Chapter 41 : Vicious Sun Yuexian
The next day, Su Xieqiu prepared breakfast at dawn.
She ate a few bites, then put the casserole in a wooden barrel, placed the bowls and chopsticks she had bought yesterday in another barrel, and carried them to the foundation.
Han Zhenyu was scrubbing the big iron pot. The vat next to him was already full of water, and a pile of firewood was beside him.
Seeing Su Xieqiu coming over, he asked in surprise, “Why did you get up so early?”
” Eat first.” Su Xieqiu brought out the food and handed him a pair of chopsticks.
“And you?”
“I came here after I had eaten.”
Seeing that the pot was almost washed, Su Xieqiu added some water and started to boil it to prepare the boiled water before the workers arrived.
Han Zhenyu had just finished his meal when his grandfather and uncle arrived, pushing a cart with bedding and clothes, two baskets of vegetables, and a bag of grain.
“Grandpa, uncle, you’re here so early? You started your journey in the middle of the night?” Han Zhenyu hurriedly took the cart.
Uncle Du smiled and said, “You said yesterday that you wanted to repair the house, and your grandfather was so happy that he didn’t sleep much all night. He started calling me to get up before the rooster crowed.”
Han Zhenyu said helplessly, “Grandpa, why are you here so early? It’s not even daybreak yet.”
“It’s getting late. The workers should be here soon. Don’t delay their work,” Grandpa Du said with a smile.
After the three talked, Su Xieqiu walked forward with a smile and greeted them openly, “Hello, Grandpa, hello, uncle.”
Grandpa Du and Uncle Du were stunned and quickly responded, “Oh, good, good, good girl.”
Grandpa Du took out a red paper bag from his pocket, which was obviously prepared in advance. He gave it to Su Xieqiu with a smile, “This is a little gift from grandpa. Use it to buy some candy.”
Uncle Du also took out a similar red paper package from his pocket and said, “This is a little gift from your aunt and me. “
Su Xieqiu was very surprised. She never expected that the two of them had prepared red envelopes.
She waved her hands quickly, “Grandpa, uncle, I can’t accept it.”
At this time, Han Zhenyu spoke up, “Take it, it’s a token of our elders’ kindness.”
Su Xieqiu glanced at him before taking it with a smile, “Thank you, grandma, grandpa, and thank you, uncle and aunt.”
“You two are both good kids. Now that you have been separated, live a good life in the future,” Grandpa Du said.
Su Xieqiu nodded obediently, “I understand, Grandpa.”
Grandpa Du smiled with relief, took out a roll of rope from the cart, and said to Han Zhenyu, “Come on, take me to see the foundation.”
“Grandpa, it’s right in front.” Han Zhenyu took the two of them to measure.
Su Xieqiu knew that they must not have eaten yet, so she quickly went to the room and scooped up a ladle of noodles. Seeing a basket of eggs nearby, she took a few more.
She lit the fire, poured the oil, and soon the fragrant omelette was ready. Finally, she made two bowls of egg drop soup.
“Zhenyu, let grandpa and uncle come over for dinner.”
Han Zhenyu felt a flutter in his heart when he heard Su Xieqiu calling his name.
They had been married for half a year, and this woman had never called him by his name. Today was the first time.
He replied, “I understand.”
While Grandpa Du and Uncle Du were eating, workers from the village arrived one after another.
Han Zhenyu’s uncle and two cousins were the last to arrive with seven or eight workers. They also carried a large basket of vegetables and half a bag of potatoes.
Grandpa Du gave instructions, started drawing lines, mixing mud, and moving bricks, and soon they were working in full swing.
Su Xieqiu couldn’t help, so she went to the village. She wanted to ask who grew more vegetables and if they could save some, since with so many people, there would be a lot of vegetables needed.
When she passed by the Youth League Home, she casually glanced inside and was seen by Sun Yuexian, a female Youth League member.
“Hey, isn’t this Su Xieqiu?”
Sun Yuexian was very excited to see her and immediately walked to the door with a gentle smile on her face, but the words she spoke were very vicious.
“Why, your man left again? Are you unable to bear the loneliness and come to find Liu Huajun again? Do you want me to call him for you?”
Su Xieqiu’s expression did not change upon hearing her words. She squinted her eyes at the woman who had framed her and suddenly shouted towards the Youth Courtyard:
“Cao Xiaobo, Sun Yuexian said that she has liked you for a long time and asked if you would like to date her. She said that she is willing to live and die for you. If you don’t agree, she will be single for the rest of her life.”
Her explosive words shocked everyone in the Youth League House, and one by one, people came out to see what was going on.
Sun Yuexian was even more stunned by her actions. She never expected that Su Xieqiu, whom they had bullied before, would dare to confront her like this.
“I do, I do! Sun Yuexian, I like you too. Let alone being a couple, we could even get married right away,” Cao Xiaobo came running out of the house, looking at Sun Yuexian with an affectionate confession.
Sun Yuexian glanced at the ugly, vulgar Cao Xiaobo and felt so disgusted that she nearly vomited.
She clearly liked Liu Huajun, so how could she fall for Cao Xiaobo, who had neither family background nor good looks?
She hurriedly tried to explain, “Cao Xiaobo, don’t listen to what Su Xieqiu said. I have never liked you, and I will never like you.”
Su Xieqiu pretended to be upset and said, “Sun Yuexian, why are you like this? You’ve told me several times that other men don’t matter to you. You also said you would never marry anyone but Cao Xiaobo in this life, and asked me to help talk to him. Why aren’t you admitting it now? Are you kidding me, or have you fallen in love with someone else again?”
After saying that, she glanced around at the Youth League House, finally stopping her gaze on Liu Huajun, and pretended to be suddenly enlightened.
“Oh, I get it. It turns out that you’ve found someone with better conditions.”
Su Xieqiu shook her head helplessly. “Although love can’t be forced, Sun Yuexian, it’s really immoral for you to like everyone you meet.”
“What are you talking about? When did I fall in love with everyone I meet? If you keep talking nonsense, I won’t be polite to you!” Sun Yuexian snapped angrily.
Su Xieqiu looked at her with great disappointment, patted her shoulder firmly, and said earnestly, “Sun Yuexian, you can’t be shameless. You can’t keep thinking the grass is greener on the other side. If you’re always so superficial, you’ll never find pure love, and good men won’t like a woman like you.”
Sun Yuexian was so enraged that she wanted to say something vicious, but with Liu Huajun standing in the yard, she couldn’t destroy her image.
Just as she was about to argue with teary eyes, Su Xieqiu didn’t give her a chance to speak. She looked at her solemnly and said, “’m very disappointed in your character. In order not to be influenced by you, I now solemnly declare that from today on, I, Su Xieqiu, will sever my friendship with you. From now on, we’ll go our separate ways. When we meet, there’s no need to greet each other. After all, people with different ideals can’t work together.”
Then, she looked at the dejected Cao Xiaobo and felt a sense of satisfaction because he had helped Sun Yuexian bully her many times in the past.
Now that he had been ruthlessly rejected by his crush, let’s see if he would continue being a lackey in the future.
She smiled and comforted him, “Cao Xiaobo, although you’re not good-looking, you have a pure soul. I believe you can find a better girl. Don’t worry, the right one will come when the time is right.”
Su Xieqiu almost made it clear that although Sun Yuexian was beautiful, her soul was dirty and she was not worthy of him at all.
At first, Cao Xiaobo felt a little sad after being publicly rejected by the girl he liked.
But after hearing Su Xieqiu praise him like this, he puffed out his chest proudly, ran his hand through his oiled hair, and said, “You really have good taste.”
Su Xieqiu held back her laughter, praised him a bit more, then turned and left.
Liu Huajun walked to the door and stood there for a long time, unable to snap out of it.
When Su Xieqiu first came to the Sanhua Brigade, he had fallen for the beautiful and shy girl. But before he could start pursuing her, she had married a village gangster.
Liu Huajun sighed inwardly, blaming fate for playing tricks on them, making it so that they were never meant to be together.
Sun Yuexian looked at Liu Huajun with a grievance, then glared at Su Xieqiu, who was walking away, wishing she could tear her to pieces.
It had been such a good opportunity for her to marry a gangster. If only she had arranged for Su Xieqiu to marry an old bachelor from the village, maybe things would have turned out differently.
Sighing, Sun Yuexian thought to herself that she could only blame herself for being too soft-hearted back then.
