Chapter 30 : Good People Are Bullied
Han Hongbing looked at the others and asked, “Do you have any other opinions? If not, I’ll write up the separation agreement.”
Seeing that his parents had agreed, Han Zhenhua shook his head.
Han Zhenmin was silent for a moment, then said, “If our parents get sick in the future, will our eldest brother not care?”
“What? You, a high school student, didn’t understand what I just said? Do you need me to repeat it?” Han Zhenyu glanced at him coldly, then said bluntly, “I’ll say it again: my mother is dead. Your mother has nothing to do with me. Whether she is dead or alive is none of my business. Don’t come to me asking for trouble in the future.”
“Y-You…”
“Humph!” Han Zhenyu didn’t even look at him and turned to Han Hongbing, saying, “Captain, please write it up.”
“Wait.” Su Xieqiu pointed at Han Meili and Zhang Qianyun and said, “They still haven’t paid me back the money they borrowed.”
“What money?” Han Zhenyu asked.
“The pocket money you gave me every month, as well as the money I brought from home, was all borrowed by the two of them.”
“How much did they borrow?”
“Han Meili borrowed 7.5 yuan, and Zhang Qianyun borrowed 8.8 yuan.”
Han Zhenyu nodded, then looked at the two of them and said in a deep voice, “Pay back the money.”
“Don’t talk nonsense. When did we borrow money from you?” Although Han Meili felt a little guilty, she still spoke confidently. “We never borrowed money from you, don’t accuse me.”
Zhang Qianyun wouldn’t admit it either, since she had almost spent all the money, and didn’t borrow that much.
“Okay, you’re not admitting it, right?” Su Xieqiu nodded and said to the captain, “Captain, Han Zhenyu and I are relying on that little money to make a living. Since they won’t pay it back, we won’t split the family. I didn’t want to split the family in the first place.”
As she spoke, she glanced at Han Zhenyu, complaining, “I don’t know what you’re thinking. We have food, drink, and a place to stay here, and we don’t have to work. Why do you want to go out and build a straw hut? It’s fine in the summer, but what about winter? We’ll both freeze to death.”
Han Baoguo and Yang Lanhua became anxious upon hearing this. They had finally driven these two troublemakers out, and now they wanted to go back on their word. This was absolutely not acceptable.
Yang Lanhua knew that her daughter occasionally borrowed a few cents from Su Xieqiu. She didn’t know the exact amount, but it was definitely not as much as Su Xieqiu claimed.
She looked at her daughter and daughter-in-law and said, “Did you two borrow money from her? If you did, give it back immediately.”
Zhang Qianyun lowered her head and didn’t say anything. Han Meili whispered, “Yes, I borrowed a little, but not as much as she said.”
“Give it to her.”
Seeing that her daughter and daughter-in-law didn’t move, she knew they must have used the money, so she gritted her teeth and asked, “How much?”
It had been so long, how could the two of them remember the exact amounts? They usually borrowed a few cents or a dollar and had no intention of paying it back, so who would keep track?
Su Xieqiu suppressed her laughter, pinched her waist, and said randomly while counting on her fingers, “On the second day of March, Han Meili borrowed one yuan, and Zhang Qianyun borrowed one yuan. On the ninth day of March, Han Meili borrowed 60 cents. On the fifteenth day of March, Zhang Qianyun borrowed 80 cents. On the eighth day of April… Zhang Qianyun borrowed a total of 8.8 yuan from me, and Han Meili borrowed 7.5 yuan. I wrote down every penny, so I can’t be wrong.”
She looked at Yang Lanhua and threatened, “If you want to split the family, pay me back. Otherwise, I won’t move out. Aren’t there three chickens in the backyard? They’ll be enough for me to eat for a few days.”
“Don’t hide your food when you go to work. I’ll go crazy if I get hungry. If I burn down the house, don’t blame me.”
When the Han family heard about the house burning, they looked at her unkindly.
Su Xieqiu didn’t care what they thought. She stood there, pinching her waist, looking like she might snap at any moment.
Yang Lanhua gnashed her teeth in hatred but could do nothing about this scoundrel. Yet, she was unwilling to ask her to pay back the money.
Han Youming shook his head. Today, he was truly shocked by this family.
In the past, he only knew that Yang Lanhua, the stepmother, was good at superficial work.
He never imagined that the whole family would bully Zhenyu and his wife, and the father just stood there watching without saying anything.
No wonder Zhenyu wanted to split the family, even if he had to leave the house empty-handed. How could this be called a home? This was clearly a den of wolves that would eat people without leaving any bones behind.
The captain couldn’t take it anymore. He put his pen heavily on the table and said, “Are you going to split the family or not? If not, we’ll go back.”
He looked at Han Meili and Zhang Qianyun and said with a straight face, “It’s only natural to pay back debts. Do you still want to default on your debts?”
“Captain, Su Xieqiu is talking nonsense. I didn’t lend her that much money at all,” Han Meili said aggrievedly.
Zhang Qianyun was also anxious to prove herself, “Captain, I didn’t borrow that much.”
“How much did you borrow?”
The two of them really couldn’t remember, but Zhang Qianyun was quick on her feet. She rolled her eyes and immediately said, “Captain, I only borrow her a few cents.”
“You are such a rude person. You clearly borrow me 8.8 yuan, but now you say it was just a few cents. I think you’re only worth a few dollars,” Su Xieqiu pointed at her and said. “Not yet? Fine, just wait for me. If I don’t burn all your clothes and shoes tomorrow.”
She turned to Han Meili, “And you, you can’t escape.”
Han Zhenhua frowned when he heard her threaten his wife and sister like this. However, since Han Zhenyu was there, he didn’t dare get angry and had to ask Zhang Qianyun, “How much did you borrow from her?”
Zhang Qianyun whispered, “I forgot.”
Han Zhenhua was so angry that he had no choice but to ask his mother for help, as he had no money.
He walked up to Yang Lanhua and lowered his voice, “Mom, you should pay them back first. Didn’t you see that the captain is getting impatient? If we don’t divide the family today, they’ll definitely make trouble. It won’t be that easy to get them to leave the house in the future.”
Yang Lanhua was very reluctant, as it was more than ten yuan.
But she also knew her son was right. The little bastard had finally agreed to leave the house with nothing. If they didn’t divide the family just for the money, it would be a loss.
She gritted her teeth, got up, and went to the east room. After a while, she came back with a stack of banknotes and threw them at Su Xieqiu.
Han Zhenyu stood up immediately after seeing her insult . Yang Lanhua saw his gloomy eyes and quickly looked away guiltily.
Su Xieqiu immediately stopped Han Zhenyu. Now was not the time for him to lose his temper.
No matter what, Yang Lanhua is an elder. It doesn’t matter if I’m just a sick lunatic. I can do whatever I want.
If Han Zhenyu had a conflict with her, they would be wrong even if they were right.
In front of everyone, Su Xieqiu picked up the banknotes one by one and said with a sullen face, “This is really like borrowing money while standing and asking for repayment while kneeling. I thought I was lending out feelings, but I didn’t expect to get an enemy in return. It’s really true that good people are often bullied.”
She suddenly picked up the bowl of tea in front of Old Man Han and poured it all on Yang Lanhua’s face.
“You bitch, I’m going to beat you to death!” Yang Lanhua was so humiliated that she almost fainted.
Han Zhenhua, Han Zhenmin, and Han Meili all stood up angrily.
Han Zhenyu immediately stood in front of Su Xieqiu.
At this time, the captain spoke, “What are you doing? Sit down.”
“Captain, this woman dared to throw water on my mother’s face!” Han Zhenmin said angrily.
The captain glanced at him and said calmly, “Zhenmin, you saw what happened just now. Do you only blame your sister-in-law?”
“You can’t throw water on the face of an elder.” Han Zhenmin was still quibbling, but the captain ignored him.
Su Xieqiu looked directly at Yang Lanhua. “I’ve been married to this family for half a year, and you’ve never given me a good face except when you ask me to work. I was so hungry that I went to the backyard to steal a cucumber, and you pinched and scolded me, then asked me to pay a dollar.”
“There are many more things like this, and I won’t talk about them today. But I’ll never forget them, so after we separate, we’ll go our separate ways. If you mess with me again, I’ll let you know what a madman will do.”
