Chapter 49: Mo Haoyue Returns to the Village

After Mo Haoyue left, Wang Fen cried uncontrollably in Liu Baoguo’s arms, “Why doesn’t he believe me? Why did he leave?”

Liu Baoguo comforted Wang Fen, “Alright, he might not be able to accept it right now. Give him some time. He needs to go back and confirm.”

“Brother Bai, thank you. If he comes again, please take him directly to my house.”

Mo Haoyue’s mind was only on his wife. His wife was in class, so he went back to the small villa, prepared a meal, and waited for Mi Xia to return home.

“Dad, we’re back!” Zhang Xiaobao ate lunch and took a nap at the small villa every day, only returning to the courtyard in the evening.

Because Mo Haoyue was there, Liu Zhaodi couldn’t come over, so she picked up the two children and sent them to the small villa before returning to the courtyard herself.

To an outsider, they looked like a family of four. After dinner, Mo Haoyue patiently told stories to the two children, played games with them, and waited until they fell asleep before going to find Mi Xia.

In the space, Mi Xia was leisurely lying on the sofa.

Mo Haoyue said, “Wife, I have something to tell you. After I sent you to school today, I went to Bai Weidong’s house. Firstly, I wanted to thank them for saving Zhang Xiaoyu, and secondly, I wanted to ask how to open a shop.”

“Then, a couple said I was their son, and the boy I saw at your school that day is my younger brother.”

Mo Haoyue then recounted Wang Fen’s story. Even Mi Xia found it unbelievable. Such a dramatic story was only seen in TV dramas and novels.

“What do you plan to do? Accept them or not?”

Mo Haoyue looked at Mi Xia with hesitation.

Mi Xia said, “It’s okay. If you want to acknowledge them, then do so. You can support us, mother and daughter, on your own. Besides, when the time is right, I’ll make you the husband of a national tycoon.”

“So, it’s up to you. If you want to acknowledge them, you’ll have an extra pair of parents who love you. If you don’t want to, then we won’t. We don’t rely on them for anything.”

Mo Haoyue hugged Mi Xia tightly, “Wife, it’s good to have you.”

Mi Xia said proudly, “Of course, it’s your good fortune to have me.”

Mo Haoyue said, “I’ll go back to my hometown this afternoon to bring them over to meet. Don’t worry, I won’t bring them here. I’ll have them stay at a guesthouse after I bring them over.”

Mi Xia said, “Be careful. I’ll prepare some food for you to eat on the train.”

He knew that his wife had only been in school for a short time, and taking leave would be bad, but he was still disappointed that he had to be separated from his wife and daughter again.

Watching Mi Xia prepare food for him, his heart felt warm.

In the afternoon, after Mo Haoyue sent Mi Xia to school, he left and boarded the train back home.

A few days later, in Mojia Village, Mo Haoyue carried some food towards his home.

Villager A: “Haoyue is back!”

Mo Haoyue: “Yes, Uncle, I’m back to see my parents.”

Villager B: “Your parents are in the fields. I’ll go call them back for you.”

“Thank you, Auntie. You’re a lifesaver.”

Mo Haoyue gave her an apple, and the woman happily went to call his parents.

As soon as Mo Haoyue arrived in the courtyard, his nephews and nieces ran back.

Qiqi said, “Uncle Si (Fourth Uncle).”

Mo Haoyue pulled out a handful of candy from his pocket and gave it to them, “Share it.”

“Thank you, Uncle Si.” They ran off immediately.

These children loved Mo Haoyue because every time he came back, he would bring them delicious food. At home, they couldn’t even eat an extra bite of rice without their grandmother scolding them.

Mo Haoyue put his things on the table: two cans of malted milk powder, a pound of Da Bai Tu milk candy, two pounds of peach cakes, two pounds of white sugar, and two boxes of honey-glazed three-layered cakes.

When Xu Cuihua (Mo Haoyue’s mother) and Old Man Mo returned, they saw the things on the table and smiled so wide their wrinkles deepened.

“My son is back!” Xu Cuihua’s voice preceded her arrival.

Mo Haoyue: “Yes, I came back specifically to ask you something.”

Xu Cuihua’s body tensed. She had many sons, but only this one was successful. Feeling guilty, she forced herself to act nonchalant, “What’s so important that you had to come back specifically for it?”

“Mother, am I your biological son?”

“Yes, you are my own son, born from my womb after ten months of pregnancy. Which gossiping old woman is stirring things up between us?” Xu Cuihua was furious. Although he wasn’t her biological son, she had raised him since he was a baby.

“Mother!” Mo Haoyue looked angrily at Xu Cuihua, who immediately shut her mouth.

Although Xu Cuihua was usually bossy, if Mo Haoyue was truly angry, she wouldn’t dare say a word.

Mo Haoyue: “Father, you tell me.”

Old Man Mo: “How did you find out? You’re indeed not my biological son.”

“They’ve already contacted me. I’m not ungrateful. You raised me, and I will take care of you in your old age.”

Seeing Mo Haoyue’s resolve, Old Man Mo didn’t hide anything and told him everything.

Old Man Mo’s story matched Liu Baoguo’s. He truly was their son.

“Son, you won’t abandon your mother just because you’ve found your biological parents, will you?” Xu Cuihua hugged Mo Haoyue and cried.

She had raised this child since he was little; how could she not have feelings for him? And now that he was successful, even if he didn’t give her all his money, he still sent her a lot each month.

He was the pride of her life. Everyone envied her for having such a good son. If he really abandoned them, her other sons were nothing to boast about.

Even if they didn’t starve, they couldn’t live as comfortably as they did now. The money he sent could buy so many good things. Thinking about this, Xu Cuihua cried even harder.

Mo Haoyue’s head ached from her crying. Old Man Mo saw his son frowning, afraid he would get impatient.

He looked at Xu Cuihua with dark eyes, “Shut up! What are you yelling about? When did our son say he would abandon us?”

Xu Cuihua wasn’t intimidated by Old Man Mo, but instead asked happily, “Son, you won’t abandon your father and me, will you?”

Mo Haoyue nodded helplessly, “You and Father, come with me to Beijing. Let’s meet them.”

Xu Cuihua: “Okay, okay. As long as you won’t abandon us, whatever you say goes. I’ll pack my bags now.”

After Xu Cuihua left, Mo Haoyue looked at Old Man Mo, thinking, if only Xu Cuihua had been nicer to Mi Xia, Mi Xia, with her kind heart, would have brought them to Beijing to enjoy their family life.

He realized that if it weren’t for Xu Cuihua’s mistreatment of his original wife, Mi Xia wouldn’t be here. For a moment, he didn’t know how to treat Xu Cuihua.

Old Man Mo asked about his recent situation, and Xu Cuihua came in with large and small bags.

“Son, I’ve packed everything.” Xu Cuihua was excited to go to Beijing, the capital. She planned to stay there for a few months and tell everyone in the village when she returned, making them envious.
