The White Moonlight Is Quitting! Chapter 39

Chapter 39: The Luck is Still Ahead

At the beginning of each month, Mu Kui’s attitude towards Mu Ruo was especially soft.

Mu Ruo, with a cold expression, listened to her call her “sister” on the phone for a long time.

Mu Ruo listened to her nonsense.

After much roundabout talking, Mu Kui asked, “Sister, do you have money now? I want to buy something. Can you lend me five million?”

Mu Ruo: “Don’t call me ‘sister’; we don’t share the same mother.”

Mu Kui was silent for a moment: “What’s wrong with you?”

“Nothing,” Mu Ruo replied expressionlessly. “I don’t want to be an ATM anymore. How much did you borrow from me before? Pay it back.”

Mu Kui, frustrated, said, “Do you think you could marry Fu Jianzhi just by yourself? It’s because our family worked hard to raise you. If it weren’t for you, I’d be the one marrying Fu Jianzhi.”

“Wrong,” Mu Ruo replied with a light laugh. “I married Fu Jianzhi because I am beautiful, intelligent, clever, brave, kind, and cute. It has nothing to do with you. Fu Jianzhi must have accumulated eight lifetimes of good fortune to marry me.”

Mu Kui, unable to tolerate it any longer, hung up the phone.

For some reason, Mu Ruo felt a chill behind her.

She slowly turned around and saw Fu Jianzhi staring at her coldly.

Mu Ruo: “Uh, Mr. Fu, are you off work?”

Fu Jianzhi’s tone was icy: “Yes.”

Mu Ruo’s heart sank: “When did you come in?”

“When you were praising yourself for being beautiful, smart, clever, brave, kind, and cute,” Fu Jianzhi glanced at her, “Turns out, I’ve accumulated eight lifetimes of good fortune just to marry you.”

Mu Ruo’s legs went weak, fearing his next words would be “the twenty million for next month is gone.”

Mu Ruo: “No, no, no, marrying you is my good fortune.”

She was sincere.

Aside from Fu Jianzhi, she couldn’t find another boss so wealthy.

She wanted to continue enjoying this kind of fortune.

Fu Jianzhi looked upstairs.

Mu Ruo understood, holding her pillow, and headed upstairs: “I’ll go warm the bed for the big boss. If you need me as a drinking companion, call me anytime. For acquaintances, there’s a 50% discount.”

Saying that, Mu Ruo trotted upstairs to Fu Jianzhi’s room, continuing her role as his sleeping companion.

Fu Jianzhi watched her retreating figure thoughtfully.

Butler Li remained silent.

Fu Jianzhi: “Marrying her used up all my good fortune?”

Butler Li quickly flattered: “Absolutely not, your good fortune is still ahead.”

Mu Ruo soon received a notice from the director, who hoped she could undergo two months of training before joining the cast.

Although Mu Ruo’s audition impressed the director, she was still a newcomer.

The film was a major production, and the director’s team had hired specialized trainers.

Since Mu Ruo’s princess role involved a dance scene, she needed to train for a period.

Mu Ruo had no objections to this.

However, she would need to stay at a hotel during the training and wouldn’t be able to return for a while.

Thinking about all these complicated matters, Mu Ruo unconsciously fell asleep on the pillow.

When Fu Jianzhi came in from outside, he saw Mu Ruo sprawled on his pillow.

She was wearing a champagne-colored silk nightgown with a matching short robe. The robe was so loose and the silk so smooth that it draped languidly.

Her dark hair fell across the robe, partially hiding her, adding a touch of allure.

Fu Jianzhi felt inexplicably dissatisfied.

Suddenly, Mu Ruo’s phone rang. Frowning, she answered: “Hmm?”

Mu Father’s voice was serious and accusatory: “Kui Kui is your sister. How could you make her cry?”

Mu Ruo was a bit groggy from sleep and didn’t immediately realize that the person on the phone was her estranged father.

Mu Father had always disliked Mu Ruo.

Mu Ruo’s mother was proud and indifferent, never giving him any respect. Though beautiful, she was a cold and unfeeling trophy wife, incapable of providing the dignity a man desires.

It was only when he met Yao Wanzhen that Mu Father understood what true love was.

His daughter Mu Kui, born from true love, was the obedient daughter he truly cherished.

Mu Ruo had always resembled her mother closely, with a pure and delicate appearance that was very beautiful but turned out to be cold and unapproachable.

Thus, from the beginning, he didn’t want custody of Mu Ruo.

However, since Mu Ruo’s mother didn’t want her either and left her to go abroad, Mu Father was left with no choice but to let Yao Wanzhen raise her.

Even though Yao Wanzhen appeared to be a good stepmother, she was harsh on Mu Ruo privately, and Mu Father turned a blind eye.

Fortunately, Mu Ruo had a conscience. She knew she was raised by the Mu family and listened to him and Yao Wanzhen from a young age.

Even if Mu Kui got the meat and Mu Ruo was given only a bone, Mu Ruo was still grateful and felt that her parents loved her.

Over the years, Mu Ruo did whatever the family asked her to do. She excelled in her studies and was outstanding in every way.

The only downside was that she took the man Mu Kui liked and married a super-rich man like Fu Jianzhi.

From childhood to adulthood, whatever Mu Kui liked, Mu Ruo, as the elder sister, had to give way.

Since Fu Jianzhi didn’t like Mu Kui and couldn’t marry her, Mu Ruo had to use the money Fu Jianzhi provided to support Mu Kui.

Mu Father, gritting his teeth, scolded her: “All those years of education and you’ve learned nothing? Kui Kui is your real sister. How could you speak to her like that? If it weren’t for you, Kui Kui would be marrying Fu Jianzhi. What are you so proud of?”

Mu Ruo was stunned.

Mu Father continued: “The family’s situation isn’t good recently. Transfer all your money to Kui Kui. If you do well, your parents will still like you.”

Mu Ruo frowned: “Why are you barking like a dog in the middle of the night? Are you crazy?”

Now Mu Father was the one who was stunned.

Mu Ruo, having not slept well and feeling irritable, said coldly with the gentlest voice: “Do you think I care about your liking? Even if no one in the world likes me, I’ll be fine.”

Fu Jianzhi, arms crossed, looked at the frail girl in front of him with cold eyes.

She said, word by word: “I only treat those who are worth it well. You don’t deserve it.”

After saying this, Mu Ruo hung up the phone.

Then she saw Fu Jianzhi standing at the door.

Mu Ruo choked up: “Do all you capitalists like eavesdropping on people’s calls?”

Fu Jianzhi replied with a smile: “This is my home, my room. It’s only natural that I hear what I hear.”

Mu Ruo cursed him silently.

Fu Jianzhi’s expression turned colder: “Is the person worth treating well in your eyes Lu Beichen?”

Mu Ruo: “???”

Mu Ruo really didn’t want to insult her own judgment.

But she didn’t want to lose the twenty million for next month either, so she reluctantly nodded.

In Fu Jianzhi’s eyes, it looked like Mu Ruo was seriously acknowledging this fact.
