“Forget it, forget it. I won’t rely on you. I’ll look for them myself, just stick close to me and don’t wander off,” Yu Yingze said, noticing her short legs and arms, figuring she couldn’t even catch a caterpillar.
The little one didn’t argue. She reached out her tiny paw and grabbed the hem of his shirt, obediently following him.
Though her tugging made his clothes a bit crooked, Yu Yingze suddenly realized that Yu Yuanyuan wasn’t as hard to take care of as he had imagined.
She didn’t run off, always holding onto him while walking, so he didn’t need to worry about her suddenly disappearing in some random place.
She followed directions, didn’t cry when she lost a game, and overall, she was quite easy to manage.
“Second brother, that tall boy is over there in the corner,” Yu Yuanyuan said, raising her hand and pointing to a barely noticeable spot.
Yu Yingze had already checked that area earlier and hadn’t found anything unusual, so he moved on.
“How do you know?” Having been fooled once, Yu Yingze was skeptical.
Yu Yuanyuan wrinkled her cute little nose. “Yuanyuan smelled it. That boy smells like milk.”
Yu Yingze: “…”
Even a dog’s nose isn’t that sharp.
But only a fool would take the word of a three-year-old seriously.
“I’ve already checked there; there’s nothing.” As he spoke, Yu Yingze began pulling Yu Yuanyuan away.
But the little one slipped from his grasp and ran straight toward the corner, pulling out a live human being to show him.
Now it was Yu Yingze’s turn to be utterly dumbfounded.
The boy, realizing Yu Yuanyuan had become Yu Yingze’s “ally” and was helping catch the others, let out a sigh. “Yuanyuan, how did you find me?”
The boy had originally hidden elsewhere, but after spotting Yu Yingze, he had stealthily followed behind him. Once Yu Yingze checked the corner and left, the boy hid there, thinking it would be the perfect hiding spot.
That way, he might be the last one found.
“You smell,” Yu Yuanyuan said, sniffing the air like a little animal.
The boy turned pale, quickly raising his arms to sniff himself. “Do I smell bad? That’s impossible—I took a shower this morning.”
“No, it’s a nice, milky smell. It smells good,” Yu Yuanyuan replied, still sniffing and almost pressing her nose against his wrist.
Yu Yingze, expressionless, pulled her back and held her head down to stop her from getting too close.
Hearing this, the boy relaxed. “Oh, that’s just my body wash. It’s milk-scented.”
“Yuanyuan wants to use milk-scented body wash too!” she squealed.
With less than five minutes left and three people still hiding, Yu Yingze was still skeptical of Yu Yuanyuan’s sharp sense of smell. But, always one to seek the truth, he pulled her along and said, “Alright, let’s go catch the last three.”
This time, Yu Yuanyuan led the way, with Yu Yingze and the boy following behind.
The trio, with their varying heights, created a comical scene as they weaved through the rock formations in the garden.
“They’re over there, under that dirt mound. It’s the boy with the thick eyebrows,” Yu Yuanyuan suddenly announced.
The boy they had just caught was now on Yu Yingze’s team. Curious about Yu Yuanyuan’s seemingly sharp nose, he eagerly ran over the dirt mound and pulled out another kid.
The boy with the thick eyebrows blinked in shock, his eyebrows twitching. “How did you find me? I was hiding so well.”
“Ha! What’s the point of hiding well? Yuanyuan smelled you!” the first boy laughed.
The thick-browed boy’s shock only deepened.
