Chu Tao discovered that with Jiang She, you can’t directly oppose him. If you go along with him a bit, you can avoid a lot of trouble.
Jiang She had a powerful ability to learn, so Chu Tao quickly grasped this dynamic.
Chu Tao’s gaze shifted toward the frosted glass door. He deliberately slowed his voice and softened it, asking in a friendly tone, “Shall we go back to class?”
Looking at the clock, the chemistry teacher should be arriving soon.
Chu Tao was a bit weak in chemistry, and it was the subject where he lost the most points during mock exams. He couldn’t afford to slack off and needed to quickly ease the tension with Jiang She.
The morning breeze from outside blew in, bringing a slight chill. It wasn’t yet the season to wear short sleeves, so Chu Tao rubbed his arms, feeling the slight warmth from his palms.
“Wait a moment.”
Jiang She leaned against the pile of old desks and chairs in the small room, grabbed his backpack, and pulled out a bottle of yogurt.
Aloe vera flavor.
The yogurt was clearly recently bought, with a thin layer of condensation on the cup, making the packaging appear hazy, as if through a layer of gauze.
Chu Tao recognized the brand but didn’t usually buy it.
This imported brand only offered aloe vera flavor, and a small bottle cost around twenty to thirty yuan. It only lasted for three or four days, and the school shop only received one box a day because few people bought it.
Chu Tao furrowed his brows, puzzled, as he looked at Jiang She.
Did that mean he had to sit here and drink yogurt and eat breakfast with him?
Jiang She looked up, his dark pupils reflecting Chu Tao’s fair profile, focused yet audacious.
He suddenly grabbed Chu Tao’s hand and directly shoved the bottle of aloe vera yogurt into his palm.
“For you.”
Chu Tao stiffened all over.
His palm felt numbed by the cold yogurt, and the fingers that Jiang She had touched still carried a clear, lingering sensation.
Chu Tao has two little-known facts about him.
1. He likes sweet food.
2. He has a preference for aloe vera flavor.
“Too expensive,” was Chu Tao’s first reaction when he held the yogurt in his hand.
The small bottle was very light, and he wasn’t sure if it even had two hundred milliliters. And yet, it cost twenty to thirty yuan, which felt like a waste.
“Nonsense, can a two or three yuan strawberry-flavored cheap brand even be drinkable?” Jiang She blurted out.
He was talking about the bottle that Mo Xi wanted to give to Chu Tao, a small local brand that wasn’t famous nationwide but was the most popular in the school due to its affordability.
As for things like protein content or lactic acid bacteria content, no one paid attention to those.
Jiang She didn’t know why he was so fixated on the yogurt that Mo Xi hadn’t given to Chu Tao.
Perhaps he thought that since Chu Tao had been coughing last night, he should use something of good quality for soothing his throat.
Chu Tao’s throat felt tight, and he pushed it back to him: “Why are you giving me yogurt?”
Jiang She glanced at him, his eyelids narrowing slightly, and casually said, “Aren’t you coughing? The yogurt soothes the throat.”
It was unclear whether Jiang She had always known this or if he had heard it from Mo Xi.
Chu Tao felt a little headache.
It seemed that Jiang She did have a good impression of Mo Xi after all.
Chu Tao pressed his neck, trying to relieve the itch in his throat, and couldn’t help but complain.
“Actually, the yogurt soothing the throat was something I made up when talking to Mo Xi. This stuff doesn’t really soothe the throat; it’s more for the intestines.”
It was his first time as a senior, his first time interviewing a junior.
To appear more enthusiastic and have something to talk about, he casually picked up the yogurt beside him and chatted.
He didn’t expect Mo Xi to remember this, as it had been months ago.
“Soothing the intestines is also good,” Jiang She’s gaze dropped, landing on Chu Tao’s flat stomach under the thin fabric, as he casually added.
Chu Tao: “…” What is this nonsense?
Chu Tao: “Thanks, you keep it. I’m fine.”
It never hurt to say thank you or sorry when dealing with someone like Jiang She.
“Tsk,” Jiang She raised an eyebrow, reached out, and hooked his arm around Chu Tao’s neck, not using much force, but threatening in a fierce tone, “Are you going to drink it or not?”
Chu Tao didn’t expect him to suddenly get so close.
The scent of the suppressant on Jiang She’s body came over again, and today he had sprayed an orange scent.
Rich people can afford to change their suppressant bottle every day, never repeating.
Chu Tao knocked on his arm: “Stop fooling around, it’s time for class.”
He applied a bit of force and pulled in the direction of the door.
In that position, Jiang She exerted some force and pulled Chu Tao completely into his embrace.
Chu Tao’s back was pressed against Jiang She’s chest, and his back immediately tensed.
The wind blowing through the window grew stronger, and the breeze brushed against the cold, indifferent window frame, making a creaking, whining sound.
Chu Tao immediately felt the chill on his skin.
The only warm place was the back that was tightly pressed against Jiang She’s chest.
Chu Tao couldn’t help but recall his reaction to Jiang She’s pheromones last night.
Damn.
It was broad daylight, and if he truly couldn’t control himself, there wouldn’t even be a place to hide.
Although everyone had sprayed suppressants, these are meant to prevent the pheromones of alpha individuals from clashing and conflicting with each other. The international standard is to dilute the pheromone content to a set level below a certain threshold, which doesn’t mean there’s none at all.
Being too close, Chu Tao couldn’t avoid inhaling Jiang She’s pheromone scent.
Chu Tao immediately grabbed Jiang She’s hand with force, trying to pull away and create some distance.
Jiang She, using his height advantage, had no trouble exerting more force. In this position, he opened the bottle of yogurt and brought it to Chu Tao’s lips.
“You don’t have to accept his, but you must accept mine.”
Chu Tao lowered his voice, a little angry: “Jiang She!”
“Drink it, and I’ll let go of you.”
Chu Tao couldn’t argue with him, frustrated and flustered as he snatched the bottle, tilted his head back, and took a sip.
“Is that enough?”
His neck was long, his skin pale and translucent, and when he tilted his head back, his small, rounded Adam’s apple protruded, while his collarbone, hidden beneath his deep blue collar, was barely visible.
Jiang She’s gaze darkened. His right hand, which had been clenched in a fist resting on Chu Tao’s shoulder, couldn’t help but open. The heel of his hand ended up pressing lightly against the edge of Chu Tao’s collarbone.
Chu Tao was slender, his joints defined, yet full of strength.
Jiang She was puzzled.
Why had he once thought someone like Su Jingtong was good-looking?
Maybe he was blind back then.
Chu Tao licked his lower lip. The aloe vera pulp was juicy and full, the yogurt wasn’t too sweet but was very delicate and smooth—this was truly worth the price.
The bottle Jiang She gave him was indeed delicious.
But that would be the last time.
He couldn’t possibly buy it every day.
Chu Tao turned his face to look for Jiang She’s eyes, but Jiang She instinctively avoided his gaze.
“Giving you something is such a hassle. Are you some rich young lady?”
Jiang She grumpily let go of him and pushed the door open, heading out.
He was afraid that if he stayed longer, he might do something he shouldn’t to Chu Tao.
The glass door wasn’t very smooth to begin with, and with no one paying attention for such a long time, the pivot had accumulated dust, so when pushed, it made a loud noise.
Chu Tao took a few deep breaths, lowered his eyes in resignation, twisted the cap back onto the bottle, and followed him out.
He thought he had figured out Jiang She, but it turned out he hadn’t.
This person was unpredictable when something was off, and always so strange.
Jiang She went back to the classroom first, and the noisy environment suddenly quieted down. Everyone silently watched him, scrutinizing his expression.
Jiang She didn’t look well. He went straight to his seat, flopped back carelessly, and lowered his head to play with his phone.
Soon after, Chu Tao returned to class.
He looked a little miserable.
His school uniform was wrinkled, the neatly-collared shirt was now sagging, and there was still a faint redness on his neck.
He didn’t speak. He just put the yogurt bottle on his desk and lowered his head to continue reading Wang Houxiong.
The class started whispering and murmuring among themselves.
“Damn, did the class monitor get hit? His clothes are all messed up.”
“His neck’s a bit red, but his face is fine, no blood.”
“Don’t you know how hard Jiang She hits? Internal injuries!”
“The class monitor is so unlucky. I’ve never seen anyone challenge Jiang She and come out unscathed.”
“Jiang She’s always had it out for the class monitor. Things aren’t going to be easy for him from now on.”
“The class monitor’s coughing!”
“Damn, he’s probably coughing up blood!”
