“Youshan, what’s wrong? You look so down,” her best friend nudged Tian Youshan’s shoulder and joked, “How was your Saturday with Yu Xingwen?”
Mentioning that made Tian Youshan even more annoyed.
Yu Xingwen, who has always been so focused on romance that he now keeps talking about the new girl he added on WeChat, completely ignoring her, his childhood friend. To make things worse, her best friend didn’t know the situation and kept rubbing salt into her wounds.
She pouted and said, “Don’t bring it up. That guy’s got a bad habit, and…” She had also run into a crazy person. Thinking about Wei Qi’s angry face made her even angrier.
Her best friend was stunned, “Seriously? Is Yu Xingwen an idiot?” She muttered to herself, glancing at her friend’s delicate face, thinking it was strange that such a pretty girl chasing after him didn’t seem to move him.
Tian Youshan took out her phone and opened WeChat, suddenly noticing a friend request from an unfamiliar girl. Instinctively, she accepted it. Soon after, the other person warmly sent a greeting.
Wang Sasa was delighted to see her friend request finally accepted.
Tan Yixuan noticed this and asked nonchalantly, “Did something good happen? You look so happy.”
Wang Sasa touched her lips and said, “Do I?” Seeing Tan Yixuan looking at her expectantly, she continued, “Remember the two people we met at Universal Park?” She waved her phone, “Tian Youshan added me as a friend.”
Tan Yixuan pursed her lips and smiled, appearing unaffected.
Wang Sasa glanced at her and thought, in the original story, you accepted her, but unfortunately, the worlds were separated, and they couldn’t be friends. But now, Tan Yixuan was still alive. Wang Sasa believed that worldly happiness meant fulfilling relationships.
What constitutes fulfilling relationships?
It requires family, love, and friendship—none can be missing!
Family doesn’t need her to worry, and love is full of obstacles. As for friendship, it’s not exclusive. As long as she finds a well-rounded, cheerful, and optimistic friend, she’s good. She would have to return home eventually, so she needed someone to take her place.
Tian Youshan was the good friend she had in mind for Tan Yixuan.
“Yixuan, do you have time on Sunday? Let’s go out and have some fun together!”
Tan Yixuan, upon hearing Wang Sasa’s invitation, smiled and agreed, “Mm.”
Was this considered a date with Sasa? Tan Yixuan thought about the upcoming Sunday and spent the whole night tossing and turning, unable to sleep. She was torn between deciding what to wear and whether to put on makeup, feeling both sweet and troubled as she lay awake all night. The next day, when she arrived at the meeting place and saw two slender figures, she froze.
Wang Sasa was chatting with Tian Youshan, discovering that they had surprisingly much in common. Apart from reading books, they both loved shoujo manga and online novels. Unlike Wang Sasa’s peculiar tastes, Tian Youshan read traditional romance novels.
Wang Sasa was happily chatting when she suddenly felt a burning gaze. Turning her head, she saw Tan Yixuan looking over with a blank expression. Startled, she quickly apologized, “Sorry, I forgot to tell you I had made plans with Tian Youshan.” Seeing Tan Yixuan’s stern face, she whispered, “You’re not mad, are you?”
Tan Yixuan took a deep breath, paused, and sighed, “No, I’m not mad at you.” Her long eyelashes lowered, hiding her emotions. After a moment, she looked up and said, “You must be Tian Youshan, right? Sasa really likes you…”
Tian Youshan paused and looked at her carefully.
Was it her illusion, or did Tan Yixuan not seem very fond of her?
Seeing Tan Yixuan’s smile, Tian Youshan thought she might be overthinking. She smiled and said, “Is that so?” Reflecting on her minor grievances with Yu Xingwen, she felt she had been too petty and mentally apologized. She turned to Wang Sasa with a sincere smile, “Actually, I like Sasa quite a bit too.”
Tan Yixuan, upon hearing this, suddenly tightened her fingers by her side and then slowly relaxed. She smiled and said, “That’s good…”
After shopping at the mall, the three decided to have hotpot, with Wang Sasa drawing lots to choose the restaurant. Knowing that Tan Yixuan preferred mild flavors and couldn’t handle spicy food, Wang Sasa chose a split hotpot. Tian Youshan and she, however, loved spicy food.
During the meal, Tan Yixuan quietly enjoyed her mild broth while watching Wang Sasa and Tian Youshan enthusiastically devour the spicy hotpot.
As Wang Sasa made an effort to please Tian Youshan, she soon opened up, and they quickly became close.
“We got to know each other thanks to that guy Wei Qi…”
“Sasa, what’s your relationship with Wei Qi, exactly?”
Wang Sasa glanced quickly at Tan Yixuan and then slowly said, “I pursued him for a while when I was younger and didn’t understand much.” Wang Sasa had initially not wanted to discuss this, but since everyone at school knew about her pursuit of Wei Qi, there was no need to deceive Tian Youshan. “But now, I’ve turned over a new leaf… Besides, Wei Qi only has his looks.”
Worried that Tian Youshan might still have feelings for Wei Qi, Wang Sasa emphasized the issue of Wei Qi’s three-month girlfriend. Tian Youshan, hearing this, showed disgust, “What’s so good about him? So many girls like him!”
Tian Youshan suddenly thought of her childhood friend and looked at Wang Sasa, asking, “So… do you have someone you like now?” Realizing her question might be too forward, she quickly added, “… I mean, what kind of person do you like? For example, I like someone gentle and generous…”
Wang Sasa blinked and realized this was a good opportunity to learn about Tan Yixuan’s preferences. Acting nonchalant, she replied, “I also like someone gentle.” She then thought for a moment and deliberately described the opposite of Wei Qi, “Gentle and kind, committed to relationships, pure and cute, sometimes lively, sometimes composed. It would be great if they could make desserts…”
No, no, what are you even saying? It’s getting more and more awkward. Tian Youshan was becoming confused by her.
Tan Yixuan listened carefully and asked cautiously, “Is it enough if they can make desserts? Can you be more specific? About their appearance, behavior, personal interests, and so on?”
Tian Youshan found it hard to understand Tan Yixuan’s questions and thought her approach was quite strange.
Wang Sasa, oblivious, pondered, “Appearance? Behavior? As long as they look good to me, that’s fine. As for personal interests… it’s best if we have some common ground.” She stroked her chin thoughtfully, “Otherwise, we’d only end up discussing homework.” She then looked at Tan Yixuan and asked, “We’ve talked enough, Tan Yixuan, what kind of person do you like?”
Tan Yixuan pursed her lips, gazed at the creamy broth, and smiled, “She’s very good-looking and popular. She looks smart but is actually a bit silly. She puts her all into everything she does, striving for the best. Being influenced by her, I also need to work harder to stand by her…”
Wang Sasa thought deeply, and aside from a few mismatches, Tan Yixuan’s description perfectly fit Wei Qi’s profile! Seeing Tan Yixuan in a lovesick state, Wang Sasa felt a headache coming on. Love truly makes people see things through rose-colored glasses.
After Tan Yixuan finished speaking, her eyes darkened. She was determined to make more common topics with her! Summoning her courage, she reached for the spicy pot next to her.
Wang Sasa was troubled when she suddenly heard a heart-wrenching cough. Looking up, she saw Tan Yixuan coughing as if her lungs were about to jump out. Quickly pushing her thoughts aside, Wang Sasa rushed to her side, patted her back, and handed her a glass of water, asking, “Are you okay? You can’t handle spicy food, right? Don’t force yourself.”
Tan Yixuan caught her hand, slightly lifted her head, her pale face blushing with a hint of pink. After coughing once more, she quietly said, “I just wanted to give it a try.” She coughed again and smiled, “Don’t worry.”
After lunch, the three continued to shop for a while. Tian Youshan and Tan Yixuan went to the restroom, leaving Wang Sasa alone in the jewelry store to pick out accessories.
When Tian Youshan finished at the restroom and went to wash her hands, she noticed that Tan Yixuan was already at the sink, washing her hands. She found it a bit odd that Tan Yixuan’s actions were unusually quick.
Just before leaving, Tan Yixuan walked beside Tian Youshan and slightly turned her head, asking, “Tian Youshan, do you call her Sasa?”
Tian Youshan was taken aback and looked up, “I… I heard you call her that. Isn’t it her nickname?”
Tan Yixuan lowered her gaze and then quickly raised it, her tone revealing a hint of coldness, “No, it’s not.” Her dark eyes seemed to suppress something terrifying, “That’s a special nickname I gave her. Others shouldn’t use it.”
Tian Youshan’s face turned pale, and she stammered, “S-sorry, I didn’t know. Sasa… I mean, I’ll call her Shasha from now on!”
Tan Yixuan pressed her lips together and smiled with a gentle curve at the corners of her mouth, “Did I scare you? I was just joking. We’re all friends, and I’m not that petty. Whether you call her Sasa or Shasha, I have no objection.” She paused and added softly, “You won’t mention this small matter to her, right?”
Tian Youshan swallowed and quickly nodded, “No, I won’t bring it up. Don’t worry.”
Wang Sasa, bored and picking out jewelry, turned around when she saw Tan Yixuan and Tian Youshan returning. She raised a hairpin in her hand and said, “You’re back?”
Tian Youshan quickly glanced at Tan Yixuan and then hurriedly looked down at her feet, mumbling a soft “Mm.”
Wang Sasa noticed Tian Youshan’s low mood and asked, “What’s wrong? Are you tired?”
Tian Youshan opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but noticed Tan Yixuan staring at her with a blank expression, which made her nervous. She wasn’t even sure what she was afraid of.
After hesitating for a moment, she said goodbye to Wang Sasa, “It’s getting late. I should go home now.”
Wang Sasa looked at the time, noting it was only 1 p.m., and there was still plenty of time before dinner. She asked, “Do you have other plans this afternoon?”
