The White Moonlight Is Quitting! Chapter 30

Chapter 30: Truly Worthy of Being His Sister

Mu Ruo woke up at 3 a.m., and she was awakened by the cold.

There was no helping it; the rich family’s house was like an ice cellar in the summer.

Perhaps Fu Jianzhi, the man in question, was simply someone who preferred the cold and couldn’t survive in warmth.

Shivering, Mu Ruo hugged her shoulders and realized she was wearing Fu Jianzhi’s suit jacket.

The man’s clothes were all custom-made with exquisite craftsmanship and very expensive fabric.

There was also a faint hint of men’s cologne on it, which smelled very refined and pleasant, much like the overall impression Fu Jianzhi gave her.

Mu Ruo knew without thinking that the only reason for this was that the big shot was being kind, afraid she might freeze to death, and threw the jacket over her.

Unfortunately, a jacket alone couldn’t ward off the cold.

Wrapped in his jacket, Mu Ruo went upstairs, groggily opened the door to the room, and plunged into bed, continuing to sleep soundly.

Fu Jianzhi sat up beside her.

He had always had trouble sleeping and was still struggling to fall asleep at this hour.

Fortunately, he had trouble sleeping; otherwise, waking up to find a woman in his bed the next morning might have led him to strangle her.

For some reason, seeing Mu Ruo sleeping so soundly beside him made him suddenly feel sleepy.

Just like that day at the Fu family’s old residence, sleeping in the same room with Mu Ruo made it one of the earliest times Fu Jianzhi had gone to bed in years.

Fu Jianzhi’s gaze darkened, and he lay back down in his original position.

Morning.

The curtains blocked out all the sunlight from outside, and Mu Ruo finally woke up according to her biological clock.

She stretched, hugging the black quilt, and rolled over.

…Wait a minute.

Black quilt?

Mu Ruo remembered that her quilt was white.

She looked down and confirmed it was indeed a pure black quilt made of cool silk.

Looking at the room’s decor and furnishings, with its dark, minimalist style, it was clearly a man’s place.

Mu Ruo’s room was very close to Fu Jianzhi’s room. It dawned on her that she must have mistakenly entered the wrong room last night while groggy.

It seemed that Fu Jianzhi hadn’t slept there the night before.

Mu Ruo sneakily escaped from his bedroom and hurried back to her own.

If the big shot misunderstood her as sneaking into his bed in the middle of the night, she wouldn’t see her twenty million next month.

Mu Ruo took a shower, changed clothes, and went downstairs, her mind preoccupied with what to have for breakfast.

When she reached the kitchen, she was surprised to find Fu Jianzhi preparing breakfast.

The man, with his broad shoulders and long legs, wore a simple white shirt that looked quite refined on him, exuding a calm and composed aura.

He had toasted some bread, fried an egg with a sprinkle of spices, and paired it with roasted tomatoes and lettuce. Though simple, it was very appetizing.

Mu Ruo watched secretly from the side and said, “Mr. Fu, I didn’t know you could cook.”

Fu Jianzhi replied calmly, “I lived alone while studying abroad and learned to cook.”

He didn’t finish his breakfast before the company called, indicating something important needed his attention.

Mu Ruo, having had breakfast and feeling a bit drowsy, sat on the sofa, immersed in the script and character analysis, until Zhou Jian’s call came through.

“Ruo Ruo,” Zhou Jian said, “Xiaoyue asked me to arrange a job for her distant cousin. He doesn’t have much education. What do you think I should arrange for him?”

Mu Ruo, who had just gotten her focus back, replied, “Distant cousin?”

Zeng Xiaoyue was the girl Zhou Jian was currently pursuing. Mu Ruo remembered this name from reading the novel, and Zhou Jian’s mention of it reminded her.

“Yes, she said they’re from the same place,” Zhou Jian sighed. “Xiaoyue is both strong and pitiable; it’s not easy for her to get by in the big city. She said her cousin is a really nice guy, but he has bad luck. He was laid off from his last job and had to turn to food delivery, but it’s too hard.”

Mu Ruo’s sense of caution was immediately triggered.

Could this so-called “distant cousin” be the bodyguard she was having an affair with in the original text?

Mu Ruo asked, “What’s her cousin’s name? Zhou Jian, you should investigate first. It’s not that easy to arrange a job.”

“His name is Wu Shuoliang,” Zhou Jian thought for a moment and said. “We don’t have a suitable position for him in our company; all our roles require technical skills and education, and he doesn’t have any. If I offer him a security guard position or something similar, I’m afraid Xiaoyue might think I’m looking down on him.”

Wu Shuoliang… indeed seemed to be Zeng Xiaoyue’s lover.

Many readers of the original text referred to them as the “Liangxia” couple, saying their love was tormented by bullies, and it was especially hard for them to be together.

Mu Ruo was a bit annoyed. “What are you planning to do?”

“I’m thinking of hiring him as my bodyguard. I’m actually short on one,” Zhou Jian said. “I’ll offer him a salary of thirty thousand a month. What do you think, Ruo Ruo?”

Mu Ruo replied, “Aren’t you afraid he might not actually be Xiaoyue’s cousin? What if he’s actually her lover—”

“Ruo Ruo, what are you talking about?” Zhou Jian seemed a bit angry. “Xiaoyue is a very good girl. She wouldn’t lie!”

Mu Ruo: “……”

Indeed, when someone is in love, they can become quite irrational, regardless of gender.

Zhou Jian was very clear-headed when dealing with Lu Beichen and Xia Wanwan, seeing through their true colors. Yet, when it came to his own situation, he immediately lost his clarity and couldn’t think straight.

Considering that Zhou Jian had defended her in front of Lu Beichen and Xia Wanwan, Mu Ruo decided to swallow her irritation. “Zhou Jian, listen to me. The more you like her, the less you should make such a simple arrangement… Being a bodyguard has no future. For Xiaoyue’s sake, you should advise her to have her cousin go back to school. Help him apply for a student loan and find a job after further education.”

Zhou Jian thought about it and agreed with Mu Ruo’s advice.

“You’re right, Ruo Ruo.” Zhou Jian was pleased. “Xiaoyue is a good girl, and she’ll definitely be happy if her cousin goes back to school. I might as well directly sponsor him rather than deal with the loan process. It’s too troublesome.”

“No,” Mu Ruo continued to persuade. “If you just give him money, he might think you’re looking down on him.”

Zhou Jian increasingly felt that Mu Ruo’s advice was sensible.

Truly worthy of being his elder sister.

“Xiaoyue said she wants to have dinner with me tonight,” Zhou Jian hesitated. “I don’t know how to interact with girls. Ruo Ruo, could you come along? You two could talk, and Xiaoyue is different from Xia Wanwan. She’s really a good girl.”

Mu Ruo considered it and said, “Alright.”

She had nothing planned for today and wanted to get some fresh air anyway.

The original book’s villainous trio had a truly tragic ending.

Since she could start saving people from the source, she had to do it.
