Chapter 91: The Rescue Arrived

Then another 2 days slipped by, during which Ella clung to Ashura like a koala, no different from a girl in the throes of first love.

It was also Ella’s first romance, and she had no idea how to express her feelings; she only knew that spending every day stuck to Ashura made her feel incomparably safe and happy.

She did not know whether this was what people called love, but she knew she could no longer live without the boy in front of her who was 6 years younger than she was.

Powerful Warriors and Mages could live for more than 200 years and could even slow their aging.

Even so, Ella still felt insecure about her age.

Perhaps women in love always liked to wallow in self-pity, for in those 2 days Ella kept pestering Ashura, asking whether he minded that she was older.

She asked whose figure was better, hers or Daifei’s; whose personality was sweeter, hers or Clara’s; whose legs were longer, hers or Lan Yu’s; whose chest was bigger, hers or Magina’s, and so on.

Ashura felt black lines crawl across his forehead, but every question boiled down to one thing: from now on he must never dislike her or leave her.

What surprised Ashura was that, when it came to whether they would make their relationship public after returning to the academy, Ashura wanted to keep it quiet so he could continue his low-key training.

Ella, however, very much wanted to announce it; the academy had no rules against teacher-student romances, and on the continent it was normal for powerful men to be surrounded by many women, for people only worshiped the strong.

Ella had also had enough of the pursuit from young male Instructors and upper-class students, especially Instructor Anthony, who had once vowed he would die for her.

Yet when the Red-Lotus Serpent King lunged, the only one who stepped in front of her was the boy she was now hugging, which gave her an unparalleled sense of security.

Ashura felt a headache coming on, and after coaxing her for a long time he persuaded Ella with both emotion and reason, saying that he was not yet strong enough to stand beside her as an equal at the academy.

He asked her to give him a few more years so that, once he had grown, he could organize a public confession and all the rest, talking with his mouth and hands until the gasping Ella finally relented.

During these days the two of them were inseparable; with no one around to disturb them, they did everything except cross the final line.

Ella even volunteered that once they returned and her injury healed, she would invite him to her Instructor’s dormitory, the implication obvious.

At this moment Ella was completely attached to her young boyfriend, especially since that dawn when he had restrained himself out of concern for her leg, which sent her affection for him soaring.

They talked about many things over the past few days and came to understand each other even better.

Ashura even told Ella the secret that he was a dual mage-warrior, and her eyes sparkled with little stars; she had not expected to pick up such a treasure, nor seen that her young boyfriend’s potential was so great, even rivaling the academy’s star students.

Of course, the stronger Ashura became, the more likely their future could be realized, for her stubborn grandfather, Aiwei the Grand Archmage, was not easy to deal with.

On the morning of the 3rd day, however, Ashura suggested they leave and look for a way out; Ella’s leg was almost healed, yet she threw a tantrum and found every excuse not to leave the cave that belonged to the two of them.

Ashura tried every argument, knowing that the academy would certainly send a search party because Ella had a Grand Archmage for a grandfather and the school would never ignore them, and the messenger who returned to report should already have arrived.

Ella still pouted unhappily until Ashura hoisted her onto his back; she gave his shoulder a few token pats, then pressed her face against his back and let him carry her up out of the cave.

Outside, the area was still shrouded in mist; visibility was less than 5 m, the sky and ground were nowhere to be seen, and Beast roars echoed from time to time.

Ashura patted Ella’s bottom to tell her to hold tight, then climbed upward on hands and feet; the cliff was not too steep, and with his skill he ascended quickly even while carrying her.

Ella continued to whisper her worries to Ashura, afraid that once they got back he would ignore her.

Ashura replied that he had not taken enough advantage of her yet, so how could he possibly ignore her.

The beauty on his back blushed and bit him again, and the two bickered their way up the cliff for quite a while.

Suddenly a clear cry rang out above them; Ella, on his back, first whistled in delight, then seemed to remember something and slumped listlessly onto Ashura’s shoulder.

Ashura turned his head and asked what was wrong; Ella, unhappy, said, “My grandpa is here… this is his mount, the Tier-7 Beast Flame-Phoenix!”

As soon as he heard that, Ashura wanted to set her down so her grandfather would not misunderstand, and Ella answered by biting his shoulder hard.

Before long, hot gusts of wind swept the area, and a fiery red Tier-7 flying Beast swooped down and circled Ella, its body language showing clear joy.

After biting Ashura, Ella snorted softly, pushed off his back, and leapt backward; the flying Beast, almost humanly understanding, glided in and caught her steadily.

Ella stroked the phoenix’s neck affectionately and said, “Good work, Little Lie; has Grandpa arrived?”

The phoenix called Little Lie let out several loud cries, and an overwhelming aura approached at speed; Ashura narrowed his eyes as an old man with a long beard, clad in a crimson magic robe, flew through the air and landed on the phoenix’s back.

Ella threw herself into the elder’s arms and cried, “Grandpa, I missed you so much… I thought I would never see you again!”

The bearded elder clearly exhaled in relief, patted his granddaughter’s head, and said, “As long as you’re safe. You scared your grandpa to death! Tell me which beast bullied my granddaughter and I’ll skin it alive to avenge you!”

The Grand Archmage’s pressure instantly spread in every direction, but after Aiwei the Grand Archmage spoke, Ella glanced at Ashura on the cliff as if to say that Ashura had bullied her.

Ashura was so startled that he glared at her, telling her not to fool around.

Ella stuck out her tongue at him and said to her grandfather Aiwei, “It’s fine, Grandpa; that beast fell to the bottom of the valley. Don’t bother looking for it… let’s go back quickly so no one else worries.”

Aiwei the Grand Archmage nodded, then turned to look at Ashura, who was still clinging to the cliff; the elder’s formidable spiritual sense had already picked up the small gestures between his granddaughter and this male student.

He began to size up the boy who looked like anything but a mage.
