo Haoyue was incredibly lucky.

After Mo Haoyue dug up the ginseng, Mi Xia pulled him into the space. “Let’s plant it here. You can take it with you when you leave, either as a gift or to keep.”

Mi Xia said, “I’m going to take a shower; I’m filthy.”

“Okay, go ahead, wife,” Mo Haoyue said while digging a hole.

The temperature in the space was always comfortable, regardless of the season.

After showering, they felt refreshed. Mi Xia took out a two-person serving of KFC. Although it was junk food, Mi Xia loved it.

Mo Haoyue, seeing this unfamiliar food, its aroma filling his nostrils, picked up a burger and took a bite.

“Mm, wife, this is delicious,” Mo Haoyue said after a bite.

So, even people in the 70s liked junk food. Mi Xia watched Mo Haoyue eat voraciously and couldn’t help but laugh.

She decided to bring some home for the children; an occasional treat wouldn’t hurt.

However, their current vegetables and meat were all organic, from the space, far superior to anything outside.

Mo Haoyue ate four burgers and three Cokes before stopping.

Seeing his wife staring at him and laughing, he suddenly wondered if he’d been arguing too much, causing her to look at him like that.

Mo Haoyue said, “Wife, stop laughing.”

Mi Xia ignored him, still laughing. Mo Haoyue leaned in and kissed her.

He mumbled, “See how you laugh, huh.”

Mi Xia was stunned by Mo Haoyue’s actions. The bed creaked throughout the night.

The next morning, Mi Xia woke up at 9 am. Mo Haoyue wasn’t in the room; otherwise, she would have glared at him.

She went out and saw him reading in his study.

Mo Haoyue said, “You’re awake.”

Mi Xia ignored him, going straight to shower. Mo Haoyue waited for her at the bathroom door.

As soon as she came out, he diligently handed her a towel. After she dried herself, he got her clothes. He was incredibly attentive.

Mi Xia, pleased with his service, said, “Have you eaten? If not, come and eat together.”

Mo Haoyue replied, “Not yet. I wanted to wait for you.”

Mi Xia got two bowls of pumpkin porridge with eggs, two meat buns, and two fried dough sticks.

The pumpkin porridge was thick and delicious, its aroma wafting from the open lid. Mi Xia could eat pumpkin porridge for breakfast ten times in a row in the space.
