Chapter 9: Ancestor, I Beg You!
This dynasty lacked sterile techniques, but luckily, Gu Yunlan’s medical space was large enough to contain a sterile operating room. She quickly cleaned the wound on Mu Chenye’s head and swiftly retrieved surgical instruments from her medical space.
The human brain is the most delicate and complex organ, making surgery extremely difficult. Adding to the challenge, Mu Chenye had suffered head compression at birth, leading to blood clots that caused his foolishness. This surgery was even more difficult.
Even Gu Yunlan had to be careful.
Bang, bang, bang!
The door outside was being pounded relentlessly.
Gu Yunlan was in a hurry, grabbing a vase and smashing it at the door: “If you keep making noise, I’ll have you all buried with my husband!”
Perhaps her voice was too cold, and the people outside fell silent. Gu Yunlan continued the surgery, making the most of every second.
The fox outside was frantic, jumping up and down: “Who would have thought that the young master would have such a big accident while returning home with the madam! If the young master really doesn’t make it, we’ll all be buried with him! No, we have to invite Doctor Dugu!”
The silver wolf looked calm: “Go ahead. I’ll stay here and watch over the madam. I trust her.”
“Doctor Dugu is the master of the Divine Physician Valley!” The fox looked at the silver wolf like he was crazy: “Even though the madam is a bit strange, you don’t trust him, but you trust the madam?”
The silver wolf’s eyes showed anxiety, but his tone remained calm: “Even if you go to invite him now, it will take at least an hour to go and come back. Looking at the young master’s condition, if the madam can’t save him in time, even if Doctor Dugu arrives, the young master might not be saved. It’s better if we split up. You go invite him, and I’ll stay here and watch the Gu family, making sure they don’t cause trouble for the madam.”
The fox scratched his head in frustration: “Fine, fine. I’m not as smart as you. I’ll trust you this once, even if it means risking my head.”
…
“What? Ye’er has a big hole in his head?” Mu Kangsheng felt like the sky was falling: “Take me there quickly!”
He mounted his horse in a huff and galloped towards the Gu residence.
Mu Chenye was his most beloved son. He would never let Mu Chenye die!
“Gu Xiude, you old scoundrel, open the door!” Although Mu Kangsheng was well-versed in literature, he was a martial arts champion who entered the court. Although he was now the Minister of Justice, a civil servant, his roar was still as powerful as it was in his younger days.
The gatekeeper saw that the situation was not good and hurried to open the door, but Mu Kangsheng found his movements too slow and kicked the door of the Gu residence open with a single kick, directly charging in.
“Gu Xiude, return my son!” Mu Kangsheng saw the old scoundrel, Gu Xiude, and rushed forward, grabbing Gu Xiude’s collar and choking him until his eyes rolled back.
“He, he’s inside.” Gu Xiude coughed a few times, forced a wry smile: “Minister Mu, please calm down. It was my son who was playing around and didn’t know his strength. Once the young master is saved, I’ll let you deal with this useless beast!”
Gu Xiude waved his hand, and a servant brought forward Gu Ziming, who was tied up.
Gu Ziming had been kicked in the ribs by Gu Yunlan and was now tied up. He was in so much pain that he kept cursing, but Gu Xiude had ordered his mouth to be shut. He had been struggling until he was exhausted, and now he was half-dead.
The guests had already been dismissed, and Wu and Gu Jiaojiao had been sent back to the backyard by him, to avoid being implicated by Gu Yunlan, this plague.
Mu Kangsheng’s anger didn’t subside: “Where’s my son? Which doctor is treating him? I’m telling you, Gu Xiude, I asked the emperor for a token to invite Doctor Dugu, the master of the Divine Physician Valley. If anything happens to my son, I will definitely file a complaint against you! I will make you pay for my son’s life!”
Gu Xiude thought to himself, what right does your crippled and foolish son have to make me, a top scholar, pay for his life? But since he was clearly in the wrong, he could only apologize with a smile, but he never mentioned the doctor.
“I’m asking you, are you deaf? Who is treating my son?” Mu Kangsheng wished he could stuff Gu Xiude’s mouth full of nonsense.
“It’s, it’s…” Gu Xiude dared not say.
“Damn it, speak up!” Mu Kangsheng was about to explode.
“It’s Gu Yunlan who’s treating him!” Gu Xiude was forced to admit defeat: “She took the young master into the room and locked the door. I’ve invited so many doctors, but they can’t get in!”
As soon as he finished speaking, the locked door opened.
Gu Yunlan’s hands were covered in blood, and her face and clothes were splattered with blood.
“Father.” Gu Yunlan nodded tiredly at Mu Kangsheng.
Mu Kangsheng saw her like that, and he almost fainted. Gu Yunlan quickly took out a silver needle and gave him two pricks. Mu Kangsheng finally caught his breath and asked with a trembling voice: “Good daughter-in-law, Ye’er, Ye’er…”
“He…” Gu Yunlan hadn’t finished speaking when Gu Xiude slapped her: “You rebellious daughter! You’ve never learned medicine in your life. Why are you putting on airs now? The young master is gone, you’re going to be buried with him!”
Gu Yunlan forcefully grabbed Gu Xiude’s wrist and threw it away: “When did I say he was gone? He’s out of danger.”
“He’s fine? I’ll go see him!” Mu Kangsheng was eager to see his son and immediately turned to go into the room, but Gu Yunlan stopped him: “Father, although he’s past the critical stage, he shouldn’t be visited, and he shouldn’t be moved. After twelve hours, if there are no adverse reactions, you can visit him.”
“I knew you were talking nonsense!” Gu Xiude cursed: “You’ll say that something happened within twelve hours, and he’s gone, right?”
Gu Yunlan frowned: “Do you think everyone is as good at lying as you, as easy as going to the market to buy vegetables?”
She looked sincerely at Mu Kangsheng: “Father, trust me. After twelve hours, my husband will be fine. I’ll let you see him then.”
“But…” Mu Kangsheng was hesitant, but he heard an old voice from outside: “I’ve been treating the young master’s illness all along. He’s injured his head, and even I can’t guarantee his safety. You’re a young girl, but you’re quite arrogant!”
“You’re here!” Mu Kangsheng looked respectful.
Dugu Yue nodded, his eyes arrogant as he looked at Gu Yunlan: “You little girl, hurry up and take me to see the young master! If the young master dies, you won’t live either!”
Gu Yunlan looked at Dugu Yue and frowned slightly: “I said no, and that’s that! I would never joke about my husband’s life!”
“You little girl!” Dugu Yue was so angry that he jumped up and down, his tone arrogant: “My medical skills are second to none in the entire continent. No one dares to claim to be better than me. You’re even arrogant to me! Get out of the way!”
He pushed Gu Yunlan aside, trying to rush past.
If it weren’t for the huge favor he owed someone, he wouldn’t have taken on this hot potato, the young master!
If the young master died, that favor would never be repaid!
Thinking about this, Dugu Yue became even more irritable.
Gu Yunlan reached out to stop him, and Mu Kangsheng was a little anxious: “Daughter-in-law, if Ye’er really has something wrong, Father won’t blame you. Quickly let Doctor Dugu take a look! He’s the current master of the Divine Physician Valley, his medical skills are extraordinary!”
Dugu?
This surname, why does it sound so familiar?
Looking at the old man’s impatient expression, Gu Yunlan’s mind flashed.
Wait!
This person…
“May I ask your name, sir? Is it Dugu Yue?” Gu Yunlan asked cautiously.
“Yes! I am Dugu Yue, the master of the Divine Physician Valley! I never change my name or my character!” The old man proudly announced his name.
Gu Yunlan immediately knelt down: “Gu Yunlan, descendant of the Divine Physician Valley, pays respects to my ancestor!”
