The Villain Who Dotes on His Daughter [1980s]
The Villain Who Dotes on His Daughter [1980s] Chapter 18.1

Public Revelation Part 1 [Edited]

“Foolish, truly foolish!” Old Madam Meng said, “Others are bullying your son and your brother like this, and you’re still thinking of continuing to make a mistake?”

“I dare not, no!” Ji Zeyan quickly said. “Mother, please don’t make such indiscriminate attacks. I never intended to continue making mistakes.”

Although the third brother is already in his thirties, he is still a family member who should be brought back.

“Really not.” When Ji Zeyan’s second brother saw Old Madam Meng looking at him, he hurriedly said.

“Don’t cry either.” Old Madam Meng said. “State everything you have found out. There must be a reason why you are certain that child is your biological son. You can’t just say the child is your own simply because others treated him badly.”

“He looks very much like my deceased brother…” Old Madam Ji said.

When Old Madam Ji gave birth to her youngest son, she was almost thirty, and her brother died during the Anti-Japanese War. Her brother, in order to save her, disguised himself as a woman and followed the enemy, ultimately dying at their hands.

Her brother was still very young at the time, in his early twenties, and had not even gotten married yet, and he died just like that.

Old Madam Ji always felt heartbroken thinking about it. Now, seeing Lin Chengshan, who looks so much like her brother, she couldn’t just pretend not to know.

Thus, Old Madam Ji revealed everything in detail, also mentioning that Dong Weixin’s new wife was Lin Chengshan’s ex-wife.

“Let them marry as they please.” Old Madam Meng said. “Don’t say it’s our family’s fault. They forced the divorce. Now that they’re divorced, they’ve made room for themselves.”

Old Madam Meng’s meaning was simple. They shouldn’t hesitate. If it’s late today, then tomorrow, they should go and bring the person back. If they keep procrastinating, the opportunity will be gone.

“Don’t you want a granddaughter? Isn’t there one who’s biologically related?” Old Madam Meng sighed.

“They really are unfortunate.”

“…” Old Master Ji closed his mouth. How could he say that father and daughter aren’t unfortunate?

Yes, Old Master Ji liked the granddaughter of his youngest son, but wait, he isn’t his youngest son anymore. Old Master Ji is a man who values blood relationships more than women. They’ve done their utmost for that fake youngest son, arranging work, marriage, and even buying a house for him…

“The third brother’s wife and her family as well,” Eldest Madam Ji said. “After all, this is a marriage alliance.”

The family of the third brother’s wife isn’t weak. They also work in related departments, making it a good match for the Ji family.

Now that the third brother isn’t a biological member of the family, how will they be viewed by others?

Eldest Madam Ji wasn’t trying to pour cold water on everyone but rather stating the harsh reality. The Ji family’s failure to recognize the right person and discover the truth led to this situation. Even though the Lin family is the most at fault in this matter, will the third brother’s wife’s family blame everything on the Lin family?

“Do you really want to maintain this marriage alliance?” Old Madam Meng glanced at her daughter-in-law sideways. “Can’t you just work hard on your own?”

Eldest Madam Ji kept quiet. Old Madam Meng’s temper was always not very good. Especially after such a big incident, what Eldest Madam Ji said wasn’t wrong, but that didn’t mean Old Madam Meng wouldn’t give a sharp remark. She wanted to make it clear to others that regardless of the marriage ties, their own son had suffered immense harm, and yet they were still expected to forsake their family for the sake of a marriage alliance. What’s the difference from animals?

Old Madam Ji said nothing. She suspected that Eldest Madam Ji was deliberately saying those words to make Old Lady Meng lash out more and criticize them.

“If you don’t acknowledge him, I will.” Old Madam Meng said. “Let the child call me ‘Mother’.”

“No, we don’t mean to deny him.” Old Madam Ji hurriedly said.

“Then why are you still sitting here? Shouldn’t you be getting ready?” Old Madam  Meng said. “What? Do you need me to teach you how to do it? Are you going to let the Lin family stay in your house? Find them jobs?”

Old Madam Meng couldn’t help but think that if that fake son hadn’t consumed so much goodwill over the years, the Ji family might have thought he was decent, believing they didn’t lack that little money and wanted him to continue as the Ji family’s son.

Lin Chengshan didn’t know about the turmoil in the Ji family. After dinner, he took his daughter out shopping. His daughter’s clothes were all tattered and patched up, and he couldn’t let her keep wearing those clothes.

When his daughter went to kindergarten and saw others wearing nice clothes, how would others view his daughter? She might become very self-conscious, and others might bully her.

“Clothes should be bigger.” Lin Qingqing followed her father in the store. She knew her father wanted to buy her new clothes and was very happy.

When Lin Qingqing tried on the new clothes, she felt they were too small and adjusted them. She had heard that clothes should be bought a bit bigger so they last longer.

“Growing body, needs to be bigger.” Lin Qingqing said. “Can still wear it next year.”

Generally, adults prefer to buy clothes a little bigger so that children can continue wearing them the next year.

“No need to buy too big.” Lin Chengshan said with a smile. “You’re my only biological daughter. You don’t need to worry about not having new clothes next year.”

At that moment, Xiao Man and her mother happened to be shopping and ran into Lin Chengshan and his daughter in a children’s clothing store.

Xiao Man and Dong Weixin had received their marriage certificate, but they had not yet held their wedding banquet or officially moved in together. The Dong family hoped that Xiao Man would spend this time getting to know the child, helping the child adjust to her, as she was becoming a stepmother and needed to make the child comfortable.

When Lin Qingqing saw Xiao Man, she quickly hid behind Lin Chengshan, saying, “Mommy… Aunt.”

Lin Qingqing wanted to call her “Mommy,” but she remembered her father’s words that her mother was now going to be a mother to another child and was no longer her mother. Therefore, she could only call her “Aunt.” Her mother’s mother was not her grandmother, so she couldn’t call her “Grandma.”

Mother Xiao glanced at Lin Qingqing and thought the child was perceptive enough to know how to address her. Although Mother Xiao disliked Lin Qingqing, she had to admit that Lin Qingqing’s little face was quite cute. However, Lin Qingqing was just an obstacle preventing her daughter from pursuing happiness.

“Right, from now on, call her like that,” Mother Xiao said.

Xiao Man didn’t argue with her mother’s words, not wanting others to know she had a daughter. Even if others knew she once had a daughter, she didn’t want them to know that the child was in Rongcheng City.

“Try this set of clothes,” Lin Chengshan said, asking for another set of clothes to be brought over.

Lin Chengshan didn’t look much at Xiao Man. They were divorced and no longer a couple. If they were to get too close, it might lead to misunderstandings. Lin Chengshan didn’t want Xiao Man’s family to think he was clinging to Xiao Man. If Xiao Man wanted to marry someone, she should marry whoever she wished.

“These clothes are still lacking. Let’s go look elsewhere,” Mother Xiao said. “When buying clothes for your son or daughter, you can’t settle for cheap stuff.”

“Alright,” Xiao Man nodded.

Cheap stuff?

Lin Chengshan found it amusing. If they thought the clothes here were cheap, they shouldn’t have come into the store in the first place. If they hadn’t entered the store, they wouldn’t have seen each other and wouldn’t have said such things.

“I need to buy you a few more sets of clothes,” Lin Chengshan said to his daughter. “You should wear better clothes when you go to school.”

Children are prone to dirty their clothes easily, and Lin Chengshan couldn’t let his daughter keep wearing dirty clothes.

    Hi~
In the middle there’s a parr where Old Madam Ji should be someone else not sure who but by context it’s unlikely that old madam ji is watching old madam ji talk.

      Hi Chie~

Thanks for catching that! After checking, I totally see what you mean—it was a bit confusing, and I mixed things up. It should actually be Eldest Madam Ji, who is Old Lady Meng’s daughter-in-law, instead of Old Madam Ji. So that part should go like this: “Old Madam Ji said nothing. She suspected that Eldest Madam Ji was deliberately saying those things to get Old Lady Meng to lash out and criticize them more.”

I’ve already fixed it, so you can read it again now to clear up any confusion. Thanks so much for pointing it out!
