Chapter 11
When Daddy said he could buy her something delicious, Nuo Nuo immediately stopped crying and looked longingly at the lamb skewers, not wanting to switch to something else. After a moment of hesitation, she asked her father, “Daddy, have you never tried lamb skewers before? I’m telling you, they’re really delicious. Just looking at them makes me want to eat them.”
Nuo Nuo spoke so seriously, as if she had truly experienced it. Her big, sparkling eyes, full of longing, added to her persuasive charm.
Of course, Sheng Zexi had tried them before, but he wasn’t sure if Xu Ai had ever brought her to eat them. Since she had tasted them, a little indulgence wouldn’t hurt. He didn’t want to upset the crying child, so he agreed, “Okay, but only one skewer. Kids shouldn’t eat too much of these things.”
Nuo Nuo felt satisfied with just one skewer, so she thought about it and agreed obediently, “Okay, Daddy. We can come back another time to eat more.”

He showed no expression and went to buy the lamb skewers for Nuo Nuo.
The lamb skewers smelled incredibly delicious, sprinkled with sesame seeds. As Nuo Nuo waited for the vendor to grill them, she felt her saliva almost dripping out. When she got the skewers, she happily thanked the vendor, “Thank you, Mr. Vendor.”
The vendor, seeing the pretty and polite little girl, smiled at Sheng Zexi and said, “Your little girl seems really well-behaved.”
The girl looked fair and clean, with a face as soft and fluffy as a bun. Her eyes crinkled into little crescent shapes when she smiled, her long lashes fluttering like tiny brushes. She was incredibly adorable.
It was truly enviable to have such a lovely daughter. One couldn’t help but wonder what kind of luck it took to have such a beautiful child. But the father’s good looks were also notable, so the mother must be quite beautiful too.
As soon as Nuo Nuo got the lamb skewers, she tried to eat them. Her cherry-pink lips parted as she attempted to bite into the meat. Sheng Zexi recalled how the nanny spoiled her and knew she must watch a lot of TV at home. Too much TV was bad for children’s eyes, and he felt it was important to mention this to the nanny.
Sheng Zexi thought it was also important to make Nuo Nuo aware of this, so he told her, “Don’t watch so much TV, it’s bad for your eyes.”
Nuo Nuo quickly nodded in agreement, “Okay, Daddy.”
Whether she would remember this in the future was another matter. Since Daddy bought her a treat, Nuo Nuo agreed quickly.
Because Nuo Nuo agreed so quickly, Sheng Zexi doubted the sincerity of her promise. Moreover, he had just been tricked by her.
With a cold “Mm,” he planned to leave.
But Nuo Nuo had more things she wanted to eat. She immediately pointed to a pancake and said, “Daddy, I want to eat that. It looks really delicious too.”

Nuo Nuo tilted her little head and asked, “Will we come out again this afternoon?”

Upon hearing that Daddy wouldn’t buy it for her, Nuo Nuo immediately became unhappy. With the lamb skewer still unfinished, she ate while blinking her eyes. This was the first time Sheng Zexi had ever been called that, especially by the same little girl who had just praised him. He asked, “Didn’t you just say Daddy was great? How come I’m not great now?”
With her mouth full of food, Nuo Nuo paused her tears and responded, “Because Daddy bought me something delicious just now, but now you won’t buy anything.”
The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. She took a big bite of the lamb skewer, her small, sharp teeth glistening as she bit down hard. Watching her, Sheng Zexi wondered if she was trying to bite the skewer or herself.
Nearby, a sign for a talent development center stood, which read, “Don’t let your child feel wronged.”
Seeing Nuo Nuo’s pitiful expression, Sheng Zexi thought that he wouldn’t take her out again anyway. He smiled, reasoning that it wouldn’t look good to go back with her crying. After some contemplation, he decided to indulge her wish and bought her some other treats.
Children can be quite clever; after Nuo Nuo realized that crying got her what she wanted, she started to push her luck, asking her father to buy her more and more things. Besides food, she also wanted toys. Sheng Zexi figured he wouldn’t take her out again tomorrow, so he decided to indulge her wishes, not wanting to see her sad little face, which would annoy him.
Thus, he bought her any toys she wanted, regardless of how many.
While paying, when he mentioned sending the newly bought toys home, Nuo Nuo protested, “Daddy, if you send my toys home, what will I play with? I’ll be so bored!”
At that moment, Sheng Zexi wished he could send her home too, but there was no time. After thinking it over, he decided to have them sent to his office instead to avoid any tears later in the afternoon.
After returning to the company, Nuo Nuo had already eaten her fill. Sheng Zexi let her play in the office while he went to have his lunch.
After a while, the delivery of Nuo Nuo’s toys arrived. Employees heading out for a break stared wide-eyed as a group of people brought in a pile of children’s toys, filling the normally stern and cold office of the president with adorable items—stuffed animals, Barbie dolls, toy cars, and various boxes of building blocks that Sheng Zexi hadn’t even realized he had purchased.
Seeing her toys arrive so quickly made Nuo Nuo extremely happy. She joyfully played with the toy cars in her father’s large office. When the vice president came over, he couldn’t help but wonder if he had mistakenly come to a different place for work.
Sheng Zexi’s office? How did it turn into this? It looked like a children’s amusement park with so many toys!
He hadn’t even been gone for a day!
