Chapter 8
Before Lin Yeci could say anything, the announcement over the loudspeaker came on, “Due to a sudden fainting incident of a player, they have been taken to the hospital. The game has ended.”
Jiang Zhiyu paused for a moment, feeling her game experience was completely ruined by that annoying little guy. She muttered unwillingly, “Damn it, the little brother I was about to recruit just flew away like that, and I didn’t even get any contact info…”
All the lights turned on, shining clearly on Lin Yeci’s face, and one could see that he was also somewhat helpless.
“So, Fish, you dressed up pretty well this weekend, expanding your business of recruiting little brothers. Why don’t you study harder and bring some of that assertiveness to school?”
While fiddling with a white mask, Jiang Zhiyu frowned. “If I studied properly, you? You wouldn’t necessarily be able to beat me.” She then added angrily, “You’re also expanding your NPC business this weekend, yet you say that about me.”
Urged by the announcement, the two had no choice but to head to the lobby.
The fat and thin guys, along with Xu Leyun, had already disappeared. Only Zhang Qiangyi was anxiously waiting in the lobby.
“Fish, you’re finally out. Your little brother has run off.” With a sudden sigh, Zhang Qiangyi noticed Lin Yeci dressed entirely in black and exclaimed, “What the hell? Am I stunned? How is Lin Yeci with you? Is he working here as an NPC?”
Jiang Zhiyu also had the same question and looked at him with a confused face, waiting for an explanation.
Lin Yeci took off his black outfit, revealing his original white T-shirt, showing no intention of answering.
The store manager, who had just signed the death contract, walked out of the office. “Boss, the death contract for the guest who fainted has been printed.”
“Okay, if anyone causes trouble later, post this up. If not, just forget it.” Lin Yeci took the death contract and casually placed it on the table.
At that moment, Jiang Zhiyu and Zhang Qiangyi finally understood whether Lin Yeci was working part-time or not.
“Did your parents open this, or did you open it yourself?” Jiang Zhiyu leaned on the table, subtly trying to gather information, actually hoping to get a partial refund for the half-experienced escape room.
Lin Yeci’s tone gradually turned cold. “Myself.”
“Haha, then Boss Lin has a good business sense.” Jiang Zhiyu flattered him, “Look, I’m a student, and I don’t have much money. How about refunding half to us?”
“Heh…” Lin Yeci looked straight ahead and casually glanced at Jiang Zhiyu, pointing at the death contract placed aside.
Following his finger, Jiang Zhiyu saw Clause 16: Players who sign the death contract are considered to have started the game and cannot ask for a refund due to personal or group reasons.
Scam! This is a scam!
Jiang Zhiyu was furious and gritted her teeth, muttering, “You old fox.”
“Old fox? No one’s called me that before, you little fox.” Lin Yeci smiled. He wasn’t sure if it was because of the two years he hadn’t interacted with Jiang Zhiyu, but he felt that she wasn’t as dull as she had been in school. In fact, she seemed quite clever.
Unable to argue with Lin Yeci, Jiang Zhiyu shot him an aggrieved glare. “Qiangyi, let’s go! I’m not staying in this scam shop!”
“In such a hurry to leave? I can’t refund the money, but since we’re old classmates, I don’t want things to be awkward at school.”
Before Lin Yeci finished speaking, Jiang Zhiyu pulled out her WeChat payment code. “Ah, right, right, this is better. Hurry up, don’t waste time.”

“What I meant to say is, the money can’t be refunded, but I can buy you something to make it up to you.”
Jiang Zhiyu rubbed her eyes, a bit displeased. “Hmph, still not refunding the money.”
“If you’re not going, then forget it.”
“Going, who said I’m not going? Qiangyi and I will go and eat our money back.” Jiang Zhiyu fixed her hair, looking a bit helpless, then thought for a while and said, “Let’s eat barbecue, there’s a night market by the North River with some really good skewers.”
“Well, you know how to pick. I haven’t even decided what to treat you to.” Actually, if he had to choose what to treat them to, Lin Yeci had no idea.
Jiang Zhiyu had always wanted to eat barbecue in her previous life, but due to spending most of her time undergoing chemotherapy, she couldn’t even eat anything slightly salty or cold.
It was already nighttime when they exited the escape room, the city lights were dazzling, and the area was bustling with activity.
The three walked toward the North River night market, with the cool river breeze refreshing their senses.
“There’s ice cream over there!” Jiang Zhiyu’s eyes sparkled as she ran toward the mobile freezer. “Lin, you’re treating me to barbecue, so you won’t mind if I grab a few ice creams, right?”
Lin Yeci glanced at the freezer and waved his hand generously. “Pick whatever you want, buy whatever you want.”
He was secretly relieved that she didn’t ask him to buy anything more expensive.
She secretly rejoiced and “kindly” pulled out three ice cream bars from the freezer.
“Boss, that young man is paying.” After speaking, she tore one open and ate it happily, then turned to Lin Yeci and said, “You pay, I’ll go grab a seat.”
“How much?” Lin Yeci took out his phone, ready to scan the QR code.
The boss pulled out a talking calculator: zero, zero, thirty-seven plus thirty-seven plus thirty-seven equals one hundred eleven yuan.
“One hundred eleven yuan in total.” The boss shook the calculator and pointed at the QR code, signaling him to pay.
Hearing the price, Lin Yeci was shocked, his eyes wide open, his expression completely out of control. “How much!”
Without paying, he wasn’t afraid, but now he had encountered the ice cream assassin.
His heart was bleeding!!!
The little fox was really a little fox, so cunning!
Jiang Zhiyu happily waved to Lin Yeci and slowly sat down at a table.
Unknowingly, the view blocked by the barbecue cart showed He Shiduo eating at a nearby table.
Classmate No. 1 pointed at Jiang Zhiyu. “That person looks so familiar.”
He Shi Duo turned her head and nodded. “Hmm, she does look familiar, being with Zhang Qiangyi…”
“Wow! It’s Jiang Zhiyu!” Both of them almost shouted in unison.
What shocked them was that Jiang Zhiyu no longer had pimples on her face, and when she dressed up, she actually looked quite good. Although her figure was a bit worse than Ye Muwan’s, if she lost weight, she could definitely be one of the most beautiful girls in school, maybe even surpassing Ye Muwan!
After paying for the ice cream, Lin Yeci walked over and sat next to Jiang Zhiyu.
