The countdown to the college entrance exam quickly reached the 100-day mark.
The school organized a special assembly on the playground for the 100-day pledge ceremony, notifying all the teachers and students in the senior year to attend.
At the end of February, the weather was neither cold nor hot, and the afternoon sunlight bathed everyone, carrying a faint warmth.
The principal sat on the podium, nervously testing the microphone.
“Hello, hello, good afternoon, teachers and students…”
“Hello, hello, good afternoon…”
The buzzing sound from the speakers reverberated across the entire playground. The principal frowned and waved over the teacher in charge of the equipment.
The teacher tapped the microphone and removed the phone from the desk.
The harsh noise finally disappeared.
The principal grasped the microphone again and solemnly announced, “Everyone, please be quiet. I declare that the Huainan No. 1 High School 100-Day Pledge Ceremony for the college entrance exam officially begins.”
Chu Tao stood in the third-class line, about 100 meters away from the podium.
When the national anthem began to play, the entire field fell silent.
The powerful rhythm of the drums beat in every cell of the body, and the blood, along with the bright sunlight, became warm and restless.
After the anthem ended, the principal took a deep breath and said slowly, “The hard work of the past three years is coming to an end. There are only 100 days left until the college entrance exam. Over these three years, all the teachers, leaders, staff, and you at Huainan No. 1 High School have shared many memories—some painful, some joyful, and some unforgettable.
I know that many of you have complaints. You say high school is tough, that the teachers are unapproachable, that the school cafeteria is awful, and that the moral education department is always making trouble.
Sometimes, I also browse the school forum to see what my students are concerned about, what they are complaining about.
I saw some posts saying that after graduation, they must find a way to teach the head of the moral education department a lesson, and others said they wanted to smash the glass at the security office.”
Laughter erupted from the audience.
It wasn’t just on the internet—when chatting, the teachers from the moral education department, the group leader who checked cleanliness, and the stern director of the security department were often the targets of everyone’s complaints.
What surprised everyone was that the principal also knew about these things.
Principal Ji continued, “Actually, you’re not the first group of students to say these things. If you go back through the posts from previous years, you’ll see that almost every year, someone says the same things, but no one has ever actually done anything about it.
For three years, we have taught you with care, set strict requirements, and reminded you at all times, but we have also always been with you.
Today, I can finally say to you, studying has really been tough…”
Chu Tao half-closed his eyes, facing the sunlight, and tried to look up.
The principal’s voice gradually became distant, and his attention was consumed more by his own thoughts.
The second mock exam results had come out, and Chu Tao had stabilized in the top ten of the grade.
Jiang She had also done exceptionally well, breaking into the top fifty of the grade.
Although he still claimed he didn’t know much, Chu Tao knew that compared to the beginning of sophomore year, Jiang She had already improved tremendously.
Sometimes, Jiang She would come up with solutions to problems in ways that Chu Tao hadn’t thought of.
Everything was going perfectly, and the effort had paid off. What he had firmly believed in had never let him down.
These 100 days were no longer a torture, but a time to enjoy.
He would enjoy the final days at Huainan No. 1 High School, spending time together with everyone, sharing the hard work and effort.
And then, he would have a future that he had always hoped for.
Chu Tao took a deep breath, unable to resist spreading his hands, letting the wind on the playground pass through his fingers.
He had never felt so relaxed, confident, and self-assured as he did now.
He liked this pledge ceremony. To him, it was not just a motivational event before the college entrance exam, but also the closing chapter of his high school life.
It was like a train that had traveled a long journey and was finally nearing the destination.
He could see the distant platform, the red signal light flashing, and the constant sound of the whistle in his ears.
“The old man really can talk forever.”
After listening to the principal’s speech for half an hour, Jiang She yawned wearily.
“Shh.”
Chu Tao gave him a look, signaling him to be quieter.
Principal Ji was talking about the sacrifices parents make for their children, citing several real-life examples of students.
These stories made the classmates around them cry uncontrollably, moved by the emotion.
Only Jiang She, who was never affected by these sentimental stories, listened like it was just nonsense, and couldn’t help but make a comment.
Chu Tao wasn’t that sentimental either. He had zoned out for a while and had just returned from the distant horizon.
In front of the line, Dai Wenjian was crying so hard that his large frame was shaking. He had his head lowered, rubbing his eyes with all his might, sniffing loudly in quick bursts.
Chu Tao was somewhat speechless.
He hadn’t planned to stand in this position and had originally planned to stand further forward.
But Jiang She insisted on standing with him, so he changed places.
Had he known this would happen, he would rather have stayed away from Dai Wenjian’s crying.
Jiang She also couldn’t stand it, so he commented, “I mean, if you care so much about your mom, why not study hard?”
Dai Wenjian sobbed, “Caring is one thing, studying well is another. I can cry more as long as I don’t have to study, woo woo woo.”
Jiang She: “…”
Chu Tao shrugged.
After a while, the crying on the playground softened, and Chu Tao started daydreaming again.
Suddenly, a crumpled paper ball hit his arm and quickly rolled down to his feet.
Chu Tao looked down at the irregular little paper ball, then looked back at Jiang She in confusion.
Jiang She lazily said, “So, have you thought about where to go for the graduation trip?”
Chu Tao raised an eyebrow and lowered his voice, “Aren’t you thinking too far ahead? There are still 100 days until the college entrance exam.”
Jiang She: “100 days isn’t far. We need to book flights and hotels in advance. Three months is just about right. We should go right after the exam, so we avoid the little kids who are on summer break.”
Chu Tao thought for a moment: “I haven’t thought that much about it yet.”
Jiang She suggested, “How about a cruise? We could go to the Mediterranean or the Caribbean. It’s not tiring, and it’s pretty relaxing.”
Chu Tao didn’t understand why they were talking about travel during a pledge ceremony.
He casually replied, “I haven’t been to many places. Wherever you want to go is fine.”
Jiang She grinned, “Then I’ll book it, and give you a surprise.”
Chu Tao smiled faintly, “Okay.”
Dai Wenjian turned around, his eyes red, and mumbled, “Hey, class monitor, you guys are shameless. I’m here crying so badly, and you two are already talking about your honeymoon!”
Since the last time his deskmate pointed it out, Dai Wenjian seemed to have unlocked some hidden understanding. Things that he had never understood before, things he couldn’t figure out, suddenly all made sense.
“Brother She is so special to the class monitor, and the class monitor helps Brother She with his studies, it’s not because of friendship—it’s love, damn it!”
Chu Tao’s ears turned red. He crouched down to pick up the paper ball and threw it back at Dai Wenjian. “Honeymoon, your grandfather!”
His aim wasn’t as good as Jiang She’s. The paper ball was thrown with force, grazing Dai Wenjian’s shoulder before bouncing off and landing on someone from the neighboring class.
Of course, Dai Wenjian was the type of person to act a little exaggerated. Knowing Chu Tao had thrown the paper ball, he dramatically dodged, making his movements stand out against the orderly line, drawing attention from the surrounding classmates. Even Yang Liu, standing at the back, cleared his throat as a warning.
Chu Tao, slightly embarrassed, lowered his head.
This was a serious occasion—how could he act like Jiang She and fool around?
It took a while, but eventually, the nearby classmates returned their attention to the stage.
Chu Tao, feeling bored, looked up at the sky.
At some point, a large, thick cloud drifted across the sky. But it didn’t block the sun, and the bright, sharp sunlight continued to shine overhead.
The cloud slowly moved on, swirling together as if it were a horse galloping wildly.
It seemed like a good omen, symbolizing a successful college entrance exam for this year’s class.
Just as Chu Tao was thinking this, large raindrops suddenly fell without warning.
The sun shower poured down heavily, almost without giving anyone a chance to react.
The raindrops were fine, dense, and heavy, carrying a warm, damp scent that quickly filled the entire playground.
Before the pledge ceremony, the school had already checked the weather, but no one had expected this sudden sun shower to appear out of nowhere.
Many students hadn’t taken suppressants but had just sprayed a little around their necks.
The rain came fast and strong, quickly washing away the scent of the suppressants, and pheromones began to mix with the rain, filling the air.
The principal, speaking into the microphone, warned, “Students, don’t panic. The sun shower will pass soon. We’ll finish the ceremony.”
Since Huainan No.1 High School had an AO (alpha-omega) class division system, during events like this, alphas and omegas stood separately on the playground. Even though the pheromone influence could still be felt, it was bearable.
The sun shower was indeed fast and intense, but it wouldn’t last long.
The significance of the pledge ceremony was profound and solemn, and it absolutely couldn’t be disrupted by a sudden event. When facing such an important moment in life, the school leadership was somewhat superstitious, believing that if the momentum was interrupted, it would affect the morale for the college entrance exam.
After a brief moment of panic, the entire student body quickly regained calm. Everyone acted as though nothing had happened, standing in the rain and looking straight ahead.
Only Chu Tao and Jiang She seemed to struggle.
After several intimate encounters, Chu Tao’s gland had fully accepted Jiang She as his other half. He was familiar with Jiang She’s pheromones, liked it, and even became addicted to it.
With the intense study schedule lately, with exams coming one after another, and the winter break when Chu Tao went back to his hometown for the New Year, the two had hardly had any intimate moments together. They barely even had time for a kiss.
For two alphas, this was incredibly torturous. Every day they had to spray large amounts of suppressants to control their bodies’ needs. But this sudden rain was perfectly timed to wash the suppressants away.
Chu Tao smelled Jiang She’s pheromones and couldn’t help but feel a rush of dizziness. They were cool, sweet, and intoxicating. He wanted to bite Jiang She’s gland, just a small bite, to pierce the delicate skin with his teeth, letting the pheromones fill his body and satisfy the craving he had.
Chu Tao’s teeth were trembling, and he struggled to swallow, trying to control the impulse. He just hoped the sun shower would end soon so he could spray the suppressant again and stop the torment he was feeling right now.
Jiang She had never known about the existence of mental glands. In that instant, he just felt an overwhelming need to have Chu Tao by his side. Without thinking, he did exactly that.
He stepped over to Chu Tao and tightly embraced him from behind, his nose pressed against the back of Chu Tao’s neck. His arms eagerly wrapped around Chu Tao’s waist. “Give me a hug. Just one hug, I’d give you my life.”
When Jiang She leaped toward him, Chu Tao’s self-control was on the verge of collapsing. He managed to force out a sentence from the depths of his chest:
“Damn… get away from me, you’re too sweet!”
The students in Class Three: “Damn…”
The class leaders: “???”
