With a sullen expression, Wen Zifei had already left, leaving only Chu Qi and Gu Beiyan behind, waving and saying, “See you tomorrow.”
Gu Beiyan, in particular, flashed a fawning grin when he spotted Yu Jinxiao, even going so far as to wave enthusiastically, hoping to get on his good side.
But Yu Jinxiao, completely uninterested in anything else, ignored him, delivering a devastating blow to Gu Beiyan’s enthusiasm.
Once they were in the car and all the other children had left, Yu Jinxiao turned to Yu yuanyuan with a serious expression. “Do you know what ‘servant’ means?”
Hugging her backpack, the little one thought for a moment. With an innocent face that betrayed no deep understanding, she blinked and confidently said, “I know!”
Yu Jinxiao, with his well-honed ability to “read” his daughter, wasn’t fooled by her cute act.
The more sure Yu yuanyuan sounded, the more Yu Jinxiao knew she had no clue what “servant” really meant.
“Then tell me,” he said, crossing his arms and giving her a chance without bursting her bubble just yet.
Playing with her backpack straps, Yu yuanyuan mumbled, “Daddy doesn’t even know this?”
Yu Jinxiao: “…”
Oh, you’re getting bold, huh?
To explain what a servant was, Yu yuanyuan started rambling, going off on a long-winded explanation about everything—from her morning class details to how lunch tasted. Finally, she got to the point.
After listening to the whole story, Yu Jinxiao was left in awe.
Did his little girl really manage to get a servant on her first day at kindergarten?
The driver, Gao Zhou, who had been eavesdropping, couldn’t help but turn around and compliment her. “Miss Yuanyuan, you’re amazing!”
“Hehehe,” Yu yuanyuan giggled proudly, her face glowing with joy.
Yu Jinxiao, still in disbelief, asked a few more questions to understand how her day had gone.
The summary of her day was:
Earlier, Yu Jinxiao had mentioned to a business partner that his child was starting kindergarten, and he needed to pick her up on time. The partner had chuckled, saying kids usually cry terribly on their first day and that dropping them off at school would only get harder.
Yu Jinxiao had been dreading the idea of a tearful goodbye.
But Yuanyuan’s experience didn’t match that expectation at all.
“So, do you want to go back tomorrow?” Yu Jinxiao asked.
Yu yuanyuan, holding her backpack and starting to drift off, nodded sleepily, barely keeping her eyes open. “Yes, I want to go.”
Aren’t kids supposed to miss their parents, cry, and hate kindergarten on the first day?
Why was Yu Jinxiao witnessing the complete opposite?
After a few moments of silence, Yu Jinxiao couldn’t help but ask, “Did you think about your brothers at school?”
Smart move, he deliberately didn’t ask if she missed him.
“Yes!” Yuanyuan nodded eagerly. “I missed my brothers so much.”
“And… did you think about anyone else?”
Yu yuanyuan, not quite getting the hint, fell into deep thought. “Anyone else?”
Gao Zhou, overhearing, stifled a laugh. Yu Jinxiao’s roundabout questioning clearly wasn’t going to work on a three-and-a-half-year-old.
“Yes!” Yuanyuan’s eyes lit up, and she sat up straight, as if she’d just had an epiphany.
Yu Jinxiao raised his chin slightly, ready to bask in his daughter’s expected declaration of affection.
“Uncle Gao! Yuanyuan missed you so much while at school!”
Yu Jinxiao: “…”
