“Grandpa has a seesaw, a trampoline, a slide, and swings at home…”
“Wow, wow, wow!!”
“And we even have horses, little ponies! When you’re older, you can ride one.”
“Wow, wow, wow! Yuanyuan wants to ride a pony too!!”
Just moments ago, Old Master Yu had been set on leaving, but now he was proudly listing all the fun things he had at home, built originally to entertain his grandchildren.
Hmph, those little brats didn’t appreciate it, but now someone else does.
Yuanyuan’s enthusiastic response made Old Master Yu feel incredibly pleased with himself. He was almost ready to take her to his house right then and there.
But today was their first meeting, and Yu Jinxiao wasn’t around. Old Master Yu knew he had to restrain himself for now.
Still…
He had dangled the bait. From how excited the little girl seemed, she’d definitely be eager to visit his house in the future.
“Hmph, as if she won’t come over after hearing that,” he thought smugly.
“Grandpa, is your house super big?” Yuanyuan asked, stretching out her arms to show just how big she imagined it to be.
Old Master Yu chuckled, pleased. “Of course. It’s much bigger than your house. You’ll see when you visit. You can run wherever you want, and there’s a whole lawn. The garden is filled with rare roses, in every color you can think of.”
“Wow—” Yuanyuan squatted by his feet, her big, beautiful eyes fixed on him with intense focus. “Yuanyuan really wants to go. When can I visit, Grandpa?”
“Heh, you’ll have to ask your dad.”
“If Daddy says yes, then I can go?”
“Probably.”
“Okay, I’ll ask him when he gets home.”
With that, the two of them came to a successful agreement. Yuanyuan rummaged through her toy box again, looking for something else to play with her grandpa.
They had already played with the building blocks, and she didn’t want him to get bored. So, being thoughtful, she decided to change the game.
“Grandpa, how about we play school?”
She set up a tiny blackboard and grabbed a little toy pointer. Teacher Yuanyuan was ready for class!
Old Master Yu nodded. He figured learning a bit of math couldn’t hurt—it could even be good preparation for when she started school.
Taking off his suit jacket again, Old Master Yu was just about to stand and go to the blackboard when he caught sight of Yuanyuan’s puzzled look.
She was already holding the pointer, standing beside the blackboard, gazing at him with a curious expression, clearly wondering why he was trying to take her place.
Without either of them saying a word, Old Master Yu quickly understood the situation. “You’re the teacher?”
“Yes!” Yuanyuan responded confidently.
In her mind, she was always the teacher when they played at home. Her brothers were the students. This unspoken rule had become a fixed standard for her.
Well, alright then.
It was just a game, and Old Master Yu didn’t care who played the teacher.
“Grandpa, please sit properly,” Yuanyuan instructed, pretending to adjust an imaginary pair of glasses. “Today, Teacher Yuanyuan is going to teach… math!”
Oh? This little one’s quite smart, Old Master Yu thought, impressed. She’s already teaching math.
He straightened his posture and leaned back on the sofa, trying to look like a serious student. Despite his usual stern expression, he was doing his best to play along.
The passing staff couldn’t help but find the sight strange.
They had never seen Old Master Yu play with his two grandsons like this. And now, on the very first day he met Miss Yuanyuan, they were somehow getting along perfectly.
“This is… seven, and this is… two.” Yuanyuan pointed at the numbers on the blackboard, taking a moment to recognize them, as her little brain processed everything slowly. “What’s seven plus two? Grandpa, please answer.”
Old Master Yu thought the game was a bit childish, but Yuanyuan looked so serious that he didn’t want to let her down.
“The answer is nine,” he said, sighing inwardly. Even Yingze could solve this—it was a question way beneath his level.
Yuanyuan stared at the blackboard for a long moment, then shook her head. “Nope, that’s wrong.”
Huh?
Seven plus two isn’t nine?
Then what could it be?
