Wang Sasa took a taxi directly home with Tan Yixuan. As she unlocked the front door, Wang Sasa suddenly felt a pang of anxiety.

Recently, Aunt Wang had gone back to the countryside, so no one had tidied up the house. Wang Sasa, who usually avoided housework, hadn’t cleaned up at all; it seemed like the trash hadn’t been taken out for several days.

Clearing her throat, Wang Sasa said to Tan Yixuan, “How about we stay in a hotel for the night?”

Tan Yixuan glanced around and asked, “Is there something in your house that’s not presentable?”

Wang Sasa forced a smile, resignedly opened the door, and nonchalantly changed her shoes before entering the living room. She casually tossed a half-eaten packet of chips from the sofa into the trash can and said, “It’s a bit messy, sorry for the inconvenience.”

It wasn’t just a bit messy.

Tan Yixuan looked around: the coffee table was covered with takeout and snacks that had clearly been there for a long time, and there was a layer of dust on the floor. She couldn’t help but take a step back and looked at her fingertips.

After testing the floor with a swipe, her fingertips came away dirty. She wiped a bead of cold sweat from her forehead and said, “Wang Sasa, do you live in a garbage dump?”

Wang Sasa, feeling defensive, said, “I’m so busy with studying and doing square dancing with you that I haven’t had time to clean up!” She added, trying to salvage her dignity, “It’s not usually this messy; it’s just that Aunt Wang has been on leave recently.”

Tan Yixuan took a deep breath and gritted her teeth, “So where am I supposed to sleep tonight?” She certainly didn’t want to sleep in a garbage dump.

Wang Sasa quickly got up and led Tan Yixuan to the bedroom. “Don’t worry, I won’t let you sleep in the living room. You can sleep in the bedroom with me.”

Wang Sasa’s apartment was nearly a hundred square meters, so it had more than one bedroom. However, the other bedrooms were also untidy, so it was better to let Tan Yixuan share her bed.

Tan Yixuan looked at her with skepticism as Wang Sasa opened the bedroom door. Thankfully, Wang Sasa still had some sense of propriety, so the bedroom was not too messy. The bed wasn’t neatly made, and clothes that had been changed days ago were scattered on the bed. Books were scattered across the desk.

Wang Sasa’s gaze swept over the desk, and her expression quickly became serious. She hurriedly pushed Tan Yixuan into the bathroom. “You take a shower first, and I’ll tidy up a bit.”

Tan Yixuan was perplexed as she was pushed into the bathroom and sighed at the bathroom mirror.

Wang Sasa anxiously cleaned up the comics on the desk, secretly stuffing them deep into the bookshelf. That was close; Tan Yixuan almost found out she had been secretly reading adult comics. How could a pure high school girl read such things? She patted her chest, relieved that she was clever enough.

Wang Sasa’s bed was large enough that two people sleeping on it wouldn’t feel cramped. When Tan Yixuan had slept on her small bed before, Wang Sasa had been very proper, lying quietly with her hands on her stomach. But now, with such a large bed, she could turn around without any issues.

As a result, Tan Yixuan had a nightmare all night, as if a huge mountain was pressing down on her, making it impossible to turn. When she opened her eyes the next morning, she realized that the mountain in her dream was actually Wang Sasa’s arm.

Wang Sasa had unknowingly held her all night!

Tan Yixuan exhaled heavily, gritted her teeth, and tried to move Wang Sasa’s arm away. However, as soon as she moved her right hand, Wang Sasa’s left hand came over. Trapped in Wang Sasa’s embrace, Tan Yixuan didn’t dare to breathe too loudly. She looked up at Wang Sasa’s peaceful sleeping face, and her ears turned slightly red.

••••

“You seem to have slept poorly again.” After finishing her reading, Wang Sasa closed her textbook and turned to look at her deskmate thoughtfully. “Do you often have trouble sleeping or have disturbing dreams?”

Tan Yixuan kept her head down and calmly replied, “No.”

Wang Sasa squinted at her for a moment, then shrugged and said, “Alright then.”

As the students from Class 6 of Senior Year gradually entered the classroom, Wang Sasa saw Zhang Yu walk in and smiled slightly. She went up to Zhang Yu, leaned against the desk, and asked, “Have you found your watch?”

Wang Sasa was actually taking the initiative to speak to someone? Instantly, the entire class’s attention was focused on Wang Sasa and Zhang Yu. Both the original and Wang Sasa had been very aloof. Apart from Tan Yixuan, neither of them usually engaged in conversations unless they were looking for trouble.

Zhang Yu, thinking Wang Sasa was coming to pick a fight, stiffened up immediately. In fact, the watch had been found that morning, just under her bed.

Zhang Yu wasn’t sure whether she had dropped it herself or if the thief had deliberately left it behind. However, since Tan Yixuan hadn’t been in the dormitory last night, she could be mostly ruled out as a suspect.

Seeing Zhang Yu’s expression, Wang Sasa tilted her chin slightly and said, “If that’s the case, shouldn’t you apologize to Tan Yixuan?”

Zhang Yu glared at her through gritted teeth and said in a barely audible voice, “…Sorry.”

Wang Sasa rolled her eyes and said, “The apology is your responsibility; whether Tan Yixuan forgives you or not is up to her. Now you can go back to your seat.”

Tan Yixuan was slightly stunned by this and, realizing that Wang Sasa was considering her feelings, felt some of her frustration dissipate. She smiled and said to Zhang Yu, “Stop standing there and go back to studying. The class teacher will call for recitations later.”

Wang Sasa returned to her seat as instructed, ignoring the still-standing Zhang Yu.

Zhang Yu, feeling stifled by the situation and the lack of attention from the two, could only return to her seat in frustration. The situation got even more unbearable at lunchtime.

Wang Sasa looked at the love letter handed to her with surprise. Her gaze shifted from the boy’s face to Zhang Yu’s face nearby. She remembered that the boy confessing to her had previously pursued Zhang Yu.

“Wang Shasha, please accept this…”

Wang Sasa took the love letter and tried to recall the boy’s name. “You’re Li Songbo?”

Li Songbo’s anxious face showed a hint of surprise. “You know me?”

Wang Sasa glanced at Tan Yixuan, only to find Tan Yixuan looking back at her. The two locked eyes for a moment, both surprised. Wang Sasa’s lips curved slightly as she said to Li Songbo, “Yixuan and Zhang Yu are roommates. Do you want me to give this letter to Zhang Yu?”

Li Songbo’s face immediately turned red upon hearing this.

In reality, Li Songbo had come to deliver the love letter today because he was provoked by his roommates and Zhang Yu. When boys gathered, the topic often centered around the beautiful girls from their school. Previously, they didn’t dare to like Wang Sasa due to her wild nature, but now, Wang Sasa smiled every day, and even her plain face couldn’t hide her charming beauty.

Young boys’ affections are often based on looks. Under the encouragement of his roommates, Li Songbo came with a trial attitude. In other words, he might not have strong feelings for Wang Sasa.

“I…” Li Songbo was caught off guard by Wang Sasa’s knowledge of even such trivial gossip, feeling uneasy.

Wang Sasa admired his courage. Was he not afraid of his confession being rejected and then being beaten up by the original owner?

Wang Sasa was silent for a moment, then smiled faintly. “Have you really thought it through? Who do you actually like?” Such a fallback confession was quite annoying. Even though she didn’t like him, she had to keep smiling.

“Y-yes, sorry!” Seeing Wang Sasa’s clear and gentle gaze, which showed no sign of being offended but rather a genuine concern for him, Li Songbo felt a surge of guilt. He realized that his confession was more of a joke before, but now he was genuinely invested.

“Can we be friends first?” Li Songbo hesitated, glancing at the envelope in his hand and awkwardly rubbing his cheek. “I’ll take this letter back for now.”

Wang Sasa, like a caring older sister, smiled and said, “Of course.” Her gaze swept over the envelope, and she smiled lightly. “As for this letter, it’s your sentiment. I’ll keep it safe.”

“W-well then, please take care of it!” Li Songbo said, blushing, carefully handing the envelope over and mumbling, “Also, I really like you, but please don’t feel burdened!”

What burden could she have?

Wang Sasa raised an eyebrow and stole a glance at Zhang Yu, who was eavesdropping from a distance. The real burden was someone else.

Wang Sasa smiled more gently and, looking directly into Li Songbo’s eyes, said softly, “Thank you. I received your feelings. But I think we should focus on our studies since we are students. What do you think?”

The reason for rejection sounded oddly out of place coming from Wang Sasa’s mouth.

Li Songbo, naturally unconvinced, said dejectedly, “Is it because of Wei Qi? You… still like him?”

Wang Sasa, noticing Tan Yixuan from the corner of her eye, replied, “If you say so.”

Li Songbo left, disheartened, and Wang Sasa tossed her long hair back, smiling on the outside but feeling increasingly disdainful inside. Young boys’ affections were really so cheap.

“Is it interesting?” Tan Yixuan suddenly asked.

Wang Sasa’s hand paused in mid-air as she was brushing her hair. She instinctively touched her mouth, then, after a moment, pretended to be puzzled and asked, “What are you talking about? I don’t understand.”

Tan Yixuan said, “Wang Sasa, flattering others won’t make them like you. You’re just going to the other extreme.”

Wang Sasa raised her eyebrows, genuinely puzzled. “Flattering? Where did you see me flattering anyone? It’s clearly others flattering me!”

Tan Yixuan’s words seemed to have deeper meaning. Wang Sasa looked at her intently and suddenly moved closer.

Clear eyes, beautiful lips, and delicate features were now inches away.

Wang Sasa scrutinized Tan Yixuan’s expression thoughtfully. “Tan Yixuan… Could it be that you…”

Tan Yixuan tensed up at the sudden closeness, and hearing these words, her porcelain-like face flushed immediately. She looked down, unable to meet Wang Sasa’s eyes, biting her lip before murmuring, “Could it be what?” Her gaze finally fell on Wang Sasa’s face, her heart pounding so fast she thought it might jump out of her chest.

Wang Sasa crossed her arms, took a step back, and said confidently, “You’re jealous of me, aren’t you?”

Tan Yixuan: “…”
