The professor leading the lecture soon took the stage.
He was a thin, older man, clearly no longer young, yet his energy was remarkable, and his eyes were sharp and bright.
Sex education in the country had always been somewhat elusive. Although schools offered courses and counseling clinics, few students made full use of them. Most relied on fragmented knowledge picked up from the internet and books as a form of self-protection.
As Chu Tao had expected, few students were genuinely interested in the lecture. Most were simply there to check in, and with the school temporarily lifting the signal block, they could now freely use their phones for whatever they wanted.
Chu Tao had even brought some homework in case the lecture was dull; he didn’t want to waste two hours on it.
The professor, amiable and warm, looked around the stadium and smiled, “Hello, students! First, let me introduce myself—I am an alpha.”
A murmur of surprise swept through the audience.
This professor, with his slight build and mild demeanor, didn’t seem like an alpha at all; he seemed more like a beta or even an Omega.
The professor chuckled. “Many people find it hard to believe. I didn’t believe it at first either, and neither did those around me. Growing up, I was often puzzled—why was I an alpha? My classmates even teased me, saying I didn’t deserve to be one, so I struggled a lot with insecurity when I was young.”
As he finished speaking, Chu Tao looked up, and under the table, Chu Xingning gently held his hand.
The professor continued, “I excelled academically and could have chosen any popular major at the time—finance, law, aerospace engineering. But I never forgot how I felt as a child, so in the end, I chose psychology and sex education, scoring 150 points above the entry requirement.”
Fang Sheng couldn’t resist muttering, “Wow, the old guy’s got a reason, huh? Does studying sex ed mean you get free access to adult content?”
Xu Yuan snickered, “Studying sex ed doesn’t, but joining the anti-pornography unit might. Maybe you can ask A-She’s mom to set you up to hookup with someone.”
“My mom doesn’t work in that office,” Jiang She shot a glare at Xu Yuan.
“But she oversees them,” Xu Yuan replied.
Surprisingly, Jiang She didn’t respond or argue with Xu Yuan.
Chu Tao glanced over at Jiang She out of the corner of his eye. Jiang She merely lowered his gaze, his eyelashes casting faint shadows around his eyes. Did Fang Sheng and Xu Yuan really not know about Jiang She’s relationship with his mom?
But the professor’s next words quickly pulled Chu Tao’s attention back.
“In my research, I discovered that our country’s sex education is still far from sufficient. Through our team’s extensive studies, we found that a small percentage of alphas possess a ‘mental gland.’”
“A mental gland?”
“What the heck is that?”
This novel term piqued everyone’s interest.
Even Jiang She looked up, squinting his eyes to listen carefully.
Fang Sheng, lacking any restraint, called out loudly, “So these alphas have it good—they can enjoy both ways, right? They get the thrill of being on top and the pleasure of being on the bottom?”
“HAHAHAHAHA!”
“What kind of question is that?”
“Who the hell asked that dumb question?”
“Hey, hey, it’s one of the big shots from Class 3.”
Laughter rippled through the gym, and those further away who hadn’t caught it were anxiously asking the people next to them.
The professor, smiling, looked in Fang Sheng’s direction. “That’s a good point. These special alphas can experience a mental climax in response to certain people’s pheromones—those individuals could be alphas, betas, or even others. But the probability of encountering one’s specific match is less than one in a million, which is why this phenomenon has gone largely unnoticed.”
Chu Tao tightened his lips and swallowed, feeling both uneasy and in awe of this unknown.
A mental gland?
A mental climax?
That rainy night when Jiang She’s pheromones were washed away, he… wait, no, that can’t be right… right?
Chu Xingning quietly murmured, “I read a similar study in a science magazine. There was research on this a few years ago, but it’s still not widely known.”
Fang Sheng, hugging himself, turned to Jiang She. “Hey, A-She, do you think I might have a mental gland but just haven’t met my destined one yet?”
Jiang She glanced at him dismissively and scoffed, “Are you hoping to get fucked?”
Distracted, Chu Tao accidentally knocked over his thermos. The sound was particularly loud as it hit the table.
He quickly picked it up, gripping it tightly, his knuckles slightly pale.
Jiang She looked at him, slightly stunned.
Meanwhile, Fang Sheng muttered to himself, “No way, I still prefer Omegas. If anyone tried to mess with me, I’d beat the hell out of them.”
Chu Tao looked down, nervously rubbing the cup’s surface with his thumb.
Jiang She smirked and half-seriously asked, “Hey, class president, do you want to be… uh?” He deliberately left the word unfinished, replacing it with a cough, which only made it more obvious.
Chu Tao didn’t answer, but Chu Xingning’s face darkened. “Jiang She, don’t take it too far.”
It was the first time Chu Xingning had spoken directly to Jiang She, and Fang Sheng quickly went quiet to watch the drama unfold.
Jiang She ignored Chu Xingning, though, and instead hooked his arm around Chu Tao’s shoulder, leaning in close to whisper, “Class president, am I taking it too far?”
Chu Tao couldn’t handle Jiang She speaking to him in that low, breathy voice, especially with his warm breath lightly hitting his right ear.
His right earlobe was already sensitive, and a faint agitation began to stir within him.
He quickly slapped Jiang She’s hand away, adjusted his collar, and shot back, “Do you want it?”
“I wouldn’t mind, depending on who I’m doing it with.” Jiang She gave him a teasing look.
Chu Tao froze, left speechless by him.
“So, you’d let someone… be on top of you?”
Though he knew Jiang She was joking, Chu Tao was gaining a new appreciation for his lack of boundaries.
Anyone who caught a whiff of Jiang She’s pheromones would know his aura was too dominant to ever be on the receiving end.
Jiang She’s Adam’s apple bobbed, and with a hint of something more, he said, “I told you, it depends on who it is.”
“Who?” Chu Tao asked casually.
Jiang She chuckled. “I’d say it, but I’m afraid you wouldn’t want to hear it.”
Fang Sheng couldn’t hold back anymore. “A-She, could you stop being so shameless? The class president is a pure, dedicated student who only focuses on his studies—he’s on a different level than us.”
Jiang She quietly repeated, “Tch, a good student.”
In front, the professor continued, “Many students choose, on the day they turn 18, to use apps to search for an Omega with a high compatibility rating—oh, some of you are probably sneaking peeks already, even though you’re not adults yet. With a compatibility of over 90%, the pheromones are well-matched, so they usually get together. No one pays attention to this mental gland phenomenon, so many go their whole lives without meeting that one person.”
The students who had been enjoying the talk slowly grew silent.
A lifetime is so long, and to sum it up in such a short sentence felt a bit harsh.
The professor’s eyes softened as he added, “If you’re fortunate enough to meet them, you’ll feel life’s grandeur. Every hidden mystery of the human body becomes incredibly beautiful and full of emotion.”
Author’s Note: Tao Tao, don’t doubt it! The one who teases you the most is your soulmate!
