One moment, the little one was all smiles, but the next, it was as if she’d been struck by lightning. Her hands froze on her belly, and she sat there in shock.
After processing what Yu Jinxiao had just said, Yu Yuanyuan let out a wail, “Nooo! Don’t throw Yuanyuan away, meow!”
“Alright, stop making a fuss. You ran away from the orphanage, and everyone’s been looking for you.” Yu Jinxiao’s cold face softened ever so slightly, his voice tinged with reluctant comfort.
He couldn’t understand why he felt the need to console this little thing. Soon, he’d be returning her to the orphanage, and life would return to peace—no more trouble.
He had brought her back last night simply to probe her situation a bit more.
Yu Jinxiao hadn’t risen to his current status without encountering all kinds of strange occurrences. He was always deeply suspicious of anything “unusual.”
When he first met Yu Yuanyuan, he thought someone was trying to use her to target the Yu family by taking advantage of past events.
But Gao Zhou had investigated thoroughly and found that it was all a coincidence.
Since that was the case, Yu Yuanyuan should return to where she belonged.
“I don’t want to go! If I&@… #%!…” Yuanyuan suddenly remembered the dream she had last night. If she left, her dad would get hurt—he would even lose two fingers!
She tried to speak about the dream, but it felt like her mouth had been glued shut. No words came out.
Her tiny body froze in the chair. After what felt like forever, she tried opening her mouth again and cautiously said, “Meow?”
Huh, she could talk!
Yuanyuan remembered the dream and panicked again, “*&… @%!… %!”
Why was her mouth sealed shut again?!
The others looked at her in confusion as Yu Yuanyuan struggled by herself, her face twisting in all sorts of expressions. At one point, her little claws tugged at her chin as if she was fighting some invisible force, making her look like she was having a meltdown.
Yu Jinxiao stood there, watching her without a hint of concern.
He knew this wouldn’t be easy. Whatever tricks she pulled today, he wasn’t going to soften.
After almost five minutes of struggling—which felt like an eternity to Yuanyuan—she was exhausted and had run out of energy.
It was over. She couldn’t tell her dad about the dream, and now… now he’d get hurt…
“Are you done? If so, let’s go.” Yu Jinxiao, one hand in his pocket, walked over to her chair and reached out to grab her by the collar.
For once, Yuanyuan reacted quickly, leaning back and pulling her chubby body away to avoid his grip.
Hmph! Yuanyuan was an agile kitty and wouldn’t be caught so easily!
“Carry her, chair and all, to the car,” Yu Jinxiao ordered coldly, turning and striding toward the door without a second glance.
Yu Yuanyuan stared blankly, even forgetting to cry.
Two servants, one on each side, lifted her along with the chair as if carrying a sedan, and headed straight for the front door.
Gao Zhou had already parked the car outside, the tires weighed down as if the trunk was loaded with cargo.
Yu Yuanyuan, still too stunned to fuss, was swiftly scooped up by Yu Jinxiao and placed in the back seat, faster than she could process.
“Let me out! &*%#¥!” Yu Yuanyuan clawed at the door, but it wouldn’t open. She wanted desperately to tell him about her dream, but every time she tried, her mouth clamped shut.
Wuwuwu, it had to be a monster! A monster that wouldn’t let her speak!
“All set. Let’s go,” Yu Jinxiao said as he settled into the front passenger seat, his gaze fixed coldly on the road ahead, trying to escape the chaos in the back.
Gao Zhou sighed softly. He had known it would end like this.
Just as the car started moving, Yu Mingxi rushed out of the house, panting, “Wait! Hold on!”
