Chapter 11: The Toxic “Best Friend”
Ye Siran didn’t know that many people in the estate were currying favor with her mother, all eager to help her find a match, hoping to ingratiate themselves with the He family.
On the first day after her rebirth, she had already freed herself from the engagement with He Hongwen and slept in blissfully until the sun was high.
She quietly opened her bedroom door, saw that no one was around, and slipped back into her personal space.
Her pendant, after absorbing blood yesterday, had transformed into a birthmark just below her collarbone—something no one could ever take from her.
She walked into the luxurious kitchen, made herself breakfast, and carried it to the small round table in the sky garden, eating while enjoying the flowers.
Eating food she had prepared herself and smelling the floral fragrance, the estate was full of blooming, vibrant flowers—a scene brimming with life.
In the last few years before her death, she had used the spiritual spring water in her space to bathe and wash her hands daily, keeping herself increasingly refined.
No matter how well she had maintained herself, having suffered in her youth, her hands still bore the marks of time.
Yet that old fool He Hongwen had been enamored with her, gradually distancing himself from Ye Ruyue.
Just as she was feeling smug, finally about to surpass Ye Ruyue, a shocking secret had angered her to death.
Ye Siran raised the hands of her eighteen-year-old body—still tender and white, but covered in calluses. Fortunately, the joints were proportionate, so there was hope.
After breakfast, she rolled up her sleeves and cleaned away all traces of He Hongwen and his adopted daughter’s life from the villa.
Her new life would begin fresh from this very moment!
Ye Siran absolutely refused to admit that she was “erasing evidence”!
This space was more user-friendly than reality. She didn’t even need to move; all she had to do was use her mind.
After cleaning the villa, she went out to tend to the crops in her space—harvesting what needed harvesting and planting what needed planting.
The farm and livestock were fully mechanized; she didn’t need to touch a thing—her mind alone could operate everything.
Only the herb garden beside the spiritual spring required her personal care in her spare time.
As a lifelong “supportive lover,” her specialty was cooking and preparing medicinal meals.
In her previous life, for He Hongwen, the He family, and her birth parents, she had spent huge sums to apprentice under countless masters—chefs, nutritionists, traditional Chinese doctors, and medicinal meal specialists…
Luckily, she had always been interested in Chinese medicine. After her daughter went abroad, she began studying it seriously.
She also cultivated numerous medicinal herbs in her space, spending her free time tending the herb garden and rolling health pills.
Having endured all the hardships in her previous life, she could now enjoy the fruits of her labor. Perhaps this was the reward for all the good deeds she had done in her past life.
Perfect!
With these herbs, she could continue her work in traditional Chinese medicine and even heal her grandparents.
She only knew she had grandparents and a biological older brother. Whether the Ye family had other members, she didn’t know.
Besides, she hadn’t seen her grandparents even once since she could remember—not because she didn’t want to, but because her birth mother wouldn’t allow it.
The medicinal balms, pills, wound patches, and beauty pills from her previous life were still possible to make. Even though she now had considerable assets, money earned by her own hands was far more satisfying.
In her past life, she had also sponsored many impoverished elderly people and children’s education.
When she thought of her grandparents, who had been gone for years, and her missing older brother, of course she felt regret!
Carrying those regrets, she had always helped those in need, often offering medical care for free, earning much praise.
Perhaps this was… accumulated merit.
Last night, Ye Siran had taken a flower bath in the bathroom. The joy of rebirth made her forget that the space even had spiritual spring water.
She removed her clothes and slowly stepped into the stream, feeling her pores open completely.
It wasn’t cold at all—the water seemed to respond to her body, flowing warmly over her.
How could she get dirtier the more she washed?
Ye Siran carefully scrubbed her body, noticing the black grime on her head.
How many days had it been since her last bath?!
Hadn’t she soaked in a flower bath just last night? The more she scrubbed, the more amazed she became—her skin was becoming whiter and more tender!
Could it be… this spiritual spring wasn’t just for internal healing, but also external use?
It couldn’t really work like in those cultivation novels, washing the marrow and sinews clean with one bath, could it?
She hurried to climb out of the water. Looking back, indeed, her skin was smooth, tender, and slippery.
It seemed the spring had upgraded its effects—if she kept washing, the family might think she was a completely different person.
At the same time, countless traditional Chinese medicine insights flooded her mind!
Heavens! Such a good fortune!
In her previous life, after obtaining the space, Ye Siran hadn’t indulged herself but instead nourished the space with countless precious herbs.
Through their interaction, the space’s spiritual energy grew stronger, which also upgraded the spring water.
If she had only used the space to earn material wealth, the energy would have weakened or even disappeared.
In her previous life, she hadn’t known this. Now, she understood, and she would no longer exploit the space for wealth.
Thinking of this, she was eager to see her grandparents. She dressed in her usual clothes and stepped out of the space.
As soon as she left the house, she ran into her toxic “best friend” Chen Li, who immediately started scolding her.
With a face full of anger, Chen Li said, “Siran, why are you still at home? Don’t you know your sister went with He Hongwen to get the marriage certificate?”
“I know my sister went with Hongwen to get the certificate. Lili, as long as Mom, Dad, and my sister are happy, I’m happy too.”
Ye Siran forced a smile that was more painful than crying, but inside, she was thrilled!
She knew this plastic “friend” also liked He Hongwen and had intentionally waited here to provoke her.
Too bad for Chen Li—Ye Siran no longer wanted He Hongwen!
Besides, Chen Li was no good herself. In their previous life, she had benefited from the He family’s favor because of Ye Siran, yet she had not stopped seducing He Hongwen.
“Siran, He Hongwen is your fiancé. He went with your stepsister to get the certificate. You can still stop them if you act now.”
“Lili, you know everyone in the estate says I’m not worthy of Hongwen. Besides, he likes my sister so much. If they’re marrying, I should bless them.”
Seeing Chen Li’s expression like she had swallowed a fly, Ye Siran felt indescribably happy.
“As long as you’re happy, that’s what matters!” Chen Li said awkwardly, secretly cursing Ye Siran for being both foolish and weak.
She had always looked down on Ye Siran but had to curry favor with her since the He family head liked her.
Why should an orphan like Ye Siran be able to reach He Hongwen? Every time she saw Ye Ruyue making things difficult, she was overjoyed.
Every time Ye Siran suffered a setback, Chen Li would go home and eat an extra bowl of wild vegetables—her family was poor, and her parents favored sons.
Learning that Ye Siran couldn’t marry He Hongwen made her ecstatic. But the thought of Ye Ruyue marrying him? That was simply unbearable.
