At the registration office, there were no other zergs registering. Qin Fei and Xi Yuan directly sat at the desk. The zerg behind the counter didn’t even look up but handed over a stack of papers. “Fill these out first, then we’ll take a photo.”  

Xi Yuan took the papers, glanced through them briefly, and began filling in his name. He had done his homework beforehand and had nearly memorized all the required information and instructions. Photos were usually pre-arranged. It was quite rare for a couple to come together like this.  

He continued flipping through the forms. “One male, one female system? Have you made up your mind?” He looked up and asked Qin Fei seriously.  

Qin Fei nodded. “I’ve made up my mind.”  

“Alright, so as a level 9 potential male zerg, and your partner is also level 9 potential… wait, level 9 potential male zerg?!!” His voice suddenly rose in pitch, and his eyes widened in disbelief. He looked at the form again—yep, he wasn’t mistaken, it really was level 9! Qin Fei… no wonder that name sounded so familiar, he was the one who had just been tested and confirmed as a level 9 male zerg yesterday when he came of age!  

The zerg had done something rude—he stared at Qin Fei for quite a while. The sight made Xi Yuan, who was also shocked, frown in displeasure.  

Sensing the cold air from Xi Yuan, the zerg seemed to snap out of his daze and continued: “According to Imperial law, maintaining the one male, one female system will incur a certain fee. Both of you are level 9, so for a level 9 male zerg and a level 9 female zerg registration, the cost will be…” He paused. “One billion. Of course, if you two give birth to two male zergs during your lifetime, the amount will be refunded in full, and interest will be added at the current market rate. Do you still wish to proceed with the one male, one female system?”  

Xi Yuan seemed like he wanted to say something but stopped.  

Qin Fei was firm. One husband was enough! “Yes.”  

“Alright, then please transfer the amount to this account within a hundred years. Of course, if you change your mind later, the amount will be refunded in full. Please rest assured.”  

Qin Fei: “…”  

Rest assured? Rest assured about changing your mind? Was it really okay for a marriage registrar to speak so casually about how a male zerg could betray the promises made to his partner without worry in front of newlyweds?  

After organizing the paperwork, the zerg took a photo of the two. Xi Yuan’s expression was gentle, with a joyful look on his face and a slight smile at the corner of his mouth. Qin Fei smiled, showing a row of white teeth. When they looked at the photo afterward, they were both satisfied with it.  

After the photo, there was nothing more to do. In a few minutes, the zerg handed them two small booklets. “Congratulations, from now on, you two are officially recognized as legal partners.”  

Xi Yuan took them and sincerely thanked the zerg. “Thank you!”
