Lu Qingqing had just completed three major surgeries.
The moment she closed her eyes for a brief rest, she suddenly died and transmigrated.
Clutching her head as she tried to make sense of the strange memories flooding in, she couldn’t help but cry out in despair.
Sinned!
The original host had the same name — Lu Qingqing.
Her mother had died young, leaving behind an old father and two elder brothers.
Because her father and brothers were busy earning money and repaying debts, the young Lu Qingqing had been left in the care of others.
Unfortunately, she had been brought up all wrong.
By the time her family realized something was wrong and tried to discipline her, it was already too late!
Besides, they couldn’t bear to truly scold or hit her.
Every time she cried, the three men would feel heartbroken.
And so, Lu Qingqing had grown into a completely spoiled, foolish, and wicked girl.
The villagers all rolled their eyes at the sight of her, spitting on the ground.
Even the stray dogs barked more ferociously when she passed by.
Now, to make things worse, she had fallen for a scumbag and taken out a high-interest loan under false pretenses.
She ended up gambling away the small general store her father had painstakingly opened through day-and-night labor, even selling off their land — and still hadn’t paid the debt in full.
“Lu Qingqing!”
With a choked shout filled with fury, the rickety wooden door was kicked open.
A sixteen-year-old youth, his beautiful eyes red like a fire-breathing dragon, stormed in like a gust of wind and grabbed Lu Qingqing by the back of her collar.
Lu Qingqing dangled like a slab of misshapen pork, swinging left and right as she was dragged out.
“Kneel here!”
“If anything happens to my sister-in-law, I swear — this time I will throw you out of this house! No one’s word will change that!”
Lu Yun, Lu Qingqing’s second brother, only a year older than her, threw her to the ground.
This was the first time he had ever laid a hand on his sister — he was utterly, completely disappointed in her.
He had given up all hope that she could change for the better.
At this moment, pain and hatred overwhelmed him.
He stared at the tightly shut door of another room, his eyes growing redder with each passing second.
Inside was his sister-in-law, currently in labor.
She had been at it for a whole day and night.
The midwife said they’d try one last time. If that didn’t work, they’d have to prepare for the worst.
It was all Lu Qingqing’s fault!
Their father, now gaunt and haggard, crouched outside the door, his body hunched and his expression blank and bitter.
He looked as if he had aged several more years overnight.
From inside, the woman’s faint, intermittent cries of pain could be heard.
Lu Qingqing shook her aching head as the memories came flooding back.
..
The original host had gone into the mountains at the request of the scumbag, to find a herb called zihuai that he claimed could save his comatose mother.
In the mountains, she had run into three strangers — who happened to be holding that exact herb.
Hot-tempered as always, Lu Qingqing ignored the fact that these men looked dangerous. When intimidation didn’t work, she tried to snatch the herbs, even arrogantly claiming the mountain belonged to Liuyun Village and so did the herbs.
Naturally, she offended them. One of the men immediately drew a soft sword from his waist.
At that critical moment, Feng Xiaowan — her sister-in-law — rushed out to shield her and begged for mercy.
Still, Lu Qingqing had stumbled back in fear, hitting her head on a rock and passing out.
Oh — no, clearly, she had died then and there!
And her sister-in-law, Feng Shi, had gone into labor early from the stress.
“Why is it so quiet?” Father Lu, cheeks sunken and eyes bulging, looked toward the door in alarm.
The door suddenly flew open. Granny Li from the village ran out, face ashen.
“She can’t be saved!”
“The child hasn’t descended! It’s stuck!”
“She’s hemorrhaging!”
She’s hemorrhaging!
The words hit like a thunderclap, and both Father Lu and Lu Yun staggered.
Hemorrhaging — that meant… death.
“No, no, this can’t be happening. Auntie Li, you have to save my daughter-in-law! My eldest went to fetch a doctor, he’ll be back soon, very soon…”
“Old Lu! No doctor can help now! She’s hemorrhaging — both mother and child are as good as gone! Ah!”
Granny Li shook her head furiously, tears smearing blood on her face as she wiped it with her blood-stained hands, too flustered to care.
Lu Yun, still a teenager, was terrified and pale as a sheet.
He wanted to rush in but hesitated, not knowing what to do. “Sister-in-law…”
Was she going to die?
She had only been married into the Lu family for two years.
She never got to enjoy life — she worked all day and even looked after the troublesome Lu Qingqing.
Thanks to her, the men could go out to work and finally save some money.
But now… “Lu Qingqing, you really killed her — you really killed her! Why wasn’t it you instead?!”
Suddenly, Lu Qingqing shot to her feet and rushed into the room before anyone could stop her, like she was fleeing for her life.
She slammed the door shut behind her.
“Lu Qingqing! What are you doing? Come out!”
“Have you no humanity? Sister-in-law shouldn’t have saved you! She’s dying and you still torment her!”
“Lu Qingqing! If you don’t come out, I’ll break your legs!”
Lu Yun pounded on the door, shouting hoarsely.
Father Lu panicked too.
“Qingqing, please! Don’t torment your sister-in-law! Take my life instead, just come out, come out!”
The door suddenly flung open again, knocking Lu Yun aside and sending him sprawling to the ground.
Lu Qingqing’s face was stern, her eyes sharp and cold.
“Dad, go borrow some silver needles from Doctor Ding — Sister-in-law can still be saved! Hurry!”
With that, she reached out and grabbed Lu Yun by the collar — just as he had done to her earlier.
No one knew where she got the strength, but with one swing, she flung Lu Yun right out the door.
“…”
“Lu Qingqing! You— Dad, where are you going?”
Lu Yun scrambled up and shouted in disbelief as he watched his father stumble out.
“To borrow the needles!”
Lu Yun’s eyes widened.
Dad really went to borrow needles!
Wasn’t he afraid Lu Qingqing would just make things worse and hasten Sister-in-law’s death?
“Old Lu must be out of his mind! Listening to that wicked girl at a time like this!” Granny Li muttered angrily.
No matter how good the men in the family were, no one would want to marry into a household with a daughter like that!
“Auntie Li, please, save my sister-in-law again. I’m begging you,” Lu Yun pleaded desperately.
“It’s no use. Even if you fetch the town doctor, it won’t help. Don’t waste your money. Poor Feng Shi…”
Granny Li sighed, not wanting to stay any longer.
She had seen many cases like this. In ten childbirths, two women would die. If there was hemorrhaging, it was even worse — basically a one-way ticket to the underworld.
It all came down to fate.
Inside, Lu Qingqing didn’t care what was happening outside.
She rummaged through the sewing box and pulled out a few sewing needles, sterilized them with a candle flame, and began acupuncture on the Yinbai point.
Most postpartum hemorrhages were caused by uterine atony, retained placenta, or coagulation issues. Before delivery, it was often due to placenta previa or abruption.
In Feng Xiaowan’s case, it was a placental abruption caused by external force.
Luckily, the condition wasn’t severe — the bleeding wasn’t too much, and her cervix was dilated.
A normal delivery was still possible.
The real problem was that the baby hadn’t descended into the birth canal, and Feng Xiaowan had fainted from the pain — she couldn’t push.
Lu Qingqing inserted needles into several key acupoints to stop the bleeding, pinched the philtrum, and stimulated the soles of the feet.
Feng Shi stirred and slowly regained consciousness from the pain.
Her blurry eyes couldn’t focus.
“Feng-ge…”
“Sister-in-law, big brother will be back soon. You have to hang on. If the baby doesn’t come out now, it’ll suffocate…”
