Chapter 1 : Jiujiu I am in a book
Jiujiu, who had no parents, died.
She passed away at the age of thirteen.
She had won a lottery ticket worth five million and became rich overnight. However, on her way home after redeeming the lottery ticket, she was killed by someone who jumped from a building in a suicide attempt.
It was such an unjust death.
After her soul was taken to the Palace of Hell, Jiujiu started crying. She couldn’t understand what sin she had committed. It was already miserable enough that she had been helpless since childhood, but after all the hardship, she had finally won five million yet they didn’t even let her live a few days to enjoy it.
The entire Palace of Hell was thrown into chaos because of her wailing.
To calm the situation, the King of Hell granted her another life and even allowed her to be reborn as a princess.
Jiujiu originally thought that after being reborn as a princess, she would be like the ones in the novels she had read pampered by the emperor, enjoying endless wealth and luxury. But she quickly realized she had been overthinking.
Her mother was exiled to the Cold Palace for the unfounded crime of treason. She was born in the Cold Palace. When she came into this world, there were only her mother and a nanny helping with the delivery, her father was nowhere to be seen.
She had seventeen older brothers.
Although her father had longed for a daughter, her mother had no power or support. Fearing that her daughter might be killed, she disguised Jiujiu as a boy and announced to the world that she was the Eighteenth Prince.
Since she only had this one lifetime, she might as well live it carefreely!
That was her thought until she sneaked out of the Cold Palace at the age of two and a half to play. There, she met Princess Anyang and Concubine Jiang, and suddenly, everything became clear…she had reincarnate into a book and become cannon fodder.
“Who is that shorty? How come I’ve never seen him in the palace before? He looks like some lowly bastard born in the palace. How dare he not bow to me? Isn’t he afraid I’ll have him killed?”
Five-year-old Princess Anyang, Feng Caiwei, was climbing a rockery when she spotted Jiujiu, who looked like a tomboy. She stopped climbing, pointed at Jiujiu, and started scolding her.
Beside her, Concubine Jiang sneered, “Nowadays, all kinds of unruly people can roam around the palace freely. Aren’t they afraid of bumping into someone important and bringing bad luck?”
Jiujiu heard these familiar words.
It was like being struck by lightning.
She had reincarnated into an ancient novel she had read before ‘A Thousand Years of Queen.’ The heroine was none other than the child standing a few steps away, Feng Caiwei.
Because her father, the emperor, had no daughter of his own, he raised Feng Caiwei, a royal relative’s child, in the palace as his own. He spoiled her and even betrothed her to the prince, who loved her deeply.
Ten years later, the Western Chu Kingdom was destroyed, and Feng Caiwei moved on to the Southern Kingdom. Rising step by step from a palace maid to a queen, she eventually unified the world alongside the Emperor of the Southern Kingdom.
Everyone who met Feng Caiwei adored and cherished her.
She was the ultimate heroine with unparalleled luck and charm!
And Jiujiu? She was merely a cannon fodder princess. Not only was her identity as a princess in question, but she was also doomed to be beaten to death by her own father today.
Seeing Jiujiu lost in thought, Feng Caiwei scowled and demanded, “Shorty, I’m talking to you! What’s your name? Which palace are you from? Why don’t you greet me when you see me?”
Jiujiu was still too stunned by her fate to hear what Feng Caiwei was saying.
“You dare ignore me? Do you believe I won’t have you killed?”
Feng Caiwei, thinking Jiujiu was disregarding her, was instantly displeased. She stormed over with her hands on her hips.
When she saw Jiujiu’s adorable little face, she instinctively touched her own chubby and ordinary one. The sight made her even angrier, she wanted to scratch Jiujiu’s face.
In this palace, she was supposed to be the most beautiful and most favored child not this brat.
Jiujiu saw Feng Caiwei suddenly reaching out her claws. Stomping her foot, she shouted fiercely, “What do you want to do? Get lost!”
After she finished speaking, Feng Caiwei suddenly burst into tears, yelling something.
Jiujiu wondered if she had been too fierce and scared the girl into tears. But then, she saw Feng Caiwei run past her and throw herself into the arms of a man in a bright yellow robe not far away, hugging his legs tightly.
That man must be her adoptive father, Emperor Zhaoning.
He appeared to be in his thirties, with a cold and intimidating expression. But the moment he saw Feng Caiwei, his face softened into a smile. He leaned over and picked her up.
After all, he had eighteen sons and not a single daughter.
For the past three generations of the royal family, including all the clan members, there had only been one girl, Feng Caiwei.
If he didn’t spoil Feng Caiwei, who else would he spoil?
“My dear Weiwei, why are you crying?” Emperor Zhaoning asked, his voice filled with concern as he wiped away her tears.
Feng Caiwei pointed at Jiujiu, who stood not far away, and sobbed, “Uncle Huang, that boy not only stole my things but also scratched my face. Can you help Weiwei?”
If anyone dared to ignore her, she would make them pay the price.
Jiujiu: “….”
What a blatant lie!
Jiujiu was speechless.
“What?” Emperor Zhaoning’s expression darkened with fury. He turned to Fu An, the head eunuch, and commanded, “Go, bring that brat to me. If he dares to bully Weiwei, I’ll have him killed.”
Immediately, Jiujiu was roughly dragged over by several eunuchs and forced to kneel before Emperor Zhaoning.
The emperor protectively placed Feng Caiwei behind him, then crouched down and grabbed Jiujiu’s chin with his rough fingers. His grip was so tight that Jiujiu felt as if her jawbone was about to be crushed.
[Ahhh! This tyrant wants to kill me for no reason? He is my father, my own father!]
[Isn’t there a saying that even a tiger wouldn’t eat its own cubs?]
Hearing the strange mumbling voice, Emperor Zhaoning’s gaze flickered with suspicion. He looked around at the people nearby, then back at Jiujiu.
No one else had spoken.
The only one in front of him was this little brat.
But the child’s lips hadn’t moved at all. Could it be… was he hearing the brat’s thoughts?
And yet, no one else seemed to hear them.
Emperor Zhaoning withdrew his hand and stared at Jiujiu in disbelief. Then, he whispered to Fu An, instructing him to investigate who this little boy was. How could he claim that Zhaoning was his father? Since when had he fathered such a child? Why had he never heard of him before?
Fu An quickly returned with his findings. He whispered, “Your Majesty, this boy was born to Concubine Li in the Cold Palace. He is the Eighteenth Prince.”
“Oh!”
So that’s who he was.
Emperor Zhaoning sneered and ordered coldly, “Take this brat away and beat him to death.”
He had plenty of sons.
This so-called Eighteenth Prince was the child of the woman he hated most. That woman had been a traitor to the empire, and this boy carried her blood. He had no interest in whether the child lived or died.
And anyone who dared to offend the girl he cherished most, deserved to die.
Jiujiu didn’t even have the chance to explain before the guards seized her and dragged her away.
[Tyrant! If he really wants to kill me, what’s so great about Feng Caiwei anyway? A little liar who constantly makes up stories, completely dishonest!]
[When did I ever steal her things? She was surrounded by so many people, how could I have even gotten close to her? I didn’t steal a thing! On the contrary, she saw that I was pretty and wanted to scratch my face.]
[She spewed nonsense, shed a few crocodile tears, and played the victim. And yet, someone actually believed her. And that person was none other than the Emperor himself. How ridiculous!]
[No wonder the Western Chu Kingdom perished ten years later. With such an irrational and tyrannical ruler, it was a miracle he even lasted that long.]
