Wei Yuhe, still half-asleep, sensed someone was in his room. That person wasn’t wearing shoes, moving soundlessly across the floor.
“Junior?”
“Wake up.”
When Wei Yuhe opened his eyes, he saw Lu Yan sitting right on top of him, wearing that oversized white T-shirt he’d given him earlier. His bare legs were casually stretched out across the blanket.
“What are you doing here?” Wei Yuhe was still in that hazy state between sleep and wakefulness. Something about Lu Yan felt… odd.
“Didn’t you call me over?” Lu Yan replied with a straight face.
Wei Yuhe frowned. “When did I ever call you over?”
“You didn’t lock your door. Isn’t that practically an invitation?” Lu Yan tilted his head, his expression innocent, yet slightly dazed.
“Get down,” Wei Yuhe reached out to push him away, but the moment his fingers brushed against Lu Yan’s arm, Lu Yan wrapped himself around him.
With his arms around Wei Yuhe’s, Lu Yan leaned down, practically lying on top of him. “I’m not going anywhere.”
Wei Yuhe’s body went stiff. His arm felt the chill of Lu Yan’s skin, just like when they’d brushed against each other in the living room earlier.
“What… are you trying to do?” Wei Yuhe’s breathing hitched.
“I want to sleep with you.” Lu Yan said bluntly, leaving Wei Yuhe stunned as he leaned down and bit his lower lip.
Lu Yan lifted the blanket and slipped inside, wriggling his way into Wei Yuhe’s embrace.
“Is this how you usually pursue people?” Wei Yuhe, holding back, kept his arms to himself, asking in a serious tone.
“No,” Lu Yan shook his head. “I only like you.”
“Really?” After a brief hesitation, Wei Yuhe finally couldn’t resist anymore and wrapped an arm around Lu Yan’s waist.
“Really.” Seeing that Wei Yuhe had pulled him close, Lu Yan grew bolder. His hand, initially resting on Wei Yuhe’s chest, started to wander, tugging at the hem of his shirt to slip his hand inside.
Wei Yuhe didn’t stop him, and Lu Yan’s grin grew wider, like a child who’d gotten away with a prank. He leaned up and planted a kiss on Wei Yuhe’s cheek.
Wei Yuhe held him tighter, his eyes fixed on Lu Yan’s lips, inches away.
Knock, knock, knock…
The sudden sound of knocking pulled Wei Yuhe’s gaze away from Lu Yan’s lips. He frowned, looking toward the door. Who could it be?
Knock, knock, knock…
“Junior?”
The voice outside was muffled, hard to make out. “Lu Yan” glanced at the door, murmuring, “Looks like the adults are here for a room check.”
Knock, knock, knock…
Finally snapping back to reality, Wei Yuhe realized that Lu Yan wasn’t in bed with him. In fact, Lu Yan was actually standing by the door, blinking at him.
Wei Yuhe’s face turned a shade of red, especially when he saw Lu Yan pushing open the door, staring at him in confusion. His blush traveled from his cheeks all the way down his neck.
“What’s up with you?” Lu Yan walked over to the bedside, looking at Wei Yuhe. “Do you have a fever?”
Lu Yan reached out to feel Wei Yuhe’s forehead, but before he could get close, Wei Yuhe flinched back as if he’d seen a ghost, scooting up against the headboard with nowhere left to retreat.
Lu Yan looked speechless. Did sleeping make him lose his senses?
With a wary expression, Wei Yuhe stared at Lu Yan. “What do you want?”
Lu Yan: “…”
“Your face is red. Are you running a fever?” Lu Yan explained patiently. If it weren’t for how adorably confused and sleepy Wei Yuhe looked, Lu Yan would’ve thought he was less feverish and more delirious.
“Just get out.” Wei Yuhe pulled the blanket around himself, looking away and muttering in a low voice.
“What’s wrong? Not wearing pants?” Lu Yan teased, unfazed. “We’re both guys—what’s there to be embarrassed about?”
“Out.” With Lu Yan’s teasing, Wei Yuhe’s ears turned so red they practically looked like they were about to bleed.
“You’re acting strange.” Lu Yan glanced at Wei Yuhe’s reddened earlobes, intrigued. “Did you have… an inappropriate dream?”
“You…” Wei Yuhe began to wonder if he really did have a fever. Why else would his face feel so unusually hot?
“Seriously?” Lu Yan’s curiosity piqued even further. “What did you dream about?”
Face flushed, Wei Yuhe stayed silent, refusing to meet Lu Yan’s gaze. Lu Yan’s teasing only intensified. “Why won’t you look at me?”
“Did you dream of me?” Lu Yan asked suddenly.
Wei Yuhe immediately denied it, shouting, “No!”
After his outburst, he realized he’d reacted a bit too strongly, and Lu Yan’s grin became harder to suppress.
“So you didn’t dream or… didn’t dream of me?” Lu Yan raised an eyebrow at him.
“No,” Wei Yuhe mumbled in a low voice.
“Then why won’t you look at me?” Lu Yan’s voice carried a hint of genuine curiosity, as if he were truly puzzled.
Turning his head, Wei Yuhe finally looked at Lu Yan, whose lips curved in a smirk, his expression teasing and carefree, almost identical to how he’d looked in Wei Yuhe’s dream.
Lu Yan, with his mind always full of mischief, could twist any of Wei Yuhe’s actions into a little scene, making it seem like he’d done something actually blush-worthy.
“You’ve been asleep forever, haven’t you? Weren’t we supposed to have hot pot today? We still need to go to the store to buy ingredients.”
Instead of pressing further about the dream, Lu Yan reminded him that they were supposed to go grocery shopping.
“Just get out,” Wei Yuhe repeated.
This only made Lu Yan more curious. Why did he insist on making him leave? What was he hiding? He was fully dressed, wasn’t he? Or… was he not wearing pants?
“Are you not wearing pants?” Lu Yan asked aloud, voicing his thought.
Wei Yuhe shot him a glare, clearly not the look of someone without pants.
“Then what’s the big deal about making me leave? Got something to hide?” Lu Yan asked with a grin.
Wei Yuhe stayed silent, and the room fell into an awkward quiet. Lu Yan blinked, noticing the deep red color on Wei Yuhe’s neck and beginning to catch on.
His gaze was a little too shameless, sweeping down from the blanket covering Wei Yuhe’s chest, finally lingering on a certain area, not to be mentioned.
Lu Yan’s blatant staring was so intense it might as well have burned a hole through the blanket.
That look was torturing for Wei Yuhe, who sat rigidly, clutching the blanket as if his life depended on it, desperate not to let it slip.
With Wei Yuhe’s awkward expression and tense posture, Lu Yan quickly figured out what was going on.
“This kind of reaction is perfectly normal, especially in the morning.” Lu Yan offered some half-hearted consolation, smiling like he’d discovered something endlessly fascinating.
“But… what kind of dream would cause a reaction like that?” Lu Yan’s curiosity circled back to Wei Yuhe’s dream.
Wei Yuhe’s grip on the blanket turned his knuckles white, his whole body radiating heat like he was sitting on a stove.
Lu Yan was clearly enjoying the show, showing no intention of leaving. Wei Yuhe knew that, in a battle of shamelessness, he could never win against Lu Yan. If Lu Yan wasn’t going to leave, he’d have to make the first move.
With a deep breath, Wei Yuhe composed himself, then calmly threw off the blanket and got out of bed, heading straight for the bathroom.
His swift, confident movements left Lu Yan momentarily stunned.
Lu Yan stood there, caught off guard, staring in amazement, unable to react for a good few seconds.
It wasn’t until Wei Yuhe had entered the bathroom and closed the door that Lu Yan snapped back to reality. Impressive.
The image of Wei Yuhe just now seemed seared into Lu Yan’s mind, refusing to fade.
Now, Lu Yan wasn’t faring much better than before. The heat on his face didn’t ease, and his breaths felt even warmer.
He quickly headed downstairs to the living room, gulping down several glasses of cold water, finally quenching the dry heat in his throat.
