Chapter 32: The Little Prince Wants to Join a Variety Show?
At the Jun family Residence.
As usual, Jun Jiu was carrying a large stack of documents when the old butler mysteriously stopped him at the entrance of the main building.
“Butler Mu, is something the matter?”
Butler Mu, sixty years old with hair not fully gray, looked quite spirited. He leaned closer to Jun Jiu, smiling, “The young master says to see him after you finish your report.”
Why is this old fox smiling so eagerly?
Jun Jiu felt a chill down his spine: “If the young master wants to see me, why the smile? This can’t be good!”
Butler Mu explained kindly: “The young master doesn’t want the family head to know about this.”
“Huh?” Jun Jiu was stunned.
Young Master Yan usually reported everything to the family head. But since returning from C City, he suddenly seemed absent minded.
This change wasn’t necessarily bad. It’s normal for children to have more thoughts as they grow up! The worry is if the child becomes rebellious. If Young Master Yan had any wild ideas that might anger the family head, it would be the subordinates like him who would suffer.
Butler Mu patted his shoulder, his expression serious as if handing over a major task: “In any case, don’t tell the family head.”
Damn! This expression clearly spelled trouble!
Jun Jiu swallowed and asked weakly, “Can I not go?”
Butler Mu’s eyes seemed to reflect everything in the world, bright and sharp. He gently asked back: “What do you think?”
His tone was kind, without any threat! Jun Jiu immediately deflated: “Alright, I understand.”
Butler Mu nodded satisfactorily and strolled away leisurely.
While reporting in the study, Jun Jiu was preoccupied with that matter, feeling tense throughout.
Jun Li scanned the data charts on the screen, his slightly raised chin revealing a distinct profile.
His gaze was icy, betraying no emotion. Yet his eyes occasionally rested on Jun Jiu.
A moment later, he tapped the desk, signaling Jun Jiu to stop reporting.
Jun Jiu was on high alert, every hair standing on end: “Master, is there an issue with any of the data?”
Jun Li glanced at him, sat back on the sofa, and spoke calmly: “What’s wrong with you tonight?”
Jun Jiu’s hand trembled: “N- nothing.”
“Is that so?” Jun Li’s question carried an undeniable certainty.
Jun Jiu immediately put on a miserable face: “Master, please don’t ask…”
This reaction? Jun Li leaned back comfortably, the coldness in his brow gradually dissipating, showing a hint of warmth: “Is it about Xiao Yan?”
How could Jun Jiu hide anything from the family head? He was practically on his knees: “Young Master Yan said you absolutely mustn’t know…”
“Heh.” Jun Li rarely smiled, “The child has grown up, he has his own thoughts now.”
His usually sharp eyes showed signs of softening.
“Well, it’s good that he has his own ideas. He can’t listen to my opinions forever. As long as he doesn’t go too far, let him be,” Jun Li spoke calmly, “I’ll pretend I don’t know about this. You may go.”
With the family head’s approval, Jun Jiu finally relaxed: “Alright! I’ll go right away!”
Only after Jun Jiu left the room did Jun Li gently withdraw his gaze. A doting smile played on his upturned lips.
Jun Jiu knocked on the door: “Young Master Yan, you wanted to see me?”
Jun Yan turned from the floor-to-ceiling window. His delicate face was like a miniature version of the family head; his clear, aloof gaze even surpassed his father’s.
This cold demeanor on an adult might feel oppressive, but on a five-year-old, it felt strangely chilling.
Jun Jiu shivered every time he saw the young master’s expressionless face.
Jun Yan, wearing a custom-tailored suit, stood straight-backed. His first words nearly made Jun Jiu kneel: “Did my father find out?”
Jun Jiu broke into a cold sweat: “Young Master Yan…”
How can you be so frighteningly perceptive?
Jun Yan raised his hand, revealing a diamond-studded starlight watch on his wrist.
“Five minutes early.”
Jun Jiu exclaimed: “What do you mean?”
Jun Yan wore an expression of communicating with mere mortals: “When you report to my father, even if there’s nothing wrong, you usually stay in the study for fifteen minutes. Today, you came out five minutes early, which means your expression gave you away, and my father noticed.”
A direct hit!
Jun Jiu was on the verge of tears: “Young Master Yan, don’t be so harsh! You and Butler Mu were being so mysterious, I’m really not cut out for acting QAQ…”
“Oh.” Jun Yan replied indifferently, “I never intended for you to keep it secret anyway.”
Jun Jiu finally realized: “So you wanted me to give it away in front of Master? But Young Master Yan, if you have any ideas, can’t you just communicate directly with him?”
There’s no need to involve us subordinates in this game…
Jun Yan didn’t answer his question, the corner of his lips curling in an ambiguous smile: “What did my father say?”
Jun Jiu relayed with a miserable face: “Master said as long as you don’t go too far, you can do as you please.”
“Good, I want to join a TV show. You arrange it for me,” Jun Yan coldly commanded.
Huh? Jun Jiu didn’t understand: “You went through all this trouble just to join a TV show?”
“What do you know?” Jun Yan said matter-of-factly, “I’m going to handle important business.”
Knowing he shouldn’t ask, Jun Jiu still couldn’t help but probe: “What important business?”
Anything that Young Master Yan considered important must be extraordinary.
However, the little ice berg’s mouth was tight. Unless he wanted to speak, no one could extract words from Young Master Yan.
Jun Jiu never expected him to answer. But as soon as he finished speaking, Jun Yan’s eyes suddenly brightened.
He replied seriously: “Selecting a mistress of the house, isn’t that important business?”
What the hell?!
Jun Jiu’s mouth gaped like it was stuffed with an egg, too shocked to close! After a good while, he finally found his voice.
“You… you… you… Young Master Yan wants to find a wife for Master?”
Jun Yan nodded.
Jun Jiu was even more shocked: “But Master rejected your idea last time! You wanted to choose a mother—”
Jun Yan calmly interrupted, his delicate brow arching: “I didn’t say it was for the current family head.”
Jun Jiu: ??????
Jun Yan turned around, leaving a cold back to Jun Jiu: “If you understand, go and arrange it. Apart from the name Jun Yan, I don’t want anyone in the show to know about my relationship with the Jun family.”
Jun Jiu: …
The Jun family had just transferred two hundred million, and now someone surnamed Jun was coming to the show… Isn’t that easy to guess?
But he could only comply: “Alright, I’ll go arrange it right away.”
Walking out of the residence, Jun Jiu sighed dejectedly. This father and son were really something else!
Butler Mu seemed to have been waiting for him and immediately asked: “Xiao Jiu, you’ve seen the young master?”
Jun Jiu was about to cry: “Butler Mu, in the future, please don’t set me up like this, okay?”
Butler Mu smiled benevolently: “Is it too much to ask you to help Young Master Yan?”
“This matter—”
Butler Mu clearly knew what he was about to say and gently patted Jun Jiu’s shoulder.
“Do it well. Who knows, when this is over, our family might really have a mistress!”
Jun Jiu’s face fell into a frown.
