Time-Traveling to the Seventies : My Troublemaker Husband is Full of Secrets Chapter 6

Chapter 6 : Space Appearance

Sun Dashu hesitated for a moment and said, “Brother Zhenyu, my sister-in-law is so badly injured, we can’t just let Han Meili and Zhang Qianyun off easily. But have you considered this? You’re family, and this is just a family conflict. The police will at most just give Han Meili a warning, and they probably won’t impose a harsh punishment. Our brigade is competing with several other brigades for the advanced title this year. If you lose this opportunity because of your family’s issues, the brigade leader will definitely be upset with you…”

Han Lei also added, “Yes, Brother Zhenyu, the captain has been working really hard to secure this advanced title recently. Yesterday he even went to the county to network and build connections. If you mess this up now, he’ll definitely make things difficult for you because he’s narrow-minded. It will also be tough for you to ask for leave or get a letter of recommendation from him in the future.”

How could Han Zhenyu not understand this? He smiled and said to his two brothers:

“Didn’t I tell you? Report to the police tomorrow, and when you get back, just tell him what I was thinking.”

Han Lei and Sun Dashu suddenly understood and thought to themselves, Brother Zhenyu is so smart, how could he not have thought of these things?

Han Zhenyu gestured for Su Xieqiu to get on the cart, and Sun Dashu and Han Lei quickly started pulling it.

Su Xieqiu was exhausted after the incident in the afternoon and the injury to her head.

She didn’t hesitate and continued lying on the cart. Although the bumpy dirt road wasn’t very comfortable, it was better than walking.

It was very late now, and only one or two pedestrians could be seen occasionally on the road.

As they passed an alley, Han Zhenyu asked them to wait a moment and walked into a yard. After a while, he returned with a basket.

Su Xieqiu thought she smelled the aroma of roasted chicken and couldn’t help but swallow.

She had been full when she woke up, and only two or three hours had passed, yet she was hungry again.

She remembered the last time she had been this greedy was when she was a child and saw the neighbor’s children eating sausages. She had been drooling at the time.

The neighbor had felt sorry for her and gave her one.

She couldn’t forget the taste of starch and meat for many years after that.

Once she started working, she bought all kinds of sausages with her first month’s salary.

But now, she couldn’t quite recapture the feeling she had as a child.

After becoming financially independent, she traveled to many places and tasted many delicious foods, but her favorite was still sausages in various flavors.

Every time she went to the supermarket, she bought a few packs and kept them at home.

When she didn’t feel like cooking, she would make instant noodles and add a sausage.

The day before she traveled through time, she had bought a lot of New Year’s goods and snacks.

There were several packs of different brands of ham, as well as four new flavors of large meat-filled ham.

The large meat-dense ham sausage had been recommended to her by a colleague from Northeast China.

She was told it was mostly made of meat particles, with just a small amount of starch, and tasted very good.

She hadn’t even had time to taste the ham before she came here.

As Su Xieqiu was lost in thoughts about sausages, she suddenly felt something in her hand.

It was now pitch black in the wilderness, with cornfields almost as tall as a person on both sides. She was so startled that she almost screamed.

Carefully, she touched the object in her hand and realized it was familiar. Why did it look like the big meat-filled ham sausage she had bought before traveling through time?

Thinking of the time-travel novels she had read before, Su Xieqiu’s heart began to race.

Excitedly, she thought, could this be a golden finger?

Seeing Han Zhenyu talking to Han Lei and the others ahead, she quietly took her hands out of the quilt.

She looked at the object in her hand a large piece of meat sausage, exactly what she had bought before traveling through time.

Su Xieqiu quickly pulled her hands back into the quilt, fearing it would be discovered.

She was both nervous and excited, but she couldn’t eat the sausage just yet.

She decided to try and see if she could store it away.

As soon as the thought crossed her mind, a magical scene occurred, the sausage in her hand vanished.

Su Xieqiu was stunned. She was now certain that she had a golden finger.

Although she didn’t know how useful this golden finger would be, there must be food inside.

In the 1970s, when resources were scarce, food was precious. If there was food in the golden finger, life might not be so difficult.

Su Xieqiu lay on the bumpy cart, gazing at the starry night sky, silently laughing.

She didn’t understand why she was here, but she believed she could live well anywhere.

When they arrived at the village, Su Xieqiu got off the cart.

Since the cart was borrowed by Han Lei, he would need to return it later.

Han Zhenyu took out two oil-paper-wrapped packages from the basket and handed them to Han Lei and Sun Dashu. “There’s half a roast chicken inside. Take it back and eat it.”

The two men quickly refused, “Brother Zhenyu, we don’t want it. Sister-in-law is badly injured, you should take it back to help nourish her.”

Han Zhenyu insisted, handing them the roast chicken. “Just take it.”

He then lifted the basket in his hand, saying, “There’s more in here.”

Reluctantly, the two took it. “Brother Zhenyu, sister-in-law, we go back first.”

Su Xieqiu smiled and thanked them. “Thank you for everything today.”

“You’re welcome, sister-in-law.”

Han Lei whispered again, “Brother Zhenyu, when we go to return the cart later, we’ll tell the captain that you want to report to the police.”

Han Zhenyu smiled and nodded, then he and Su Xieqiu returned to the Han family home.

The Han family’s courtyard was located in the middle of the village. The door was closed, and it was dark inside, suggesting that everyone in the family was asleep.

But Su Xieqiu doubted they would be able to sleep tonight.

Han Zhenyu pushed the door, but it wouldn’t open. He handed the basket to Su Xieqiu.

He took a few steps back, then suddenly ran forward with all his strength and kicked the door open with a loud bang.

Su Xieqiu stared in shock. This guy was so simple and rough!

Han Zhenyu saw her standing there blankly, took the basket from her hand, and said, “Come in.”

Then, he headed for the kitchen with the basket.

Su Xieqiu followed him into the yard, but then turned around to close the door.

Since the door lock had been broken when Han Zhenyu kicked it, she used two wooden sticks to hold the door shut.

This village was at the foot of a mountain, and wild animals might come in, so it wasn’t safe.

Su Xieqiu heard some noise from the main room and quickly regained her composure.

She sneered and turned to go to the kitchen. Seeing Han Zhenyu adding water to the pot, she sat by the stove, ready to help light the fire.

Han Zhenyu glanced at her and said calmly, “I’ll do it. You go rest in the room.”

Su Xieqiu, feeling a bit uncomfortable, nodded and went back to the house.

She found matches, lit the kerosene lamp, and sat on the kang, lost in thought.

A while later, Han Zhenyu brought in two bowls.

One was egg custard, and the other had half a roast chicken and two steamed buns.

“Eat,” he said, placing the bowls on the head of the kang before walking out.

Su Xieqiu quickly called after him, “Aren’t you eating?”

Without turning around, Han Zhenyu replied, “I’ve already eaten.”

“Oh.”

Seeing that he didn’t want to engage with her, Su Xieqiu shrugged indifferently, picked up the chopsticks, and began eating.

She finished the egg custard, ate a steamed bun, took a few bites of the roast chicken, and left the rest on the head of the kang for Han Zhenyu.

She took the dirty dishes to the kitchen and saw Han Zhenyu returning from the backyard with a wooden bucket, probably to take a shower.

The two exchanged glances, then quickly looked away.
