Waking up full of confidence, little Yuanyuan faced a blow after her attempts.
Her belly was soaking wet, and her collar was just as drenched, making her look like she had just been fished out of a water tank.
“Yuanyuan is amazing, isn’t she?” Yu Mingxi exaggeratedly praised, placing his hands on her small shoulders. “When your brother was your age, he couldn’t even pour water without spilling it all over himself. Adults really do make everything easier.”
“But… but Yuanyuan also spilled water all over herself today,” the little one replied, feeling wronged.
She sat at the edge of the bed, her tiny hands tugging at the fluffy fabric of her shirt, glancing up at Yu Mingxi with uncertainty in her eyes.
Children are observant, especially little Yu Yuanyuan, who, like a kitten, cared deeply about others’ reactions.
“But you brushed your teeth successfully, didn’t you? And you washed your face all by yourself!” Yu Mingxi clapped his hands in a cheerful rhythm, lifting the heavy mood. “When I was your age, I couldn’t wash my face or brush my teeth on my own.”
“Wow… Am I really… that amazing?” The little girl’s mood was lifted instantly.
Her wide, glimmering eyes gazed at her brother in disbelief, and a little bit of pride crept into her voice.
It wasn’t Yuanyuan’s first time washing her face by herself. She had done it successfully before—this time was just a minor slip-up.
Children shouldn’t be held to impossible standards, after all.
“Of course! You’re really amazing, Yuanyuan.”
“Then, then, when will Yuanyuan be able to do everything by herself like big brother? Like washing her face and brushing her teeth?”
Yu Mingxi gently patted her still-messy bedhead. “Yuanyuan will grow up and get taller, and when that happens, you’ll be able to do so many things. There’s no rush—kids your age do different things, and you’ll get better and better at everything.”
“Wow!” The little one’s eyes sparkled with excitement for the future.
In the fairyland, her leopard mama had told her the same thing—that she would grow up, get stronger, and eventually learn everything.
But right now, she was still a little cub who needed protection. When she grew up, she would have the strength to protect those she loved.
“By the way, Yuanyuan, how much toothpaste did you use earlier?” Yu Mingxi asked, pulling out the tube of toothpaste from the bathroom, preparing to give her a little lesson on proper toothpaste use.
The tube felt significantly lighter than it had the night before!
Yuanyuan bit her finger as she thought, then held out her small paw, fingers spread wide, and measured out a rough distance. “This much!”
“That doesn’t seem like a lot…” Yu Mingxi was confused. How did she manage to make so much foam with just that?
Her mouth wasn’t a foaming net, after all.
“It wasn’t just this much—it was this much!” Yuanyuan stretched her little hand even wider, using her other hand to show an even bigger measurement.
Yu Mingxi was stunned.
Clearly, he had been too naive.
There was no way that a tiny bit of toothpaste could make that much foam!
Yuanyuan wasn’t measuring distance—she was showing volume.
At least the size of a dumpling.
The toothpaste he had given her was specifically for children, small and compact. A significant reduction in weight was very noticeable.
The instructions said to use an amount the size of a corn kernel. Yuanyuan, however, had squeezed out a dumpling-sized blob.
Good grief, she must have thought she was making a meal!
“Yuanyuan, next time, just use this much,” he said, squeezing a tiny, sample-sized blob onto his finger to demonstrate.
Yuanyuan studied it carefully, nodding like a little bobblehead. “Yuanyuan understands now.”
“Alright, now let’s change your clothes, and then we’ll go downstairs for breakfast, okay?”
Yu Mingxi sorted through the clothes their aunt had bought yesterday, picking out a T-shirt and some wide-legged pants.
“Yuanyuan wants to do it herself! I want to dress myself!” the little girl volunteered eagerly.
Remembering the toothpaste incident from earlier, Yu Mingxi was a little skeptical. “Are you sure? I can ask Auntie to help…”
“Yuanyuan can do it! I’ll put on a show and dress myself for you!”
