Chapter 40: Supply Channels Secured
Tiger Brother had his men transport the goods, the method of delivery to Kyoto unknown. Mi Xia didn’t ask. She memorized the phone number on the slip of paper and then stored the paper in her spatial storage.
Initially, Mi Xia had planned to buy the goods and directly store them in her spatial storage to take away. But this was a long-term business, and she couldn’t miss school after the start of the semester.
So she simply had Tiger Brother deliver them, and future handovers would be handled by Zhang Xiaoyu.
Mi Xia: “Shall we go back, or wander around here a bit more?”
Mo Haoyue: “Let’s leave it for next time. We have a lot to do back home.”
Mi Xia agreed. She needed to instruct Zhang Xiaoyu on sales, prepare for school, and rent a courtyard house to store the goods Tiger Brother would send.
Considering the move to the villa, it was best to go home. She vowed to travel the world when she got older.
Mo Haoyue bought afternoon train tickets. At noon, Mi Xia took out some food from her spatial storage. After a short lunch, their daughter, Xia Xia, wanted a nap.
Little Xia Xia’s eyelids kept drooping. Perhaps she didn’t feel as comfortable sleeping sitting up, as her eyelids kept getting heavier.
This amused Mi Xia and Mo Haoyue, who wanted to laugh but feared waking Xia Xia. They could only suppress their laughter, their trembling shoulders betraying their effort.
Mi Xia found an unpopulated area and took them both into her spatial storage. She gently placed Xia Xia on the bed, and she fell asleep shortly after.
Mi Xia only took Xia Xia out when it was time to board the train. Xia Xia had been truly exhausted these past two days, unable to move around or play on the train.
The three of them boarded the train at the appointed time.
Back at the courtyard house in Kyoto, a voice greeted them: “You’re back! Xiaoyu has been worried about you.”
Mi Xia: “Yes, we’re back. We’re exhausted from the train journey. Let’s go to our room to rest.”
“Should I prepare a meal for you?”
“No need to trouble yourself. We’ve already eaten. You can go ahead and do your work,” Mi Xia smiled gently.
Back in their room, Mi Xia took out a bucket of spiritual spring water from her spatial storage and bathed Xia Xia in it.
She and Mo Haoyue quickly washed themselves, intending to use the spatial storage for a more thorough cleaning later when Xia Xia was asleep. Xia Xia’s health was excellent, rarely falling ill, all thanks to the spiritual spring water.
After washing, Mi Xia took out hamburgers, cola, Orleans-style chicken legs, two servings of preserved egg and lean meat porridge, a bowl of pumpkin porridge, and three small cakes. The family ate together.
Xia Xia was delighted, having bathed in the spiritual spring water and eaten her favorite foods.
After eating, Mi Xia brought a basin of water and cleaned up before they went to bed. Mi Xia took two days to recover.
Liu Zhaodi would come to call them for meals.
“Zhang Xiaoyu, spend the next two days looking for a house. It needs to be secluded, spacious, and suitable for storing things.”
Zhang Xiaoyu understood instantly. These were things that shouldn’t be easily discovered. He replied, “Okay, I understand.”
Mi Xia, seeing Zhang Xiaoyu’s reaction, knew he understood. It was always easier to work with intelligent people.
Mi Xia and Mo Haoyue spent the next two days as couch potatoes, eating and sleeping.
After meals, Mi Xia would bring out various fruits for Xia Xia to eat while she bathed in the spiritual spring water.
The next day, after receiving a telegram, Mi Xia asked Zhang Xiaoyu to lead the way to inspect a house he had found. It was indeed secluded and spacious, to Mi Xia’s satisfaction.
When Tiger Brother’s men arrived, they delivered the goods to this small courtyard.
Back at the courtyard house, several more people had arrived, some of whom she recognized. After exchanging greetings, Mi Xia said, “Zhang Xiaoyu, come with me for a moment.”
Mo Haoyue had returned to the room to look after Xia Xia, otherwise he would have accompanied Mi Xia, and Zhang Xiaoyu would have been even more afraid.
“I received a telegram this morning. The goods will arrive tomorrow. You go pick them up and take them to the newly rented courtyard. After the goods are sold, you’ll receive 10% of the profits after deducting the costs.”
Zhang Xiaoyu looked at Mi Xia in disbelief. He knew she wasn’t joking, but he still couldn’t believe it. “Really?”
“Yes, it’s true. I don’t care how you sell them, but you’ll get 10% of the profits after deducting the costs. You came all the way from G County to work with me. As long as you don’t violate any principles, I won’t treat you unfairly.”
Zhang Xiaoyu finally believed her, overjoyed. This was far more than he had ever earned in the black market. Following Mi Xia was definitely the right choice.
“The people in the courtyard are the people I trust most in G County. You can rest assured. I’ve arranged for them to stay in the courtyard.”
Zhang Xiaoyu understood that Mi Xia’s family would be moving to the villa, so they had arranged to stay in the courtyard.
“By the way, the villa has been cleaned, spotless. You can move in anytime.”
Mi Xia: “Okay, I understand. Only you and your wife can come to the villa. Arrange your men as you see fit. You don’t need to tell me. Let me know if the courtyard isn’t big enough.”
“We’ll move to the villa later. We don’t need any help. We can do it ourselves.”
“One more thing, once we start making money, buy that courtyard used as a warehouse. We can store the goods there directly.”
Mi Xia laid out everything at once, feeling parched. She couldn’t just conjure up a glass of water.
After the discussion, Mi Xia and Mo Haoyue packed their things. There wasn’t much, as they had only stayed for three or four days.
Arriving at the villa, Mi Xia immediately took three glasses of fruit tea from her spatial storage, handing them to Mo Haoyue and Xia Xia before drinking hers in large gulps.
She was exhausted, but now that they were alone, she could do as she pleased. She went to the kitchen and took out oil, salt, soy sauce, vinegar, tea, pots, and pans.
She had placed Simmons mattresses on the beds and put on new bedding. Mi Xia was especially happy because this house belonged only to their family.
She wondered how her older brother and his family were doing. They were still setting up stalls when she left. Once she had settled the black market business and school arrangements, she would bring them over.
Mi Xia set up a children’s room for Xia Xia, complete with building blocks, Lego, and various children’s books, similar to the villa in G County but with many new additions.
After everything was settled, she let Mo Haoyue play with Xia Xia while she prepared lunch.
She took out various ingredients from her spatial storage, steamed rice, and cooked braised pork ribs, bone and vegetable soup, braised pork, braised pig’s trotters, an eight-treasure duck, and a dozen meat buns from her spatial storage.
The dishes were all cooked with spiritual spring water. Xia Xia ate happily. “Mom and Dad, why isn’t Sister Xiaohuan here? I miss her.”
Mi Xia: “Wait a bit, okay? I’ll bring her over in a few days.”
Xia Xia nodded obediently. Mo Haoyue, seeing his daughter’s teary eyes, felt heartbroken.
“Xia Xia, shall Daddy tell you a story later? We can play with building blocks and the rocking horse.”
Xia Xia finally smiled. In her life, her father had rarely spent time with her. She hadn’t seen him often, let alone played with him.
