Ji Chengshan
Ji Chengshan, a member of the Ji family, never relied on his two older brothers for business help. He did everything on his own, knowing that the relationship between them wasn’t strong, just ordinary family ties.
Ultimately, it was Old Master Ji and Old Madam Ji who owed Ji Chengshan, not his two older brothers. Ji Chengshan understood this well and never intended to leech off his brothers.
Like in his previous life, Ji Chengshan started various businesses—restaurants, a cosmetics company, and a women’s clothing store. He had always thought that if his daughter were alive, he would give her the best of everything.
After changing his surname, Ji Chengshan met with his old superior.
The old superior felt it was a pity Ji Chengshan didn’t stay in the military. But there were no what-ifs. Ji Chengshan didn’t know Xiao Man would abandon him. He only believed that by treating Xiao Man well, he could gradually warm her heart. He had overestimated himself.
When the factory was established, Ji Chengshan invited his former comrades to work as security guards. Many had little education. He also hired retired soldiers, ensuring jobs for disabled veterans at the factory.
In his previous life, Ji Chengshan did a lot of good deeds. Even when his daughter was gone, he didn’t give up on life. After being reborn, he believed that his good deeds in his past life earned him the merit to be reborn.
When someone suggested Ji Chengshan evade taxes, he firmly refused.
“This is legal tax avoidance, permitted by policy,” the person insisted. “It could save you a lot of money this year.”
“We don’t need that much money,” Ji Chengshan said, showing them out.
Ji Chengshan didn’t care if others legally avoided taxes. He paid his dues honestly. He understood that in certain eras, tax laws had loopholes, and various districts offered different incentives.
Ji Chengshan preferred simplicity. He paid his employees well, wanting them to live better lives. Even with high wages and taxes, he still earned enough each year to ensure his daughter lived comfortably.
Because Ji Chengshan was a Ji family member, many tried to drag him into their schemes, hoping he’d use family connections for business. Ji Chengshan refused, staying away from those with bad intentions.
In his previous life, Ji Chengshan was oppressed by the Dong family, but he worked hard to build his business from the ground up. He faced many challenges but never compromised his principles. Now, with better conditions, Ji Chengshan was even more determined to uphold his values and excel.
Without needing his daughter to worry much about him, Ji Chengshan maintained regular working hours, rarely working overtime. He wanted to spend more time with his daughter, efficiently handling work within his hours. His past life experience helped him avoid many mistakes.
Every time Ji Chengshan saw his daughter waiting for him to come home, he felt that all his efforts were worth it.
Old Madam Ji and Old Master Ji knew Ji Chengshan didn’t care much for them, but it didn’t matter. Ji Chengshan loved his daughter dearly. They understood that Ji Chengshan returned to the Ji family mainly to provide Ji Qingqing with a good environment where she would be cherished.
Ji Qingqing was the most important.
Old Madam Ji and Old Master Ji tried their best to be good to Ji Qingqing. Old Madam Ji wanted to make up for her son, finding it difficult to make amends with an adult but easier with a granddaughter. Old Master Ji genuinely adored his granddaughter, finding her much better behaved than Ji Mingzhu. Ji Qingqing wasn’t as mischievous or spoiled.
Sometimes, Old Master Ji wished his granddaughter were a bit more spoiled and willful, but she remained obedient. She excelled in her studies, which made Old Master Ji very fond of her.
When reporters asked Ji Chengshan why he started so many businesses related to women and produced products like sanitary pads, Ji Chengshan simply replied, “I have only one daughter! My only daughter! I want to give her the best and hope that all girls in the world can use safe and healthy products.”
