Chapter 13: We Have No Other Relationship!
“Where are they?” Xiao Jin’s brows were furrowed, his face dark with irritation.
His agreement with Ruan Yan was nothing more than a simple verbal contract.
Ji Duan shrank his neck slightly. “I saw the elevator stop on the fifth floor.”
Xiao Jin clicked his tongue against his cheek. “Draft a lover’s contract—every single thing a lover is supposed to do. I want it detailed, down to the last point!”
“……” Ji Duan hesitated before responding, “Got it.”
Without another word, Xiao Jin turned and strode toward the elevator.
A soft ding echoed in the quiet hallway as the elevator doors slid open. The private rooms above the bar were well soundproofed, leaving only the sound of footsteps in the stillness.
Meanwhile, completely unaware of the impending danger, Ruan Yan was focused on the files displayed on Zhou Shiyu’s computer.
The screen showed the complete list of personnel working at Ruan Hong’s secret factory.
Zhou Shiyu sat with his long legs crossed, one arm resting against the sofa while the other held a glass of red wine. “Here, consider this a freebie,” he said lazily. “That factory of Ruan Hong’s? It’s guarded by professional armed personnel. If you go in alone, you’ll die faster than that scumbag father of yours.”
Ruan Yan stared at the list, his mind gradually cooling down as he processed the information.
He knew that his impatience and eagerness for quick results were all because of Xiao Jin.
But bringing Ruan Hong down from his current position wouldn’t be easy, even without Xiao Jin in the picture.
The influence of pheromones had made him forget his original intention—to use Xiao Jin for his own ends.
“Ruan Yan, you’re not strong enough. You can’t take Ruan Hong down.” Zhou Shiyu’s tone was casual, almost indifferent, but his words hit where it hurt.
Ruan Yan had always been aware of this. That was why he remained in the Ruan family.
It was Xiao Jin’s appearance that shattered his composure.
Use him.
Right now, it seemed like using Xiao Jin was the only path left for him.
But he still didn’t know enough about Xiao Jin. His fingers curled into a fist on the coffee table. “Look into Xiao Jin for me.”
“Sure. Five million,” Zhou Shiyu agreed immediately, without the slightest hint of politeness.
“Alright.” Ruan Yan agreed without hesitation. Zhou Shiyu had access to a wealth of information and naturally knew about his stock trading profits. That was why he never showed any mercy when naming his price.
There was no room for negotiation when it came to money with Zhou Shiyu.
“Deal.” Zhou Shiyu leaned in slightly, clinking his wine glass against Ruan Yan’s.
Suddenly, a loud bang echoed through the room as the private suite’s door was slammed open.
When Xiao Jin strode in, the first thing he saw was Zhou Shiyu leaning in close to Ruan Yan’s ear. From his angle, it looked like an intimate couple whispering sweet nothings to each other.
Caught off guard by Xiao Jin’s sudden appearance, Ruan Yan instinctively shut Zhou Shiyu’s laptop.
But then, he hesitated.
Did he really need to hide it?
Xiao Jin had said before that even without his involvement, he had plenty of ways to wipe out the Ruan family.
Ruan Yan had asked Zhou Shiyu to investigate Xiao Jin precisely to determine whether he truly had that kind of power.
Zhou Shiyu’s gaze shifted to the two men who had just entered. He raised a brow and said lazily, “And who might you be? You do realize barging into someone else’s private suite is incredibly rude, don’t you?”
Behind Xiao Jin, Ji Duan finally saw the face of the “flamboyant woman” and couldn’t hold back his curse, “Damn, it’s actually a man.”
What Ji Duan didn’t notice was that when Xiao Jin saw Zhou Shiyu was a man, his expression darkened even further.
Ji Duan had investigated Ruan Yan thoroughly, including some details of his private life. Since school, Ruan Yan had never been in a relationship.
Now seeing Ruan Yan with another man, Ji Duan couldn’t help but imagine what their relationship was like, who was on top and who was on the bottom.
He didn’t smell any Omega pheromones, so it was clear the other man was an Alpha.
“Intruding?” Xiao Jin stepped closer, and a powerful wave of his pheromones crashed into Zhou Shiyu, “Wherever I, Xiao Jin, decide to go, that’s where the road leads.”
“Damn!” Zhou Shiyu’s legs buckled as Xiao Jin’s pheromones hit him. The wine glass in his hand fell and shattered on the floor.
Xiao Jin didn’t pull back his pheromones.
“You…” Zhou Shiyu gasped, waving his hand, his voice trembling, “Can you… control your pheromones?”
Xiao Jin was deliberately releasing suppressive pheromones. Ruan Yan was particularly sensitive to Xiao Jin’s scent now. Although it wasn’t aimed directly at him, his condition wasn’t much better than Zhou Shiyu’s.
Xiao Jin showed no sign of retracting his pheromones. Zhou Shiyu’s gaze flickered between him and Ruan Yan.
He was quick-thinking, and since he didn’t recognize the man who had suddenly barged in, he immediately concluded that this person was here for Ruan Yan.
Taking a deep breath, he shouted, “Wait a minute!”
Then he raised his hand, pointing at Ruan Yan, “You’re here for him, right? I’m just his friend, nothing more!”
His words came out rapidly, trying to explain everything in one breath.
From behind the door, Ji Duan poked his head out, “Tsk, I saw you just now, all cozy and hanging on my big sister-in-law.”
The mention of “big sister-in-law” left all three in the room with question marks on their faces.
Xiao Jin couldn’t be bothered to correct him, Zhou Shiyu, now under pressure, only wanted to escape, while Ruan Yan felt something stirring inside him, making it hard for him to focus on Ji Duan’s words.
Ruan Yan once again felt the overwhelming dominance of Enigma in his genes. Zhou Shiyu was trembling all over, struggling to breathe under the pressure.
Since the pheromones weren’t aimed directly at him, Ruan Yan managed to stand up. Step by step, he walked over to Xiao Jin and positioned himself in front of him, blocking Xiao Jin’s gaze as he looked at Zhou Shiyu.
Ruan Yan let out a breath, his posture stiff as he refused to bow down, standing tall as he spoke to Xiao Jin, “He’s my friend. Let him go.”
Xiao Jin squinted at him, almost like a lion eyeing a prey that pleased it. Xiao Jin spoke, “Ji Duan, take that person out.”
As the pressure from the pheromones subsided, Zhou Shiyu immediately felt his breath return to him.
What kind of pheromones were these? He had encountered high-level Alphas before, but no one had ever been able to suppress him like this.
“Alright.” Ji Duan felt the pheromones in the room lessen considerably and immediately rushed in to hoist Zhou Shiyu, who was kneeling on the ground, onto his shoulder and ran out of the room.
Zhou Shiyu almost rolled his eyes, “Slow down! My stomach’s about to get jolted out of me.”
He didn’t dare say anything out loud, but in his mind, he had already cursed the person carrying him a thousand times. He had been starting to feel a little relief when the pheromones had receded a bit, but this talkative guy had to say something, almost making him unable to get up.
Zhou Shiyu vowed that one day he would transfer all the money in this person’s bank account to his own!
As the suppressive pheromones faded, Ruan Yan finally regained a bit of breath. But when his gaze met Xiao Jin’s, his body instinctively recoiled in fear. He tried to step back, but Xiao Jin swiftly grabbed him by the waist and pulled him closer.
Ruan Yan could smell the alcohol on Xiao Jin’s body, and the dangerous look in his eyes, sharpened by the alcohol, locked onto him.
Ruan Yan’s eyes seemed misted over, a result of the earlier pheromone pressure, and there was a subtle trace of vulnerability—an expression that absolutely shouldn’t have been on his face.
Xiao Jin’s thoughts at that moment were clear.
He wanted to break him.
