The three people present were quite shocked to see Wang Sasa.
Especially Yu Xiaowen, who had just been bad-mouthing Wang Sasa a moment ago. Her expression was one of utter embarrassment. She hadn’t expected to be caught red-handed by Wang Sasa, who even took video of the incident with her phone.
Wei Qi’s gaze shifted back and forth between Wang Sasa and Tan Yixuan. Clearly displeased, he furrowed his brows, apparently lost in thought. Wang Sasa quickly figured out what Wei Qi was thinking but didn’t have the time to concern herself with this small-time thug’s opinions. To Wang Sasa, someone who spends every day causing trouble with a few lackeys is just a small-time thug.
As for Tan Yixuan, she remained as impassive as ever, her emotions unreadable.
Despite the strange looks from the three, Wang Sasa remained unperturbed. She waved her phone in front of them, then ran her fingers through her long hair, tilting her head and smiling. She repeated, “I said, don’t you want to take a look?”
Wei Qi was stunned for a moment before he angrily responded, “Wang Sasa, what trouble have you caused now?” After a pause, he continued, “I’m begging you, can’t you stop bothering me? How many times do I have to tell you before you understand that I’ve only ever seen you as a sister? Your repeated trouble-making with Xiaowen only makes me more and more disgusted with you!”
Yu Xiaowen bit her lip, her big, watery eyes fixed on Wang Sasa, her voice soft and weak: “I’m sorry. I promised I wouldn’t bother Senior Wei Qi again, but I…”
Wang Sasa couldn’t help but admire how these two seemed to revolve around themselves, performing in sync. Once upon a time, she, Wang Sasa, had been seen as a goddess and an unattainable flower in the eyes of boys. Yet here she was, being publicly criticized. For anyone narcissistic, it’s hard to bear seeing someone even more narcissistic than her..
Wang Sasa couldn’t hold back her temper any longer and sneered, “Wei Qi, don’t think too highly of yourself. I’ve disliked you for a long time.” She paused, glanced at him disdainfully as if looking at trash, and continued coldly, “First, you’re not good-looking. Second, your academic performance is terrible. Third, your temper is awful. I’m so beautiful, why would I like you? Do you have any self-awareness?”
Tan Yixuan, hearing this, glanced sideways at Wang Sasa. It seemed to her that the lack of self-awareness was clearly someone else.
Wei Qi was enraged. This was the first time Wang Sasa had spoken to him so rudely. In the past, Wang Sasa, far from criticizing him, was practically a sycophant. The original owner had only ever directed their venom towards others, treating Wei Qi with nothing but gentle care and no boundaries.
Seeing Wei Qi’s face turn red with anger made Wang Sasa feel quite pleased. After venting her frustration, she got to the point: “Forget it, I’m magnanimous, so I won’t hold it against you. But Yu Xiaowen, don’t you think you should explain what just happened?” She waved the phone in her hand again.
Tan Yixuan didn’t know what Wang Sasa was up to, but she suspected it might involve playing a video to make her explain. However, since Wang Sasa wasn’t that type of person, Tan Yixuan nonchalantly brushed off Wei Qi’s hand that had grabbed her arm and started to leave.
As Wang Sasa passed by Tan Yixuan, she grabbed her and whispered in her ear, “Do you want to see the show?”
Tan Yixuan couldn’t help but turn to look at her, her beautiful face showing a hint of confusion and curiosity, but mostly cold indifference.
Wang Sasa ignored her attitude and began to play the video in front of everyone.
Smiling, she said, “My phone is the latest model, and even from a distance, it captures everything in detail. And the audio quality is pretty good…”
“Wang Sasa!” A voice suddenly interrupted Wang Sasa’s words.
Wang Sasa paused, raised an eyebrow, and pretended not to understand, “Is there something wrong, junior sister?”
Yu Xiaowen, with a forced smile, said, “There’s no need for this.”
Wang Sasa blinked and smiled, “What are you talking about? ‘No need’? I don’t understand!”
Yu Xiaowen, nearly overwhelmed with anger, took a deep breath to control her rising fury and said, “I fell by myself; it has nothing to do with Tan Yixuan.”
Wei Qi frowned at Wang Sasa and then focused on Yu Xiaowen, saying, “Don’t be afraid, I’m here.”
Wang Sasa rolled her eyes at him. Although she disliked Yu Xiaowen, he still liked to play the hero.
Wang Sasa wasn’t buying into this and shrugged, “You seem to have fallen pretty badly. Shouldn’t we go to the infirmary? And let’s watch the video together.”
Yu Xiaowen’s gaze was fixed on the phone screen. Gritting her teeth, she stood up, saying, “I’m fine, no need.”
Wang Sasa crossed her arms, tilted her chin, and glanced at Yu Xiaowen’s legs. “Really? Do you want to walk a few more steps or jump a bit? If you did break a leg, pretending to be fine could delay treatment!” Despite her words of concern, her tone was one of schadenfreude.
“I said I’m fine!” Yu Xiaowen, provoked by Wang Sasa’s repeated taunts, struggled to control her anger. It was evident she was lying about her injury, but it didn’t prove she had framed Tan Yixuan. After a moment of thought, Yu Xiaowen forced a smile and turned to Tan Yixuan, apologizing, “I think I misunderstood you. I fell by myself, and it has nothing to do with you.”
Wei Qi, though momentarily puzzled, trusted his girlfriend more than anyone else. Since Yu Xiaowen said it wasn’t Tan Yixuan’s fault, he let it go. He gave Tan Yixuan a long look and, holding Yu Xiaowen’s hand, prepared to leave.
Wang Sasa wasn’t going to let them off easily. Seeing them about to leave, she slowly said, “If you don’t want to see the video, I can post it on the school’s forum and invite the students and teachers from Second High School to watch.”
Yu Xiaowen, disregarding Wei Qi’s presence, turned around and glared at Wang Sasa, furious. “What exactly do you want?”
If Wang Sasa posted the video, Yu Xiaowen would be completely finished. Ignoring the possibility of arousing Wei Qi’s suspicion, she stepped closer to Wang Sasa and whispered through gritted teeth, “What do you want?”
Wang Sasa narrowed her eyes and smiled, “Nothing much. I just want your apology to be more sincere.”
Yu Xiaowen took a few deep breaths and finally managed to squeeze out, “I’m sorry.”
“So quiet. Who can hear you?” Wang Sasa crossed her arms and scrutinized her, dissatisfied. “And what’s the context? Why are you apologizing, and to whom?”
Yu Xiaowen had no choice but to realize that Wang Sasa wouldn’t let her go without an apology. She said loudly, “Tan Yixuan, Wang Sasa, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have misunderstood you. You didn’t cause me any trouble…” Her face flushed red, and after shouting this, she added, “Is this enough? What do you need for me to agree to delete the video?”
Wang Sasa didn’t respond but turned to look at Tan Yixuan and smiled, “Do you accept her apology?”
Tan Yixuan, who had been a bit dazed since Yu Xiaowen’s apology, didn’t expect Wang Sasa to really be teaching Yu Xiaowen a lesson. Her face briefly showed a complicated expression, and her anger towards Yu Xiaowen lessened. After a pause, she quietly said, “It’s okay, I’ll go back now.”
Wang Sasa didn’t say she accepted the apology, but she knew what Tan Yixuan meant and shrugged in resignation.
“Alright, we accept your apology. As for the video, don’t worry; if you don’t make me angry, I won’t post it.”
As the saying goes, “Strike at the vital point.” With someone like Yu Xiaowen, if she wasn’t kept in check, she’d likely continue causing trouble. Thus, the video had to remain. Moreover, Wang Sasa took a few steps closer to Yu Xiaowen and whispered, “And don’t even think about stealing my phone to delete the video. Nowadays, phones are all connected online, you know?”
Yu Xiaowen clenched her teeth upon hearing this, feeling both hatred and fear towards Wang Sasa. But now, she was completely deterred from causing any more trouble.
After resolving the matter, Wang Sasa followed Tan Yixuan back to the classroom.
Tan Yixuan sat down to read, initially focused on her book. However, she couldn’t ignore the intense gaze from beside her. She tolerated it for a while, thinking Wang Sasa would eventually lose interest, but to her surprise, Wang Sasa propped her chin on her hand and stared at her for a full ten minutes. With only five minutes left before class started, Tan Yixuan couldn’t endure it any longer and warned her, “Stop staring at me.”
Wang Sasa smiled sweetly, her eyes curving into a smile. Since they were deskmates, Tan Yixuan could clearly see the smile at the corners of her lips. Tan Yixuan felt an odd emotion rise within her. Had Wang Sasa always smiled like this? She thought she might be going crazy, feeling that this person seemed somewhat attractive. She tried to recall Wang Sasa’s unpleasant past expressions to suppress the strange feeling.
Wang Sasa was unaware of Tan Yixuan’s internal struggle. She smiled even more gently, her voice soft and soothing, “Look, I’ve stood up for you today, so don’t be angry with me, okay?” As she spoke, she tapped the desk with her index and middle fingers and slowly, tentatively, reached out to touch Tan Yixuan’s fingers resting on the desk.
Tan Yixuan felt the warmth of Wang Sasa’s fingers, and the odd feeling in her heart arose again. Unable to help herself, she turned her head, frowning as she stared at her. Wang Sasa quickly withdrew her fingers and casually took out a mirror to fix her hairstyle. The original owner had good taste, with a stylist managing her hair and makeup. However, the red lips and chestnut curls were too mature and didn’t suit her student identity. She needed to find an opportunity to change her look.
Tan Yixuan stared at her own fingertips for a while, noticing out of the corner of her eye that Wang Sasa was admiring herself in the mirror—this was probably the umpteenth time this month. Nearly every break between classes, Wang Sasa would use the mirror to admire her “beauty.”
Tan Yixuan frowned in thought. She didn’t know what had happened to Wang Sasa, but now she didn’t seem so annoying anymore.
