The Whole Entertainment Industry Thought I Was an Alpha Chapter 59

Chapter 59

The Omega’s voice was urgent, eyes glued to the Alpha, like a kitten that couldn’t help but rub against his ankle, letting out soft, needy whimpers.

The tall Alpha stepped toward him, his sharp features resolute. Kneeling on one knee on the bed, he loosely embraced the Omega’s body. Feeling the slight tremble in his arms, he said, “Don’t be afraid.”

Lin Si still wanted to turn away, but Lu Wei held him in place.

“I’m afraid you won’t have anything to hold onto if it hurts.” Lu Wei lightly patted his back. “If it’s too painful, just grab me.”

He nuzzled his chin against the crook of Lin Si’s neck, offering the gentlest comfort.

“It’ll be over soon.”

As he spoke, Lu Wei sank his teeth into Lin Si’s gland, his arms tightening around the Omega’s shoulders and back just as he heard the choked, pained sound escape Lin Si’s lips.

The pain burst from his gland like an explosion. But in the next moment, along with the pain, a wave of satisfaction surged through every cell of his body—like oxygen carried from his heart’s chambers, spreading bliss to every inch of his bloodstream.

Lin Si truly had nothing to hold onto. In the end, he clutched Lu Yan’s wrist, clumsily burying his face in Lu Wei’s shoulder, sobbing softly.

For a moment, it was hard to tell whether it was from pain or something else.

After a while, Lu Wei gently kissed the wound on Lin Si’s gland, soothing all emotions, and withdrew his hand from pressing against Lin Si’s butterfly bones.

“It’s okay now,” Lu Wei said. “The mark is complete.”

As he prepared to let go, Lin Si didn’t move, his arms still wrapped around Lu Wei’s waist. He nuzzled his neck against him, drowsy and reluctant, clinging to his warmth.

Lin Si seemed on the verge of sleep but would occasionally shift his arm, clearly unwilling to let Lu Wei leave.

“Baby,” Lu Wei called softly.

Lin Si lifted his head reluctantly, his eyes red-rimmed, misted with a glossy sheen, innocent and dazed.

Lu Wei had no choice but to kiss the back of his neck again before carefully adjusting the position of something that wasn’t quite right. Then, he got up, grabbed a healing patch from the bedside, and gently applied it over Lin Si’s gland before pulling away. “Sleep. I’m going to take a shower.”

Lin Si suddenly grabbed his wrist.

Lu Wei, who had been holding onto his composure, let out a low, restrained grunt.

Lin Si’s palm was burning. Hearing the dangerous edge in Lu Wei’s voice, he wasn’t scared—just leaned back slightly, looking down in a daze before blurting out, “You’re so big.”

The next second, his entire world flipped. The open space beside the bed vanished, replaced only by Lu Wei’s face.

He was forced to tilt his head back, his breathing erratic. The scent of wisteria from the pillow, the Alpha’s pheromones at the tip of his nose, the faint medicinal scent from the healing patch—all mixed together, filling the room with a heady, dizzying atmosphere.

Lu Wei’s hot breath ghosted over his skin, almost consuming him. Lin Si’s wide eyes stared at him, not daring to breathe too loudly, not daring to provoke him.

Lu Wei’s gaze was intense, almost predatory. They stared at each other for a long moment before he finally released Lin Si’s shoulder, pushing himself up with one hand.

“Where are you going?” Lin Si asked in a daze.

Lu Wei ruffled his hair, pulled the blanket up to cover his chest, and said in a hoarse voice, “Just sleep.”

Lin Si finally exhaled a long breath, sitting up and looking toward the door where Lu Wei had disappeared. He touched the healing patch on his gland, still feeling as if Lu Wei was pressed against his neck. He pulled the blanket around himself, burying his face in it and inhaling deeply.

Lu Wei’s scent.

It was so comforting.

Suddenly, he understood why Bubble loved rubbing against Lu Wei so much.

Speaking of Bubble—when Lu Wei opened the door earlier, the cat had slipped into the bathroom with him, only to be promptly kicked out. It then ran straight to the bedroom, leaped onto the bed, and carefully stepped over Lin Si’s legs, inching closer.

It sniffed at Lin Si’s gland, clearly drawn to the lingering scent, then licked the healing patch with its tiny pink tongue.

Lin Si picked it up, shaking it gently by its armpits. “Caught in the act.”

Bubble meowed, pawing at the air, trying to return to his neck.

“I knew it! You’re just after Lu Wei’s pheromones, you little pervert.” Lin Si scratched its head, arguing with it. “Shameless cat, you little rascal.”

Bubble: “Meow~”

Lin Si: “Meow, my ass. You pheromone-licking perv.”

Bubble: “Meow!”

Lin Si: “Rascal! Rascal! Shameless little cat!”

Bubble wriggled free and sprawled out on Lu Wei’s side of the bed like it was claiming territory.

Lin Si immediately tried to move it, but no matter how many times he pulled it away, it would dart right back.

After a few rounds of this, Lin Si finally gave up. He yanked the blanket over himself and rolled onto Lu Wei’s side.

“Come on, then. Let’s see if you dare to sleep on my face.”

Bubble circled him, sniffed at his gland again, then—reluctantly—settled beside his neck, letting out a small yawn.

Lin Si, triumphant, grinned and hugged Lu Wei’s pillow, giving Bubble a light poke on the forehead.

Footsteps sounded at the door. Lin Si turned his head and saw Lu Wei standing there.

“Still not asleep?”

Lin Si pointed at Bubble. “It’s fighting me for territory.”

Lu Wei chuckled, sitting on the bed. He scratched lightly under Lin Si’s chin.

Lin Si quickly ducked away, pulling the blanket over himself. “What are you doing?”

“Playing with the cat,” Lu Wei said.

“I’m not as bad as it is.” Lin Si lifted his chin proudly. When Lu Wei didn’t respond, he hesitated, then asked, “Do you like it better?”

Lu Wei tapped his pillow. “You’re in my spot.”

Lin Si immediately scooted back, making space for him.

Lu Wei lay down. Lin Si still felt like there wasn’t enough room, so he inched closer—only for Lu Wei to grab his hand.

“What’s wrong?” Lin Si turned his head.

“Does it still hurt?”

Lin Si touched his neck, thinking for a moment. “It was really painful when you bit me, kind of numb too.” He turned onto his side, looking at Lu Wei. “But it’s not as bad as getting a shot.”

Lu Wei gently rubbed the back of his hand, knowing deep down that Lin Si—who could fall and scrape himself without complaint—was never one to be delicate. It was the shadows of his past that had left scars deeper than any wound.

“You’re so cold,” Lin Si murmured. “Didn’t you use hot water?”

Lu Wei shifted, cupping his hand over Lin Si’s eyes. “Go to sleep.”

Lin Si moved in closer, pressing his eyes against Lu Wei’s palm. “Just now, were you—”

“Yes.” Lu Wei patted his forehead. “Stop messing around.”

Lin Si scooted forward a little more, resting his head against Lu Wei’s. “Don’t be shy. I have one too, you know. Did you feel it?”

“Lin Si, go to sleep.” Lu Wei pushed his head away. “If you don’t sleep now, you won’t be sleeping at all tonight.”

“…” Lin Si lay down properly. “Alright.”

Lu Wei turned off the overhead light, and the room was plunged into darkness. Lin Si, however, was still wide awake. He could feel the sweat in Lu Wei’s palm as they held hands. He wiggled his fingers slightly, only for Lu Wei to tighten his grip.

“You really can’t sleep?” Lu Wei’s low voice broke the silence.

Lin Si sighed. “You bit me so hard I don’t feel sleepy anymore. You should sleep first—you have work tomorrow.”

Since Lin Si was awake, Lu Wei had no choice but to keep talking with him. “Once this movie is done, you’ll have more script options. Your agent is good to you, but his skills aren’t exactly comprehensive. Don’t just let him pick scripts for you. He can liaise with production teams and investors, but you should review the scripts yourself. Take what you like. If you don’t, you can wait.”

“I’ve always wanted to ask—why did you reject the lead role for me in ‘Missing You 66’?” Lin Si asked.

That was a long time ago. Lu Wei thought for a moment before answering, “It was a coincidence. When I first took over Shengshi, I visited Shengshi Entertainment. Li Zhong showed me your script, and I casually flipped through a scene in the middle. I didn’t like the main character’s design.”

“Looks like great minds think alike.” Lin Si laughed. “I didn’t like that role either.”

“For your first film, the pay and screen time aren’t the most important things. The key is audience reception. If you have a standout role, playing a lead in your next film will feel natural.” Lu Wei explained. “That’s why I said your agent’s abilities aren’t all-encompassing. The way he managed you as a singer doesn’t necessarily work in the film industry.”

Lin Si pursed his lips. “Liao Ji is great. Don’t criticize him.”

“I’m not questioning his character.” Lu Wei said. “I’m very grateful to him.”

“When the doctor said I couldn’t undergo another gland replacement surgery, Old Lu was really disappointed. He reassigned my agent with good connections, leaving just me and Liao Ji. The two of us were constantly sent to random places to perform, traveling north and south with barely any rest. The little money we earned wasn’t enough, so we lived off my savings.” Lin Si recounted. “Later, when I finally wrote new songs and planned an album, the company refused to fund a major promotion. If it weren’t for Liao Ji drinking and negotiating with distribution companies, I wouldn’t have even had a platform to release my songs.”

Lu Wei stroked his ear and slipped his arm under Lin Si’s head, pulling him closer. Lin Si naturally curled up against him, resting his head on Lu Wei’s arm.

“The hard times are over. No one will treat you like that again.” Lu Wei said.

“It wasn’t all bad. Plenty of celebrities have had it worse than me. I wasn’t that poor.” Lin Si wrinkled his nose. “You smell really good.”

Lin Si had always been a scatterbrained talker, jumping between topics. Lu Wei’s stern face softened with a helpless smile. “You smell good too.”

“Of course I do.” Lin Si sniffed himself. “I didn’t use the long-acting scent suppressant today. I wonder if people will notice.”

Lu Wei could faintly pick up the mix of Alpha and Omega scents on Lin Si. “You’ll need to go back to the hospital for a follow-up in a few days. Use a scent suppressant patch for now.”

Lin Si nodded, then touched the back of his neck anxiously. “If someone sees it, I’m doomed.”

“Wear a collared shirt.” Lu Wei’s fingers lightly brushed against his gland. “I didn’t bite that hard. It should fade by the day after tomorrow.”

“Hopefully.” Lin Si yawned. “I’m sleepy.” He nudged Lu Wei’s arm. “Don’t keep holding me like this. Your arm will go numb.”

Without a word, Lu Wei withdrew his arm before Lin Si could react to his overly familiar actions.

“Goodnight.”

Sleepily, Lin Si murmured back, “Goodnight…”

Lin Si left later than Lu Wei. By the time Liao Ji arrived, Lu Wei was already dressed, carrying his briefcase while talking on the phone. He waved at Lin Si as he spoke.

“…Three minutes.” Lu Wei ended the call, standing at the bottom of the staircase in the foyer, looking at Lin Si.

“What is it?” Lin Si asked.

Lu Wei studied him for a good ten seconds as if memorizing his face.

“I’ll pick you up from the set when you go for your follow-up.” Lu Wei said.

Lin Si nodded.

That bit of lingering sentiment was the most Lu Wei could allow himself. He gave Lin Si a slight nod before turning to leave.

“Lu Wei,” Lin Si called out, “I’m bringing my VR headset. If we both have time, we can meet in the virtual world.”
