Tan Yixuan lowered her eyes and pressed her lips together.
Wang Sasa didn’t ask further, instead smiling as she took Tan Yixuan’s hand and led her back to the classroom.
After class, Tan Yixuan received a phone call from the hospital.
Seeing her put down the phone, Wang Sasa thought for a moment before asking, “Are they reminding you to pay the fees?”
Tan Yixuan nodded and lowered her gaze to her textbook, not wanting to dwell on the subject as she thought of her family’s savings.
Wang Sasa, noticing her frown and silence, knew what was bothering her. She brought up an old topic again, “Tan Yixuan, how about you tutor us? We’ll pay you two-thirds of the market rate for tutoring fees. What do you think?”
Tan Yixuan suddenly looked up, staring at her in a daze, somewhat puzzled. “Us?”
Wang Sasa touched her lips with a serious expression and said, “Of course. I don’t need tutoring, but my four lackeys are all academic failures. How embarrassing is it for me to bring them out in public? And don’t even suggest I tutor them myself—I don’t have the patience for that!”
Saying this, she picked up her phone and opened the image of their test scores from the bulletin board, reciting them one by one, “Look, these are their latest math exam scores. Chai Kejia: 120 points, not bad. Zhou Yufei: 140 points, still room for improvement. Ji Yiran: 100 points? Is her score really that low? She definitely needs tutoring! And Zhou Yunlu, 59 points!”
At this, Wang Sasa looked incredulous, “59 points! Tan Yixuan, did you see that? Zhou Yunlu actually scored 59 points!”
Tan Yixuan glanced at the scores without much comment.
Meanwhile, Zhou Yunlu, who was seated at another group, suddenly heard her name and quickly responded in a loud voice, “Boss! Do you need something?”
Wang Sasa opened her mouth to shout back but then thought better of it, coughing lightly as she beckoned Zhou Yunlu over. She didn’t want to be yelling back and forth with her in the classroom—it would look too foolish.
Summoned by Wang Sasa, Zhou Yunlu hurried over, ingratiatingly asking, “Boss, what’s up?”
Pointing at her score, Wang Sasa asked in a grave tone, “Is this your math exam score?”
Scratching the back of her head, Zhou Yunlu didn’t quite understand where this was going, so she responded with a confused expression, “Uh… yes. Is there a problem?”
“You’re asking me if there’s a problem?” Wang Sasa frowned and glared at her. “This is the biggest problem!” She pointed at her score with a sharp tap. “As my little sister, having such poor grades—how am I supposed to take you out in public?”
Zhou Yunlu felt a little aggrieved. Since when did being a delinquent have such high standards? There were academic requirements now?
“But… but fighting doesn’t require good grades…”
Wang Sasa retorted, “You’re oversimplifying things. If your language skills are poor, how will you come up with insults when you need to curse someone out? If your math is bad, how will you know the optimal force and angle to incapacitate your opponent without seriously injuring them? Also…”
Zhou Yunlu looked confused, feeling that what the boss said was wrong but not knowing how to refute it.
After Wang Sasa finished her long speech, she finally patted Zhou Yunlu’s shoulder with a determined tone and said, “So, we’re going to have extra classes.”
Zhou Yunlu nodded instinctively but suddenly realized something was off. She exclaimed in surprise, looking alarmed.
Extra classes? The boss is going to tutor her? Zhou Yunlu thought Wang Sasa must be joking, but it turned out she was serious.
On Saturday, Zhou Yunlu, who had been dragged to the apartment by their boss and was now buried in books and assignments with her companions, twitched her lips.
Her sister Zhou Yufei comforted her, “Don’t worry. Your grades are the worst, so it’ll be easy for you to improve. I estimate raising your score by 20 or 30 points shouldn’t be a problem.”
Zhou Yunlu: “…”
Ji Yiran stammered, “D-do I need extra classes too? Who will be tutoring us?”
Chai Kejia pondered for a moment, resting her chin on her hand, and smiled, “I heard it’s going to be Tan Yixuan who tutors us.”
Upon hearing this name, the other three were taken aback.
They remembered that at the beginning of the semester, Wang Sasa had led the bullying of Tan Yixuan. In just one semester, Wang Sasa’s attitude towards Tan Yixuan had completely changed.
Chai Kejia, who thought she knew Wang Sasa the best, found herself increasingly unable to understand Wang Sasa’s recent actions.
Glancing over, she saw their boss smiling and flipping through something. She frowned slightly, unable to grasp Wang Sasa’s intentions, which made her a bit restless.
She felt like something was slipping out of her control.
Zhou Yufei glanced at Chai Kejia and suddenly grinned, “Do you guys know the latest news?”
Seeing that she had drawn the attention of the three, Zhou Yufei smiled and said, “I heard that Wei Qi has been sending Tan Yixuan love letters for a week!”
Chai Kejia pulled at the corner of her mouth and lowered her eyes, “Really? I don’t think Tan Yixuan seems to like Wei Qi, so…”
Zhou Yufei chimed in, “So now it’s a love triangle. Our boss’s romance is really full of twists and turns!”
Chai Kejia’s eyes flickered, but she only smiled without saying anything.
Wang Sasa received a call from Tan Yixuan, who was arriving soon, so she quickly went to the entrance.
Outside, Tan Yixuan awkwardly adjusted her light blue, thin gauze dress and rang the doorbell.
As soon as the doorbell rang, the door was opened, and Wang Sasa popped her head out, smiling as she took the books from Tan Yixuan and led her into the living room.
As they walked, Wang Sasa said, “Don’t be nervous. Just teach according to your understanding. And even if their grades don’t improve, you don’t need to feel burdened. After all, if they don’t do well, it’s their own fault for being slow-witted.”
Tan Yixuan glanced at her, feeling both grateful and amused.
Before she came, Wang Sasa had insisted that their grades were so bad that she couldn’t face people, and had begged Tan Yixuan to improve their scores no matter what. Now that she was here, Wang Sasa was no longer demanding good results, which seemed contradictory.
However, Tan Yixuan smiled gently and looked at her with warmth.
She knew Wang Sasa wanted to help her, which was why she arranged for paid tutoring.
Wang Sasa took her hand and said, “You’ve received the payment for the tutoring, right? I’ve given you the amount for a week. You don’t need to collect money from each of them individually; I’ll handle that.”
Tan Yixuan nodded and replied seriously, “Since I’ve received their money, I won’t just go through the motions.”
Wang Sasa wanted to tell her that she didn’t need to be so serious, but then thought that if being serious would reduce her psychological burden, then why not let her be earnest? So she smiled and didn’t persuade her further.
Tan Yixuan, though not top of her class, was still among the best in her grade. Tutoring a few underperformers was more than manageable. After a whole day of tutoring, not only did the four lackeys have headaches, but even Wang Sasa herself felt mentally exhausted and took some time to relax with a shoujo manga.
After the day of tutoring, as the lackeys gradually went home, Wang Sasa intended to invite Tan Yixuan for dinner. However, Tan Yixuan declined, saying she needed to prepare for the next lesson. It was clear that Tan Yixuan was still quite nervous about her first tutoring session.
Wang Sasa smiled, watched her leave, and then returned to her study. Seeing the brown notepad on the desk, she suddenly froze. Isn’t this Tan Yixuan’s diary? How did it end up here? She took out her phone to call Tan Yixuan but suddenly wondered what if Tan Yixuan suspected her of reading her diary?
With the thought of avoiding trouble, she decided to check it again the next day and return it.
On Sunday, Zhou Yunlu, who had suffered all day, used the excuse of having something to do and didn’t show up. Wang Sasa, whose real goal wasn’t just to improve their grades, naturally didn’t press the issue.
Zhou Yunlu took a leave of absence, and naturally, her sister Zhou Yufei also took a leave. So only Chai Kejia and Ji Yiran remained.
Chai Kejia arrived first. Seeing that Wang Sasa was still having breakfast, she went to the study to read. Later, Ji Yiran and Tan Yixuan arrived.
Wang Sasa saw Tan Yixuan entering with a stack of thick reference books and said, “Zhou Yunlu and the others are on leave, but I’ll still count today’s tutoring fee for you.”
Tan Yixuan set down her backpack and the books on the desk, frowning as she said, “That’s not right. Since they’re not coming, today’s tutoring fee shouldn’t count.”
Wang Sasa was taken aback by her insistence and paused before calling Zhou Yunlu and her sister’s numbers on her phone, “Tan Yixuan says you can’t take leave, so hurry over.”
She had forgotten that Tan Yixuan was so stubborn. Since that’s the case, she could only apologize to Zhou Yunlu and the others.
Tan Yixuan: She didn’t mean it like that!
Zhou Yunlu and her sister arrived with long faces, and the group spent a grueling day in class, returning home with gloomy expressions.
Wang Sasa, seeing the increasingly serious learning atmosphere, smiled with satisfaction. Noticing Tan Yixuan organizing her diary, she suddenly remembered something and quickly sneakily ran to the other side of the desk, putting the diary back into Tan Yixuan’s bag.
After finishing everything without anyone noticing, she clapped her hands and sighed in relief. Meanwhile, Tan Yixuan remained completely unaware.
On Sunday evening, it was almost time to return to school.
Wang Sasa packed her belongings and returned to school with Tan Yixuan.
When Tan Yixuan returned to the classroom and opened her bag to put away her books, she paused slightly as she flipped through her textbook. She frowned and stared at something thoughtfully. Had her diary been tampered with? Suddenly, she felt a burning gaze and looked up quickly, but couldn’t find the source.
Who could have touched her diary?
Chai Kejia, who was staring at her desk, had her heart racing.
When Tan Yixuan turned her head earlier, Chai Kejia’s heart nearly jumped out of her chest.
Tan Yixuan hadn’t seen her, had she? Chai Kejia hesitated, recalling the diary she had unintentionally photographed earlier at Wang Sasa’s house. She was unsettled and couldn’t calm down.
Could Tan Yixuan really have such feelings for Wang Sasa?
Although the diary didn’t name anyone specifically, it used the term “Sasa,” which everyone knew referred to Wang Sasa!
Chai Kejia felt both shocked and bewildered.
It seemed that Tan Yixuan might be a masochist with Stockholm Syndrome.
Otherwise, how could she have developed feelings for Wang Sasa?
With that thought, Chai Kejia couldn’t help but pull out her phone and review the pages she had unintentionally captured earlier.
The realization of Tan Yixuan’s feelings for Wang Sasa stirred something within her.
