Chapter 44
After breakfast, Xu Ai went upstairs to change her clothes. The color of her outfit was quite similar to Nuo Nuo’s, and the two of them looked like they were wearing matching outfits, which made Sheng Zexi feel a little itchy to join in.
However, he didn’t have clothes in similar colors, so even if he felt itchy, it didn’t matter.
They had already bought the tickets online, so when they arrived at the aquarium, they didn’t need to collect tickets and could simply scan their codes to enter.
There were quite a few people today. Nuo Nuo held her dad’s hand and her mom’s hand, her eyes sparkling as she looked around the crowd.
“Mommy, Daddy, I want to see dolphins! I haven’t seen dolphins in a long time.”
The little one already had her own goal early on, scanning the crowd for the dolphins she wanted to see. However, there were no dolphins at the entrance. She could only look at other fish for now.
Fortunately, there were many types of fish, and once Nuo Nuo saw them, she was captivated by the various colorful fish.
At the same time, her little head kept popping up with questions.
“Mommy, Daddy, why are the fish in the sea so beautiful? The fish I usually see outside aren’t that pretty!”
“Mommy, Daddy, look at this fish! It’s so cute. Why is it red?”
“Mommy, Daddy, why can fish swim so happily in the water, but we can’t?”
Xu Ai found the little one’s questions a bit too much, so she released Nuo Nuo’s hand and passed her to Sheng Zexi. “Daddy, your daughter has questions for you.”
After all, Sheng Zexi wasn’t an encyclopedia and didn’t know many answers. Just as he was about to check his phone, he saw a little sign on the glass beside him that had the answers the child wanted, so he started answering.
However, Nuo Nuo didn’t really care about the answers. While Sheng Zexi was seriously answering her questions, the little one got distracted by a nearby orca and immediately moved closer to look.
Her eyes widened as she stared, and after poking the glass, she said to her parents, “Hehe, it’s so cute! Daddy, what kind of fish is this? It looks a bit like a dolphin.”
Just then, the orca suddenly opened its mouth, scaring the shy little kids nearby, causing them to step back. Nuo Nuo was startled too, but she bravely said, “Mommy, Daddy, I’m not scared at all!”
Xu Ai glanced at the label next to them and said, “This is the dolphin you’ve been thinking about. Don’t you recognize it?”
Nuo Nuo’s mouth dropped into an O-shape, and she pressed her face against the glass, giggling, “I want to be close to the dolphin!”
A little girl a bit older than Nuo Nuo, watching the orca, looked puzzled and asked, “Daddy, isn’t this orca a dolphin? Why is it called an orca?”
The little girl’s dad explained, “Because it’s both a dolphin and a whale.”
The little girl still looked confused, but Nuo Nuo seemed to have understood something: “So that’s how it is?”
The little girl continued to ask, “Then, Daddy, why is it both a whale and a dolphin?”
The parent seemed a bit impatient and, seeing Nuo Nuo looking like she understood, said, “Why are you so dumb? Look at the little girl next to you. She understands.”
Suddenly being called out, Nuo Nuo looked over.
Xu Ai said, “Your daughter is still a child. She doesn’t necessarily know everything. It’s good for children to be eager to learn and ask questions.”
Soon, they walked in the opposite direction of that father-daughter pair.
Next, they went to look at the corals.
Nuo Nuo found the corals beautiful and immediately started asking her mom a bunch of questions. Soon she asked, “Mommy, why are these corals so pretty?”
Nuo Nuo kept asking questions along the way, and Xu Ai felt a bit annoyed. So she said to Nuo Nuo, “You can ask your dad.”
Nuo Nuo pouted, “But Mommy, you said that it’s good for children to be eager to learn and ask questions.”
Xu Ai: “…” I was just being polite, and you took it seriously.
Seeing Xu Ai at a loss for words because of their daughter, Sheng Zexi smiled lightly. Just then, Xu Ai turned her head and saw the smile on his lips. She immediately shot him a glare and said, “What are you laughing at? Go take care of your daughter.”
Sheng Zexi good-naturedly replied with an “Okay,” then picked up the little one and began explaining to her.
Before long, Nuo Nuo saw a mermaid. When she spotted the beautiful mermaid in the glass, she exclaimed in awe, “So there really are beautiful mermaids in the world?”
The mermaid on the other side of the glass waved at the passing tourists.
But it wasn’t a real mermaid. It was just a staff member in costume.
Xu Ai said, “No, it’s just a staff member.”
However, Nuo Nuo wouldn’t believe her mom’s words: “It’s a real mermaid! I saw it!”
“It’s just a staff member pretending.”
“They can live in the water, but we can’t.”
“Because they have diving equipment.”
Nuo Nuo was at a loss for words against her mom’s logic, and she immediately became anxious: “There are real mermaids in this world!”
Mermaids are a topic where some say they exist and others say they don’t. No one has ever seen a real mermaid, and surely they aren’t like what Nuo Nuo imagines. But since the little one insisted that there are mermaids in the world, Xu Ai decided to indulge her.
“Okay, okay, there are real mermaids in this world, alright?”
Her tone was quite dismissive, but Nuo Nuo didn’t mind. After getting her mom’s affirmation, she happily smiled. Then they went to see sharks and took photos with seals. The wonderful day quickly came to an end.
Daddy had promised that they could go out to play again tomorrow, so naturally, Nuo Nuo thought Mommy would go too. After making her plans, early the next morning, she woke Xu Ai up.
Xu Ai was already tired from the previous day’s outings and didn’t want to go at all. Seeing her daughter wanting her to join, she immediately felt displeased and said, “That’s your dad who promised to take you out. I didn’t say I’d go. You should go find your dad.”
The little one’s eyes turned red immediately, and she said, “But you promised!”
Xu Ai was getting irritated and immediately called Sheng Zexi: “Hurry up and take your daughter away. Don’t let her disturb my rest.”
Sheng Zexi took the little one outside and coaxed her for a while. Finally, Nuo Nuo stopped bothering her mom, carrying her backpack with a sulky expression as she went with Daddy to Disneyland. By the time they returned in the evening, she was already cheerful, telling Mommy, “Mommy, we went to Disneyland today! I took photos with so many princesses! You didn’t go out with me, so you couldn’t see any of it!”
Xu Ai shot a glance at her smug little girl and reached out to Sheng Zexi, asking for his phone: “Give me your phone.”
Sheng Zexi didn’t know what she wanted to do, but he handed it over.
Xu Ai opened the album and indeed saw the photos he took. She sent them to herself and then posted them on her social media account.
【Two days of weekend fun with the kid.】
Below were the photos from those two days.
When Sheng Zexi saw her post, he looked at Nuo Nuo, who was happily playing with her toys, and smiled.
Fortunately, Nuo Nuo didn’t have a phone. Otherwise, she would have caused a stir.
